Fuente vs. Padron
I thought of an interesting question, today, while smoking a 3yr. old Fuente Double Chat SG. One of my first good sticks, BTW. If you could "Only" smoke one, which would it be, Fuente or Padron? I'll vote Padron, since I currently favor the variety of flavors and characteristics of that particular line. If someone could help me set up a formal poll with Graphs, etc., I would greatly appreciate it!
It will be interesting to see the results from all the Inmates! Thanks!:tu Greg |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
SO far I'd second Padron although I smoked my first Anejo last week and it was excellent.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padron without a doubt.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
As of right now since I haven't tried many Fuente's, I choose Padron. They have great cigars at every price level.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padron
But then again I am a Padron whore. |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
These happen to be my two favorites in my short cigar smoking time so this is very tough. I think in the end I would vote for Fuente though due to the consistency I have found in them...I love me some short stories. However, I am also biased I think because I have tried some of the higher end Fuentes (Opus X) and not the higher end Padron. Perhaps, if I had a super premium Padron I would change my mind. I really have only smoked the *000 series Padrons!

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padron without a doubt - I love the entire line.
I enjoy Fuente's Flor Fina, Anejo, Don Carlos and the X...I don't enjoy Hemingways as much any more and the Sun Grown I don't like...can't remember what I else I have smoked from Fuente. |

Wow....Padron smoking Fuente at this point!
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuente no questions asked... While I do enjoy some padrons, I find them to be too expensive for what I get... and some Fuentes are over priced, but I just steer clear of them (GOF comes to mind).
I haven't smoked a Padron in almost a year if that helps... while my last Fuente was probably less than two weeks ago. :tu |

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Speaking of price I picked up a DC Fuente and for sixty cents less a Padrón 1964 Monarch. So for me :wo

I have never smoked a Padron, but I do have a Boxed Pressed Aniversary I keep passing up in my humi. I have definitely smoked my share of the almighty Fuente sticks, and they are by far my fave cigars.

Fuente for me.
Padrons are good, but the Fuentes are even better. |

Padron, but I haven't tried too many Fuentes

So far, Padron over Fuente, 10-5!:tu

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I guess i'd have to go Fuente. They have a broader range of selections as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I'd go Fuente. There are very few that I don't like. I rarely get a bad Padrón, either, but have much more experience with the Fuente line.
There are really no losers in either brand, though. |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I like the lower end Padrons more than the lower end Fuentes but I like the higher end Fuentes more than the higher end Padrons.
Confused? Padron 2000 > AF Curlyhead Hemmingway > Padron 40th Opus > Padron 80th |

I don't smoke too many NCs anymore, but I enjoy these two brands above most others. If I had to make a choice, I would choose Fuente.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padron in a heartbeat.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
If price was not a factor I would have to say Fuente. I've been a big Padron fan for years now. It was a 5'er of 3000s that actually got me hooked on cigars in the first place, but frankly they kind of bore me now.
In the interest of full disclosure, I just prefer Dominican tobacco. It seems to have the potential to approach the level of depth and complexity you get from Cuban tobacco, especially when purchased at a B&M. ;) I think I've had the best of the best that Nicaragua has to offer and while great, there is definitely a ceiling to their potential,(in my opinion). |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I'd have to go with Fuente.

Although I like the draw more on Fuentes, I'm going to have to go with Padrons because I haven't had a bad one yet. :)

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
And for those that don't speak Spanish - I no longer wear a tinfoil hat! |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Not even a question for me: Fuente all the way. Just to have a go at the Anejos.
