Acid? Whut?
I made the mistake of sniffing one, and I had to suspect that they have either found a way to mass produce Monica Lewinskis using 80 year old grandmas who bathe in arthritis cream, or somebody let a cat into the humidor who had been chewing on salted mackerel livers and drinking huge amounts of water out of an unflushed toilet.
I remember years back a truly horrid cigar produced for the "skater punk" subculture that smelled almost exactly like this, the Lars Tetens. I have to suspect it's the same maker. Some kindly soul needs to write them and let them know that the big white mints harvested fresh and dripping wet from public urinals are not, in fact, the best humidifiers for your long term cigar storage. I did not dare smoke it. I put it down slowly and backed out of the humidor. For all I know it was contagious and I am already doomed. But for the love of Ghu, will someone please explain what these people were thinking? Eau de Ben Gay and chemical toilet with the subtle nuttiness of used cat litter is *not* a good cigar flavor. They did this to those cigars on purpose? |
Re: Acid? Whut?
De gustibus non est disputandum. I don't like them, but our troops love 'em. They actually ask for them by name. So, whatever.......

Re: Acid? Whut?
i smoked my very first acid cigar today lolololololololololol
|
Re: Acid? Whut?
When I first started smoking cigars, I liked the Acid Kuba Kuba. I've not had one in well over a year and have no idea what I'd think about them now.
I've also had an Acid Blondie and Nasty. Both struck me as the latter. But hey, that's me. Smoke what you like, like what you smoke. :tu |
Re: Acid? Whut?
Your observations are all well and good but...
Drew Estate makes and sells millions of cigars. That said, there are folks here that enjoy them. Speaking for myself,I never ever bad mouth cigars I dislike for fear of hurting someones feelings. Smoke what you like, like what you smoke. The no snob policy is in full force here. |
Re: Acid? Whut?
It's kind of fun to badmouth cigars I don't like. I'm naughty that way. ;)
I don't intend it to be personal so much as amusing, but your point is taken under advisement, and I appreciate it. I will be sure to send some to the troops. I just won't keep'em in my humidor. |
Re: Acid? Whut?
Eh, I won't hate on DE too much. You won't find a better power mini stick like the C-Note (though for the price you might as well get a normal cigar). Plus the C-Note got me off of cigarettes. :)

Re: Acid? Whut?
People really smoke these things?? I thought they were a smoker's air freshener.
You know what I mean.... you stick 1 or 2 in the car air vents, 1 in the sock drawer, maybe 3 or 4 over the cats litter box....:r |

Sodomanaz....why do I have such interesting and yet deeply disturbing mental images when I see your screen name?

CAO Flavors got me off cigs years ago. I dont smoke flavored cigars anymore however Ive always be curious about the natural line by Drew. Some day ill buy a single or two :ss. |
Re: Acid? Whut?
The Natural's are not bad at all. I don't care for the sweet tip, but the smokes are nice and aromatic.
|
Re: Acid? Whut?
I'm going to smoke a Moontrance tonight just to spite you people.
|
Re: Acid? Whut?
The only thing that bothers me about the acids is the sweet tip.

Not a big fan of Acids (althought I smoked them often when I first started). I do like the Drew Estate Natural products though...the Dirt is a tasty little treat.

Re: Acid? Whut?
I smoked a few Acids in school before I knew anything! I "thought" they were good...tried one again not too long ago when a friend had them...eh not so much!

Thats the funniest **** I have read in a long time. :r I could not agree with you more. I can admit that i have smoked "one" awhile back, and to me it was like smoking a perfume bottle. In no way can these be classified as a "cigar". No way, no how!:2 |
Re: Acid? Whut?
One of my dealer friends said that she liked the Blondie Acids and I should try one. Well I had never heard of an Acid before that so I bought one. Stuck it in my mouth and immediately spit the lil sucker out.
I didn't know it tasted so much like my ex-wife. Dang! Not enough listerine in the world to remove that taste. I felt that I had cheated on my current wife. I had to go back in and find a Ghurka to remove the flavored scent from my truck. Needless to say, I don't follow that dealer's advice anymore. I'll stick to my regulars! I don't regularly smoke flavored cigars or keep any in my humidor but after a few beers with the guys they can taste pretty good.

