Fantasy Hockey 08-09

Looks like most of the participants of our FH League have found their way over to the Asylum.

We can use this thread to communicate, trash, talk, ask questions, etc...

Same stakes as last year....everyone sends 2 Premium cigars to the winner, and one to second place.

Chime in if you are in the league, and have joined the Asylum...I know I have seen many of you here. :)

Bout time you guys let me know where you all were! I obviously work too much and missed a $hitload of what has gone on in the last few weeks.

You know how I found out? I went to go buy a new iPod (after 4 years on my old one) for all of my business traveling. I uploaded the DogWatch podcast which I haven't listened to in 2 years and they started talking about it on there. I was like WTF????

Then, I was lost. And then Tom found me! HAHAHAHAHA

Oh...and since this is the FH thread, will you guys pleeeeeeeease let me win this year? LOL

Not enough goalies:bh

We need to change the rules so we start getting stats for warmups. Then my goalies would start putting up numbers:r

I think I have 3 games out of my goalies so far this season :bh

Perhaps I should become accustom to rankings in the teens, because I don't think I am going to see the top 10

The team that is leading a specific category (e.g. goals, assists) receives the most points (i.e. 16).

Example
Team Y has 10 goals
Team X has 6 goals
Team Z has 1 goal

Then Team Y gets 3 points, team X gets 2 points, and team Z gets 1 point

This gets repeated for every category. 16 being the best because we have 16 teams.

I am so clueless with this I have lost interest.

Does everyone on the roster play or only the starting line?

Exactly...the team with the most goals for the season gets 16, 2nd gets 15, so on until last place which gets 1. The total of points like this in each category are added to create your score listed in the standings.

PHUCK!

There are a maximum number of games at each position. I believe 246 for center for example (3 centers for 82 NHL games). If you have 45 centers on your roster, you still only can plau centers in a total of 246 games, so you use your best centers regularly, and the others for when regs are injured, when someone else gets "hot", or in your utility spots.

Gotta love my team...score goals but don't pass (no assists) and have a crappy +/-. Sounds like my college team.:c

I don't even have a starting goalie. I think next year we should cut down on some of the positions.

First complaint I have had about that in 4 years of running it....We can tweak it next year if the majority feel that way.

I used the pre-rankings and got 3 good starters and 2 back-ups....but I paid for it by getting less quality scorers than most.

I've been a fantasy hockey commissioner many times and this is always a complaint. I'm in a league with only 11 managers and only two starting goalie spots and it still is a complaint. But everyone is on an even playing field no matter which way you go so I don't mind it at all. However in this league you do have to pay a little more attention to who's actually starting if you have several backups.

I didn't pre-rank my players and I got three starters but none of them are great.

I used the pre-rankings as well. Did not mean it as a complaint. Just a suggestion for next year. I knew going in that there more g positions than starters in the league. I should have changed my rankings. Thanks for running this.

Absolutely...I didn't take it wrong, I certainly want the guys who participate every year to have some say in what we do. Took some suggestions to eliminate penalty minutes and a couple other categories, and to limit trades this year. Hopefully next year we can tweak it even better. :D

Dammit I dropped the wrong player! I picked up Pascal Dupuis and dropped Zubrus. Then I meant to drop Arnason for Versteeg but dropped Dupuis instead. I guess you can tell who I had on my mind. :) Foxy by proxy, baby.

Why do we get negative points sometimes?

If you are looking at the regular leader board the negative points only reflect the change in your total score. If you were at 100 on tuesday and another team surpassed you in a category (e.g. goals) than you might be at 99 on wednesday thus reflecting a -1 on your total score. If you go to the full scoreboard you will see all the "raw" stats along with the fantasy scoring. Hope that helps:tu

We can do that, James. I think we can have a thread during the summer for the 16 participants where we can hash out changes we would like to see for the next round.

I would like to have players that pass the puck more and are not on the ice when the other team scores. Can we change that for me next year;)

Why can't Skille stay in the show? He should have stayed at the UW if he's going to play in the IHL. Too bad.
