Yep and he hasn't even played a single pro snap. I cannot understand how there is no limits on the Rookie contract. The NFL needs to adopt a pay scale for rookies just like the NBA has. Especially in this economy to pay a soon to be NFL player that money is just ludicrous.

I hope the Bengals draft a left tackle. Our O-line needs help.

I'm sure there will be a rookie cap negotiated after next year's uncapped year.

I honestly don't know who we will take b/c Mike Brown is a retard.

I'm pretty sure that the Rams will go Jason Smith.

I'm going to try and pay attention to it moreso than I normally do, as a guy I played with in HS is going to be drafted this year. We expect a third round, possibly second round pick. He's O-Line though, so its not anyone anybody would know.

I'm interested in who the Raiders will pick. They're ultra-secretive... as always. I'm hoping WR with #7 pick.

oh jeez, I always forget how "classy" the NFL fans can be. I wish they wouldn't even have an audience mic.

booooooo!!!!

Booo is right for the Chiefs pick. Why not Curry? I would have rather got Crabtree or Maclin than Jackson.

Oh we picked up the WR, but Darrius Heyward-Bey from Maryland instead of Crabtree? Time will tell I guess but ................................

Oh man... that is a reach. A friend of mine did think that Crabree's attitude might be a bit too diva-ish.

Is anybody else sick of hearing Keyshawn and Young argue. geesh. I thought Mel would be the one who annoyed me the most.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft

Happy the Raiders passed up Crabtree, and the Niners ended up with him. I don't think the attitude will be a problem with Singletary as the coach. If he had a real problem before, it should get sorted out early, and probably be best for him.

Glad I havn't heard any of that. NFL Network coverage is better, imo.

I hate the entire panel. I hate Berman and Young how they pause in their sentences. SPIT IT OUT!

I am happy with who the Bengals took (Andre Smith)

But you guys are the Raiders, bad attitudes are what you guys are made of. Crabtree would have been a perfect pick for you guys.

I think Al had enough of that with Jerry Porter. The Jags found out what he was all about.

After the initial shock... my only option is to support DHB.

Yeah, nothing like a fat guy, who doesn't work hard, is lazy, did less than 20 reps at 225, ran a 5.33 40 and had a vertical of 24, who should be a RT getting picked to play LT. Oh and lets not forget all his college coaches said he has character issues and he got suspended for his last game and he left the combine early without telling anyone. Frankly, I think it is a terrible pick and he is going to get ran in the division. But good for the Bengals. :bh

ESPN reported that Saban said he liked Andre Smith. I could be wrong, but that is just what I heard.

I can't wait to see where Conner Barwin gets picked. He is an extremely versatile player. He can play TE, DE, LB

After all was said and done, the Saints stuck to their "need" and made the right the pick in Malcom Jenkins.

Cleveland's front office looks like geniuses in this draft.

I was hoping the Lions would have picked him up at the first pick in the 2nd round but of course why do something that makes sense

:ss woohoo go Texans!

I just hope they can finally have a winning season this year. It's not like they're the new guys in the league anymore.

Bucs pick blows....

They moved UP to take yet another QB. Now we have, ohhhhhhhhhh, maybe 5 or 6, or is it 7?

All comentators were saying BUCS DON"T NEED A QB.

All right the guy I played with in HS got drafted by the Steelers (Urbik). It'll be interesting to see how he does on a quite successful team. Last year Joe Thomas went to a less successful team...the Browns...

That was the dumbest thing I think I have seen on ESPN in a while. They needed a bigger couch and all Cosby did was ramble the entire time

This just means Josh Johnson and Brian Griese are gone. I was hoping for a DE, DT, CB or even a WR. I thought we were resigned to have Leftwich or McCown start this year with Johnson as the QB of the future. Whatever. I don't have much faith in the organization this year. If they do well it will be a miracle.

Eric Allen reporting on ESPN moments ago was asked about the BEST & Worst picks in the first round.

The Buccaneers were acknowledged as having the WORST pick, according to Allen. I agree.

I think the Raiders had the worst first round pick and also the worst draft. Although none of these mean a thing until 3 years from now when you see how everyone produced.

and the worst 2nd rnd pick. They picked a kid that didnt even get invited to the combine and was projected as an Undrafted free agent!!!

If the Raiders hadn't taken him, the Bears were going to. At least that is how the story goes.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft

What about the Lions?

Stafford vs others can be argued, but an effin TE with the 20th overall pick? Name a TE taken in the first round other than maybe Gonzales or Winslow. Why wouldn't they take an OT or DE at this point? Both positions are huge holes in this team.

Then even after that mistake with their 3rd pick (first of the second round) they take a Safety from Western Michigan. No offense but they have 5 or more safeys on the roster, need a MLB, and both Mauluga and Lurinaitis (spelling) were both available. WTF???

Here's the details of how they squandered their picks:
Rd** Pk*(Ov)** Player Pos** School**
1* 1*(1)* Matthew Stafford* QB* Georgia*
1* 20*(20)* Brandon Pettigrew* TE* Oklahoma St.*
2* 1*(33)* Louis Delmas* S* W. Michigan*
3* 12*(76)* DeAndre Levy* LB* Wisconsin*
3* 18*(82)* Derrick Williams* WR* Penn St.*
4* 15*(115)* Sammie Lee Hill* DL* Stillman*
6* 19*(192)* Aaron Brown* RB* TCU*
7* 19*(228)* Lydon Murtha* OL* Nebraska*
7* 26*(235)* Zack Follett* LB* California*
7* 46*(255)* Dan Gronkowski* TE* Maryland*

You hit the nail right on the head with this statement. I could not agree more. As far as Pettigrew he was the 20th or better rated player overall in the draft. I don't like the pick at all but they got good value there.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft

I didn't see anybody say anything about this but it really bothered me to see so many players get drafted and continue to talk on their cell phone. One player was walking up to the podium still on his phone. Have some respect! You now have a job, make millions and you don't have the decency to hang up the phone to go on stage with the NFL commissioner! Immaturity showed up big time with these college players and teams are handing them millions. It is insane.