Re: Acid? Whut?
I tried a sampler of the line when I started smoking cigars. There was one that wasn't too bad. If you want to try something from Drew Estates that is the opposite of the Acid try a Liga Privada #9 - an excellent smoke!

Re: Acid? Whut?
Another note worth pointing out is this....
Acids bring in a lot of brand new smokers to this hobby of ours and that is a GREAT thing. I am working on making it a personal venture to get as many to slide down the slope as I can! By the way, I have yet to taste one. I can't bring myself to do it. Mainly because of the smell they have I truly fear it would taste like spraying bad cologne in my mouth. Jackie |

Something like that :D
Depends on the version... ;) |
Re: Acid? Whut?
I like SOME DE products and they put out a good cigar. However, I smoked an Acid once and felt like I was smoking a stick of incense...never again. However, you like what you like and you ought to smoke what you like.

Re: Acid? Whut?
I got started on acids. I cant smoke em now in days. Although the Drew Estate Tabak Especial, Cafe con Leche does look oddly delicious.

Very funny Michael!!! I am laughing on the inside, because I started with Acids...LOL!!

I personally like the Tabak Especial Colada cigars from DE; I occasionally smoke them on the way to work in the morning. They have just a slight coffee flavor - not overpowering like the Java. About a 25 - 30 minute smoke. Both of my sons started on Acids - the oldest has graduated to real sticks now, but the 24 y/o still likes a Kuba-Kuba or Blondie instead of a cigarette once in a while... YMMV... |

BTW, at this time I think Tbone and I are jetting to richmond around 1300ish.... Maybe a 1400 to 1430 arrival. Returning time TBD. If this fits with your plans and you want to car pool give us a yell. |
Re: Acid? Whut?
I will meet you guys up there a little after 1400...I have to swing my Williamsburg on my way. Thanks for the ride offer though. I agree with you on the CAOs, have smoked about four and each one wasn't that hot (to be honest, still trying to figure out what the deal is with these..I don't get it) . I really like the Dirts though...I'm still gonna bring you one and you can throw it in your coolador for a later date.

Re: Acid? Whut?
well I'm a pretty young guy and first grabbed an Acid when my dad went to pick up some other 'normal' cigars for his friends, I knew nothing at the time and my dad didn't know much about cigars either. I was kinda hooked on the small Acid's, the blondie and some of the cigarette sized ones...shared them with friends and whatnot and had fun with them; they are a really soft smoke and smell crazy. It was only a month after I found out about them that I heard they were flavored and not 'real cigars'. Recently I have been testing the waters with the Oliva's, Rocky P. Edge, bunch of different AF's, a Punch, and a bunch of others and am starting to really getting into it. The Acid's were fun to start out with but these are just so much better and different.
|
Re: Acid? Whut?
I can say one thing on this subject. Say you are a Acid smoker. You hear that they are not REAL cigars and get
some other models and you think, "Hmm, these just taste like tobacco, and they taste the same all the wy through. I like the weird flavors of my OLD cigars." What do you do? You go back to Acids and enjoy yourself. There is no shame in smoking that strange stuff if you like it and can afford them. It is much better for all of us if you keep smoking cigars, not dropping them after "graduating" and hating Real Cigars. Unless of course, you leave your butts around and people end up hating all of us because of YOU. ;) |

Re: Acid? Whut?
ACID's aren't as bad as people make them out to be. If I hadn't taken up smoking again a couple of years ago with ACID's...I wouldn't appreciate the cigars I do today. Fortunately for me...I was able to find somebody at a local B&M to buy my 100 count humi filled with nothing but ACID's. Apparently...they benefit from time as well. He said the year and a half old Blondies were the best he had ever smoked. I took his word for it...lol
|
Re: Acid? Whut?
I don't mind certain ACID's once in a great while. I particularly like the Toast. It's not quite as sweet as the Kuba Kuba which is WAAAY over the top. Blech...
