Hemingway Signature Sweetened tip?

I went to a shop I don't ordinarily go to and bought some sticks today. One was an AF Hemingway Signature, I swear the thing has a sweetened tip. Not like sweet tobacco this one has been dipped or infused in something. I let the wife taste it and she said it tasted fruity (It does, like an ACID almost.) I thought maybe they had let it sit around the ACIDs for too long but the rest of the cigar doesn't taste sweetened (Yes I licked the whole thing.)

This ever happened to anyone else? I don't smoke Hemingways all the time or anything but I can't recall ever having one with a sweetened tip. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention?

I'm sorry, I can't stop envisioning you licking the whole cigar with a puzzled look on your face

LOL.. The only one I've smoked tastes like a cigar. Maybe the B&M has females working that wear really strong lotion and showcased the stick to someone before you picked it up, thus imparting a sweet flavor to the tip?

Also, I don't know if saline from your mucus is going to help age your cigar. I would avoid licking cigars in public as well. Might get the wrong image on display.

You just made me think of a possibility involving flavored chap stick, I think I'm going to hurl.

I was going to suggest that, but in all honesty I highly doubt someone in a B&M would pick up a cigar and start puffing on the cap without purchasing it. And I doubt the person working would allow that either. I doubt it was something so sinister anyways.

That's pretty strange... are you sure it wasn't just the sweetness of the Cameroon wrapper?

There is a crappy b&m by me that I avoid at all cost. I ran in there Christmas Eve, and a customer put the cigar in his mouth inside the
the humidor. I began to watch him. He goes to pay for it, she tells him 9.80. As he hands her his debit card she tells him there is a $10 minimum to use a card. He says ok and asks her to charge his card $10. The woman tells him she can't and tells him to buy some crappy cigarillo on the counter for 1.00 to get over $10. The guy declines. Puts the cigar on the counter and walked out.

Nasty!

100% positive.

The Hemingway Series does NOT have a Sweetened tip.

Guaranteed.

I would say the B&M got what they deserved. I've charged many cigars at many places that were less than $10 and was never asked to spend 10. I agree, it's nasty because she probably put it right back in the box knowing he had it in his mouth.

I have had this happen before with a AF Short Story. I attribute this to any natural sugars in the leaf.

So you are familiar with that specific B&M's terms of agreement with their CC processor as to know what their contractual minimum charge is to not have to pay a fee?

I'm also curious where the assertion that the cigar was placed back in the box came from?

I have had a few hemingways that had a sweet taste to them. I attributed it to the gum used on the wrappers.

Re: Hemingway Signature Sweetened tip?

This was absolutely not under any circumstances a natural occuring flavor in the leaf, it wasn't slightly sweet, it was so sweet and cloying that it prompted me to lick the whole darn thing to see wtf was going on.

I guess it could have been the gum, maybe it was overapplied to the cap and that's why it was just the tip that tasted sweet. Now I kind of wish I hadn't pitched it when I thought about the chapstick possibility.

Not a chance. The substance used to glue the cap and finish the wrap is completely tasteless. If the "glue" in fact had any flavor then we all would have similar experiences as all cigars use similar types of vegetable glue. Just like pectin it adds absolutely no flavor to the cigar. :2

Fuente Sun Grown wrappers taste very sweet sometimes.
