Thats awesome that you were there. I saw on the bottom line on the heat game that santana was taking the no no into the 9th. Had to switch to it. Im glad he did it. He is going in the right direction this season and hopefully his success will continue

For the last few years, my boss and I had a running joke that whenever I went to a game the Mets lost. The year the Mets had the late season collapse, I went to 3 of the final 8 games - all losses. I can't believe I was there last night for something so historic.

And we fall a 1/2 game outta first. Rauch is killing is this year. Everytime he comes in, he gives up runs. :bh

Re: New York Mets 2012 Banter

The bullpen strikes yet again. Despite allowing three runs, Gee pitched a nice 7 innings. Given the last couple complete game wins, I had hoped Collins would have left him stay in for at least the 8th inning.

Re: New York Mets 2012 Banter

Mets draft Cecchini, Gavin Barbe HS, LA SS R/R HS 6'02" 180lbs.

Bloodlines are always a good thing, so the fact that Cecchini's brother, Garin, was a 2010 draftee and now in the Red Sox organization doesn't hurt. The younger Cecchini, however, is more than making a name for himself.Cecchini has a quick stroke with good extension, enabling him to make consistent hard contact. He's got mostly gap power now and his speed plus instincts allow him to be a basestealing threat and take the extra base. Those instincts also help him defensively. While his hands are good and he grades out as average with his arm and range, some think a move to second might be better. Either way, this scrappy middle infielder is sure to get plenty of looks in the spring.

To be fair, I blame the horrific defense. Valdespin's 2 errors in one inning killed Parnell's outing.

Can't win games when we give up errors on simple ground balls.

kelmac07 06-06-2012 04:38 PM

Re: New York Mets 2012 Banter

I agree...Valdespin probably owns the L for that game. But it's so easy to lay it on the bullpen...worst in the MLs. :r :r

Met's have had a tough few games. Not good with interleague starting Friday against a couple decent teams.

The Mets enjoy a much needed win this afternoon against the 1st place Nats (3-1). Another nice outing by Dickey. Now they get to head back to NY with a bit of confidence going after the Yankees.

Just gave up a 2 run HR to Cano. Why is Ike Davis not in the minors? I heard them say something about not wanting to damage his confidence. WTF???? He's hitting .160...send his ass down to get that stroke back.

I also heard that they didn't want to move Duda to first (his natural position) and get him out of rhythm. We have to do something about Ike.

Also, not really enjoying the 7-8-9 batters in a row - Ike, Bay and Quintanilla. Yikes.

9-1 ass whooping from the Evil Empire last night...and we only managed TWO hits. :bh :bh

Gee, you think they can win in The Bronx today? ;)

Shotty defense and the bullpen contribute to losing a 3-0 lead...and getting swept. :bh :bh :bh

Everyone but the Nats lost in the NL East...so no harm done.

Last I checked the Nats were in first.
How is falling a game further behind no harm done?
Unless of course the Mets are only playing for Third place.

Third place (this year) would be a welcome surprise.

Yeah, I'd agree that contending for a wild-card exceeds the preseason expectations I had for them, plus there's all the injuries to boot . . . not to mention all those "batters" (to use the term loosely) struggling to keep their heads within snorkling distance of the Mendoza line. Still, I'm hoping they can turn in around against the Rays.

Tell you what, Mac. My boys will do their best to beat up on the Braves for you, if yours try to take two or three from Tampa. :tu

Re: New York Mets 2012 Banter

Mets did their part...beating the Rays 11-2, as the offense finally woke up. And sole possesion of third place in the NL East.
