Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
When I had a drip coffee maker I used a solution of 30% vinegar to water and put it through a couple of times. Then a couple more times of just water to clean out the vinegar.
You can also by some stuff called "Dip It" at the grocery store (usually with the coffee); it also works pretty well, but more expensive than vinegar. |
Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
I agree with Michael except I only use white vinegar

Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
For the pot I use bleach and water. No clue what the percentages are. I have a squirt bottle of bleach by the sink and I put a shot in the vacuum bottle, fill the rest with water and let it sit. My tap water is the pits so I use distilled or very clean RO water for brewing, in turn, I only have stains to worry about and no scaling.

Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
Laura, are you looking to clean the actual pot?
I know the pot from my Brazen got real nasty looking. I used a solution of Cafiza and water, let it soak and the carafe looked good as new. I don't know if it's safe for glass, but this is the same stuff I soak my portafilters in, and it makes them sparkle as well. For cleaning the guts of the pot, the simple vinegar and water solution will work, or you can grab yourself some descaler . |
Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
Pour straight white vinegar into the water chamber until it fills to about 50%.
Run about half the vinegar through and turn off brew cycle. Let soak for about 5 minutes. Turn back on and run the remaining vinegar through. Rinse twice with two full pots of clean water. |

Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
Yes this is for my Brazen.
I use a Zero to filter my water for the machine, so I am not getting the build up in that. I just need the pot cleaned out, which is looking rough and no Vinegar wont work for that I tried it already. Quote:

Re: Cleaning a coffee pot
Where do you guys get straight vinegar? The stuff I come across always says Reduced to 5% Acidity and I don't think that's the right stuff?
