Please look - damaged package
Thank you Kevin. Please PM me as I can't find your username.
I received an empty and flattened box today that was stamped "MAIL RECEIVED WITHOUT CONTENT" as you see below. This is the first time this has happened in literally hundreds of shipments to me. Mailed in Anaheim, CA http://cfrhn.com/CA/images/photo.jpg |
Re: Please look - damaged package
Fred, Kevins avatar is Savor the Stick...
and I wonder where the "contents" went to?? |
Re: Please look - damaged package
not good. A good reminder for us all to use about 24 cents more tape than you think you should.

Wow...sorry to hear about that

Re: Please look - damaged package
Mail carriers are uniformed service members, right?
I kid, but that's a shame. Every so often something like this happens, but remember all the millions and millions of pieces of mail that make it through without no problems. All in all, they do a great job. But it is too bad this happened. |
Re: Please look - damaged package
That doesn't look good at all. From the size of the box, looks as tho some mailroom worker in America is happy tonight. I've never been a big fan of reusing boxes in the mail. They seem to break down pretty quick. Priority boxes are the way to go.

Re: Please look - damaged package
That sucks for everyone involved. A few weeks back UPS damaged a package of mine in CA. They shipped it back to me and charged me return freight.
They damaged it Sent it back and charged me again  When I called about a claim, the hoops I have to jump through just aint worth the hassle, and THEY KNOW IT, thats why they make it so hard! Chas |

Re: Please look - damaged package
sorry to hear that.
I, like an idiot, mailed cash to all my nephews and nieces (7 total) over Christmas, and all but 2 came back as opened without contents. |

Re: Please look - damaged package
Thanks Fred for letting me know.
That really burns me. I had taped it up real good, someone deliberately opened it. :fl:fl:fl:fl:fl |
Re: Please look - damaged package
So the question is, where did the package get opened at? There has to (or should) be an entry made when the box was first noticed opened and then scanned with a written entry indicating same. Time to contact a postal inspector and start pinpointing the area of the theft...

Re: Please look - damaged package
Not to talk bad about any of the fine folks that work for the US postal system but we pretty much have to have everything but bills sent to our work addresses now. My fiance was really hurt that she got no birthday cards...turns out that over 10 were sent. Some with checks, some with cash, some with gift cards. The P.O. did absolutely nothing, the investigation went nowhere and nothing has changed at all. It is going be tough to try to put "send gifts and cards to my work address" on tactfully our wedding invitations.

Re: Please look - damaged package
Yes, especially when it is for a charitable donation. I don't like to jump to conclusions, but you say it was taped up very well and that only leaves one scenario.
How about we turn this into something positive. What was in there? Maybe between the bunch of us we can replace it all. |

Damn, Fred. Sorry to hear this.

Re: Please look - damaged package
Sorry to see what had happened. Must have been pretty big too! Lots of postage paid there!

Re: Please look - damaged package
I have used USPS shipping for my leather goods for years with no problems
BUT ...Everything I ship is insured for the full price of goods, And I hve invoices to prove it. An extra 50 cents to $2. is worth it ... But if it's lost or stolen they will ask you for proof of value. That is where the adressed invoice comes in .... Old saying ... Fu@# Me? ....Noooooooo ... Fu## YOU!. |

Re: Please look - damaged package
That is terrible. I can't believe that they did that to you. Hopefully, it's the last. I've never had that happen and never seen that before.

Re: Please look - damaged package
This is the 1st package I sent to Fred. I sent 2. I hope the next one gets to him that has a 10'er for the troops and another 3 for Fred.
I gotta calm down......it's just stuff after all. |
Re: Please look - damaged package
Makes you wonder if it's worth getting the DC! Sure- it arrived- but empty! This IS terrible, but, happily, unusual. Just think of places like Latin America and Africa- you just about need to send anything Registered!
Still- this is bad, and you would think that the DC should allow some sort of tracing as to where the contents vanished! |
Re: Please look - damaged package
That sucks. I have been using insurance and DC#'s to protect myself after I have learned the hard way from some dishonest customers.
I also can say this with tons of bad experiences. USPS does a terrible job. If I offended you, please come to Austin and you can see why. Prior to a couple months ago my old mail man wouldn't deliver mail until around 8:30-9:00 PM. He would also bring the packages to the door, but leave the mail in the box...talk about lazy. I have had more than the every-once-and-a-while package go missing, or be damaged. I have had several packages returned, or never even attempted to be delivered to my house. Sorry you got a package like that. Best of luck! |
Re: Please look - damaged package
Sorry I'm late in responding. First, I have received hundreds of packages from you guys and this is the first time I've ever had a problem. For what it's worth the USPS does a pretty good job IMHO. Sh*t happens and I appreciate Kevin's unselfish and generous effort. :tu
If this was intentional you could have sealed this in a 55gal drum and not have prevented theft. Maybe we should start using those explosive dye packages that banks use for the hold-up money! :r :r Thank you to all who stepped up in true inmate fashion to help make this right and support the troops. :tu |
Re: Please look - damaged package
Wow, that really sucks. Not to pile on the USPS guys but if you give any dishonest guy a job with an opportunity to steal he's gonna take it. I'm sure your package wasn't the first to be emptied by this creep, and won't be the last. Until someone that works with him and knows what's going on turns him in, it's probably xmas everyday for this @ss.

Re: Please look - damaged package
Something similar once happened to me with an order from Cabelas . I ordered a pocket knife and a few days later the box came , no knife , just the box that the knife was once in . I called Cabelas and they sent a replacement right out in an unmarked box . Kudos to Cabelas ! Sorry for your theft problem .
