No more Copenhagen

Well i finally quit chewing thur after 25 plus years. Its harder then I thought it was going to be. Not so much the physical addiction but the mental one. I still reach in my back pocket for my can 50 times a day. But as the old saying goes, I'm just trying to take it one day at a time :tu

Boy, I've been down that road. Fear got me to quit. I started having these unusual red rings on the inside of my mouth. My doctor told me it was more than likely caused by any one of a number of unknown bacteria and not by tobacco. Still, FEAR did it for me. Good luck. It's the harderst habit to quit because it's so easy to use.

Keep focused on the extra money in your pocket and extra years on your life. Been dipping Cope for 10 years, a week from this Wednesday is my quit date...we'll see how that goes.

Good luck.

You could always chew on some asparagus stalks instead.

Seriously, good for you Steve, you'll be better for it.

Good luck bro... I know how ya feel. I kicked it a couple of years ago and kept a can 'just in case'. I realized I was done when I felt the need and put in a pinch from a 6 month old can... that sealed the deal.

Great job Steve! Wish you the best in staying off it.

When I started back in the day it was $0.25 a tin. When it got to $0.55 I gave it up cuz it cost to much. :D

I'm in the process of getting off of it myself. Hardest thing I've ever done. I've been using some sort of chewing tobacco/snuff for about 30 years. Good luck bro!

I'm using this to get over the habitual part of it.

I've been dipping or chewing scrap since I was about 8. Gives me about 34 years.
I love it. It totally owns me. I tried to quit a couple times. It'd be easier to quit being stupid. :)

I chewed Skoal for 40 years and quit 5 or 6 years ago. When I started, it was $.25/can, too. However, I still use Smokey Mountain (wintergreen) fake chew. I kicked the physical addiction but, I guess, not the "habit". When you've had a "flavor" and a "lump" in your mouth for 40 years, it's hard not to have something in there. Gum only goes so far.

The best advice I can give is: never, ever say to yourself, "well, that was easy enough to quit, I think I'll just have a "celebration" chew." Bam, you'll be hooked, again. I no longer have the urge to buy a can of real chew but still like the flavor and feeling the fake stuff gives me.

I have been using the Smokey Mountain. It seems to really help.

Good luck with it. From watching a friend of mine who dipped since he was literally an early teen, it can be a challenge but is certainly doable. My pal has been Cope-free for about ten years. He'll go through a large bag of sunflower seeds during a baseball game, though.

How's it going Steve? I'm 15 hours and 8 minutes away from my quit time. I'm really feeling anxious about it, and I'm really hoping that the nicotine replacement therapy will keep me on an even keel.
