The Breath Thread

So I know that I can't be the only one who's significant other dislikes my breath after smoking a cigar. What does everyone else do to minimize the after effects of cigar smoking? I know that my girlfriend says she can taste the cigar on my breath for almost two days if I don't do anything OTHER than routine brushing.

Albertson's, Kroger, Target and Wal-Mart are on the list, but I've never seen it before.

The first place I found it was Walgreen's. It's also at Walmart and Meijer in my area.

In my last relationship I would have to brush my teeth and take a shower after being out and smoking.

I did the same as Jonathan. Mrs. Brew like infused smokes, and I'm grateful to have her in the cave or on the deck with me.

That said, I just brush well and rinse with Listerine before bed. But I still wake up with dragon breath, so I have to ask myself what's the difference?

Are we allowed to post sources? If so, hook me up Thomas! I haven't had a swig of liquid plutonium since i worked the bar at the last Major Villians of DC Comics convention - I'm really jones'in here!

And just so you know, the Joker isn't nearly as crazy as they make him out to be - those damn holier-than-thou masked vigilantes and their propaganda teams!

Re: The Breath Thread

TheBeard smokes slightly less cigars than I do (he's sometimes smoking his pipe instead), but we're fairly close in the numbers now that I've worked for awhile on corrupting him down to the dark side. Neither of us minds "cigar breath" but if I've been at a herf and sucked down four or five (or more) back to back in a small area where a dozen other people are doing the same, I'm gonna wash my hair and toss my clothes in the laundry. Stale smoke hanging in clothes and hair gets unpleasant, even if they were damn good cigars.

I always drink water when I smoke. Then when I am done, I rinse with some mouthwash. HOWEVER, my wife doesnt stop at the breath. She hates when I come home smelling like smoke. She doesnt really complain though. When I come home from the b&m I usually just hop in the shower anyway.

With the wife, I have two kids, so I try to have cigar breath. :r

Around others I rinse with anything and chew Orbits.

Going to look into the Smart Mouth. Mainly because I just like to keep clean teeth.

I tried mouthwash, brushing, showering and all types of breath mints and chewing gums. I also bought the top-notch IQAir air purifier (which does a great job on removing smoke odors), all to no avail. She was so sensitive to smoke, that I had to go outside to smoke my cigars, then shower and brush and rinse before coming to bed.

I sure miss her.

:tpd: Walgreen's is the only place in my area to carry it, but they are frequently out. Expensive, but it does work--I use it before going to bed if I've smoked late. Always wake up with a metallic taste in my mouth after using it, though.

Otherwise I usually just some citrus (drinking orange juice, or a lime juice gargle) & brushing to take the edge off, and helps the cigar breath fade.

Re: The Breath Thread

I brush then rinse with Smartwash. I also wash my "Leonidas, Spartan beard" (as my wife calls it). Smoke just loves hangin' on to the beard.

Now, I only do all the above if I'm around people that care, such as the woman I live with and the beard washing only occurs if I smoke before bed. How can I "love" her if she can't stand the smoky beard?...By doing the above breath/beard treatment...that's how. :D
