Re: We are still here
Despite what CNN and some of the national news media outlets have reported in the past few days....
We are still here. CNN reported on Sat that we had all evacuated, :fu, idiots. It is kind of funny watching the large media outlets stumble over each other to see who can try to make our situation the most tragic. The best part, last week a CNN reporter was arrested here for standing on one of the temporary dikes. It might not sound serious, but walking around on top of sandbags that have been put in place could cause them to shift, then fail. The water is going down slowly, but it's going down. We are sitting in a snow storm right now. You can listen live to our local radio station/motivator streaming 24 hours a day at http://www.kfgo.com/. |

Re: We are still here
Thanks all.
I ask that if you all can to click on the link to http://www.kfgo.com/ and listen to the live stream for a few hours. We might seem "small town" to the majority of the nation, but this is the $hit, WE, and many cities and people that think like we do, are the foundation of this country. We will never give up. FEMA wants us to leave...:fu Consider the cost to the people of this country if we give up and leave... hmm, maybe that's why FEMA or the goverment wants us to leave... something to think about. Our mayor and the people that he has working for him have been through this before, not on this scale, but damn close to it and they know exactly what they are doing. WTF does FEMA know, FEMA, in my opinion, is the best collection of dumdas$es that this nation has. At least all the "experts" are in one place and all they have given to us so far is "recommendations". To me, after Katrina, FEMA is code for JOKE. *sigh* OK, I'm off the soapbox now. I want to thank all of you for your thought and prayers. Bless you. Too bad we are not out of this yet, wish us all the luck. |

Re: We are still here
Just a little update.
The good, the river level has dropped 4-5 feet in the last few days. The bad, 2 days ago we were nailed with a pretty good snow storm that left us with about 10 inches of snow that is now melting and will have to make it's way in to the river. Even worse, 30 miles south of us, they received over 20 inches of snow that is now melting and will end up in the river and will have to pass by us. We are not exactly out of the woods just yet. They are expecting the river to crest again within the next 2 weeks or so. We have a couple of schools that are wondering when they can open again to get the kids back. The city made a pretty good size mess out of some of the soccer fields so the areas around the schools are not exactly the safest. They dug them up for the clay to use to build levees, one is about 45 foot deep. It looks more like a construction area, there is greasy mud everywhere. |
