Smokin Gator's Man Cave
 

Some you know that my wife and I are doing a major remodel on a house and will be moving into it in June. The house has a small area off the master bedroom with a spa. Neither one of us really cared anything about the spa so I talked my wife into letting me make it into a man cave. Here are some pics of the beginnings of my new home inside my home:

This is from the bedroom door looking out into the area. The floor will be tile.

This is from were the windows looking back in. The bedroom door is on the right. The two vinos will go under that window.

The brick wall is where the big screen TV will be mounted. The door to the left is the bedroom door. To the right is a door to the side yard and large windows

This is the view looking out onto the side yard. It will be privacy glass - not that there is really anyone to look in. The door is being replaced with a fiberglass door. The rest is all windows.

This is from the outside looking in.

They are putting a duct for heat/air, a pvc ceiling, and a ceiling fan in. I am mounting a smoke eater on the wall opposite the TV.

It is not very large, maybe 120 sq ft, but I am really excited to have a place to smoke in the house.

I will update the thread as progress is made.

My man cave consists of a 13" tv thats gotta be 30 years old sitting on top of my mini fridge on the deck. so to say I may be a little jealous is prolly an understatement.

Oh yes... this should be done in the next few weeks. Well... I may not have the TV for a little while, but the room itself will be done.

The door opens out on the side of the house where the herf barn will be. I'm hoping that will be done by Nov.

Well... the herf barn has become a huge want. I have several smokers and wanted a place for them with a three bay sink and a prep area. The barn kind of grew out of that. It will be 20 X 40 with ten feet being enclosed. The eclosed part will be the kitchen. The rest is open with ceiling fans to help keep it cool. It should serve the CCHC well.:tu

I guess that means when you move down there, instead of an hour drive to meet you in Yulee, I will have to drive 2 hours to Ocala to smoke. Oh well that will give me a chance to go see my great aunt that lives there too.:tu

I was down at the new house yesterday working and though I would post an update on the Smokin' Gator Cave. It may not look like much... but there really has been progress!!

The whole where the hot tub was is fixed, sub floor is all in, and the tile is being put down.

It is hard to see in the picture, but the box with the TV coax and phone line is in on the wall. The switch for the ceiling fan is also on that wall next to the door.

The ceiling fan mount is in the ceiling. The smoke eater is at the house and will be mounted on the back wall. The windows are ordered and should be in this week. The door is ready to put in. The AC duct work should be done this week. They are also running me a piece of PVC in the attic from just above where the TV will be to the back of the room. That way I can pull wires for surround sound/stereo/etc in the future.

I was also really surprised when he told me how many square feet it is. It is an odd shaped room so it was hard for me to guess... but I was thinking maybe 120 square feet. It is actually a little over 300.

It has been a while since I have posted an update to the man cave project. We have finally moved in the house and while there are still lots of little things to do I figured I should show the progress:

The view from my recliner!!! It is a 40 inch Sony Bravia with a HD DVR. I have never had a TV larger than 32 inches and never had a DVR. I am really stoked about this set up!

The room has a vent for heat/air, but it just isn't staying cool enough. Yesterday I bought a freestanding AC unit that should cool the room to true cave likeness! I will get the venting installed this week... but let me officially say...
