Connecticut Wrap's

Im not big on connies at all, i like the full strength smokes 90% of the time.
However there is a time and place for something lighter and i have found some connies that i really enjoy, so if your a full on power head, but looking for something less for the AM or those times when you just need something lighter, i reccomend these:

601 black
Camacho Connecticut
Tabacos Baez

anyone else like the strong stuff and discovered any other connies that i or anyone else may like ? Please fill me in...

The 601 Black is not a mild cigar by any means. The 601's all have the same filler but have a different wrapper.

The palate is freshest in the morning so I tend to smoke my favorite, no matter what the strength.

i think they are mild, i know that everyone does not...im just used to smoking power house sticks almost everytime i smoke...such as LFDs or the 601 green etc...

Re: Connecticut Wrap's

Not sure if they're available anymore but the Cuban Diplomat was always a nice Conn. Shade wrapped smoke. These are/were a house blend for Phatash/Cigar King made by Pepin. Kind of similar to the 601's in that it used the same blend as the Havana Soul but the cover leaf was different.

My favorite Connecticut is the Oliva Connecticut lonsdale. I didn't like the bigger RG Oliva Connecticut's, but the lonsdale is extremely good. I only have half a box left.

But the only difference is the green and black is the wrapper. The wrapper can't magically make the blend mild.

the blend is mild to start with....those cigars where designed to show case the wrappers...so yes the wrappers do determine the majoirty of that cigars flavor.... And im not saying its super mild..other wise i would not like it at all...but the wrapper does make a huge differnce on those cigars..they green label is fuuuuckn spicey as they get..the connie has some pepper true..but no where near the oscuro

Re: Connecticut Wrap's

I think the 601 blacks are excellent. mild enough to nose inhale all day long but still very full flavored.

LoL! Just to break things down, the 601 blends in general aren't mild by any means (compared to Davis, Mac etc), none of them come in a ring lower than 50 to my knowledge (so your not tasting as much of the wrapper as you think), and no the wrappers do not make up the majority of the cigars flavor (the filler does that) :tu

Zino platinum shorty
Cusano Double 18 Connecticut.

That about the only CT wrappers I smoke these days

Re: Connecticut Wrap's

I have to agree that the wrapper doesn't really add anything to the strength or fullness of flavor. On the other hand, it's hard for me to believe that the green and black are the same blend aside from the wrapper. The greens and reds are just sooo strong and the blacks are incredibly smooth.

I disagree unless you are speaking of this cigar specifically as I have never tried these sticks. The flavor in a cigar comes from the wrapper undoubtedly. Not saying if the binder and filler are **** and the wrapper is good that you will have a great cigar but the wrapper is key in the cigar.

I would disagree. I've smoked the same cigar (robusto) with and without a wrapper and it tasted the same. The blend is where the flavor comes from. Otherwise, you could just throw a bunch of leaves together without a thought and wrap it with a specific wrapper. But if you did that, it wouldn't taste too good.

Really? How do explain the first gen H2000 leaf then? The wrappers were horrible, burned horrible, but the cigars still tasted pretty good. I'm also curious why you feel one leaf is more flavorful than the several that make up the filler

What cigar are you referring to? I haven't had many H2000 Wrappers so I won't try to explain what I don't know much about but read the second part of my post. I am not saying that a good wrapper with a **** binder and filler would be good but to say that no flavor is imparted by the wrapper to me (not a pro mind you) is incorrect. Are you talking about the H2000 used in some Gurkha

the wrapper makes a HUGE difference plain and simple

grab a 601 , red, blue, green and black....

smoke the black..then smoke the green right after it...its a world of difference
then
smoke the red then the blue...also a world of difference..

put it to the test

I like the Doritos without the bag. They all taste the same! You can mix the Nacho cheese with the Black pepper and you can't tell what is what. I also like to take the wrappers off of Twinkies and Ho Ho's and try to guess what is what.
