My air conditioner died...
...and with a heat wave coming, I'm wondering if it would be viable to temporarily put my humi in the fridge.

It would be to cold. It would work however to keep them cool. Maybe wrap a towel around the humi.

I think you could wrap it in newspaper, then plastic then repeat and get away with it....cold be damned.
Hell you folks on this board FREEZE your cigars and claim no ill effects. |
Re: My air conditioner died...
Putting them in a cooler is a good idea. Frozen bottle of water is a very bad idea -- lots of condensation which will raise the RH.
What do you expect your ambient temperatures to be during the heat wave (both highs and lows). It may be that your cigars will be fine for the duration. |

I was thinking I'd rest my humi on a few coffee mugs in the cooler to elevate it above the bottom, creating a bilge for the condensation. |
Re: My air conditioner died...
Your best bet would be wrap the humi and the water. The last thing you want it the wood to rot ( assuming it is a wood humi).
