Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
You can see where I silicone sealed the seams to keep the front "accessory" compartment from leaking out the humidity...

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
That thing is amazing. I know I can't afford it, but I have to ask. Are we talking $2000+, $4000+, $6000+...
I know it's a good investment. |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Received my Humi from ED. I will post pictures up this weekend. I will have to wait to get the humidity set in her as I will be buying beads and a remote humidity gauge with 2 to 3 sensors.
This thing is huge! Thanks Ed for getting her out to me and the great packaging. |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
It's been a while since I've posted....but will be having a few coming off the bench within the next couple of days.... I built out trays for 5 of them today... just a little clean up on 'em and they'll be ready.... Some interesting combinations coming up....
Been working on this one as well... she's not quite done, but close enough... I'll post again after she's lacquered up.... Just got a little exited... Bird's Eye Maple & Gabon Ebony.... 30" x 14" x 10" for about 550 count..... Did a few different things with this one.... She has a hidden accessory drawer, elevated legs, Two Way Mirror for the lid...which offers pretty cool reflection of your stogies when ya open it up.... surrounded by an inlay of cigar bands.... Wrought iron handles & a lock.... phew... glad she's about done! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106/1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106/2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106/3.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106/4.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106/5.jpg |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread

|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Ed that is a thing of beauty. Wow that ebony really makes the maple pop.
|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
wow, I knew this one was going to be great when you posted progress pics a while back. The mirror is a really great feature.

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
A few more off the bench today....
Lacewood.... 17" x 12" x 7" 200 Count 2 Full Trays & Two Half Trays.... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH112F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH112F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH112F3.jpg |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Walnut
20x12x9 300 Count Two Full Trays Two Half Trays Crumb Catcher & Two Bead Trays That spot on the front in the first picture is just the light playing tricks with some of the curl.... it looks great in person! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH110F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH110F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH110F3.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH110F4.jpg |

Walnut & Cocobolo
11.75 x 9.5 x 6 95 Count Crumb Catcher & Full Tray http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH115F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH115F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH115F3.jpg |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Lignum Vitae (Tree of Life) & Brazilian Ebony...
15x10x6.5 130 Count Two Half Trays Bead Tray This wood is probably the most expensive I've worked with.... It is the densest wood on the market. It will turn a turquoise greenish color and the brazilian ebony will get to nearly black..... No finish at all on it... just natural It has maritime connections - and the BOTL that ordered happened to be in Charleston on the day it finiished.... He's a yacht captain for somebody... that's why he wanted the Lignum Vitae.... Cool Stuff! Picture myself and the Dan, the BOTL who ordered... I'm the guy on the left. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH114F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH114F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH114F3.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../DSC01497a.jpg |

Scott's Humi!!!
18x12x9 275 Count Crumb Catcher, Bead Tray Four Half Trays.... She's a sweetheart! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH116F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH116F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH116F3.jpg |

You are talented Ed!
|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
It amazes me every time I visit this thread. I will own one of these one day.
|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Those are some beautiful Humidors Ed! I think my favorite is the lacewood and quilted on the bottom shelf of the desk in the picture with you and Dan. That lignum vitae looks like a crazy wood too. It seems to change color depending on the angle and light.
More Humidors OFF the bench means more room for mine to go ON the bench... Can't wait!! :wo Randy |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Where's Waldo!
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/DSC01552.jpg This humidor is for Ranger_B... winner of the "Support the Troop" raffle.... he wanted a cigar band lid...and sent me the bands.... took a few hours this morning and pieced 'em together.... Oh yeah, I cleaned that smudge off my camera lens that is evident in the top right of the pics.... lol http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/DSC01548.jpg |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Man it looks like the grand canyon from 40000ft. Crazy patterns in there.
|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
I LOVE IT! If you only knew how much time I've already spent finding different things in that pattern you'd probably stage an intervention. Some main sights from a pow-wow with coworkers have been: two different versions of a viking warrior (i'm from Minnesota), a Dragonfish and a devil-monkey. Anyone have anything else?!
Thanks for the update Ed... I love watching this thing as it progresses. It looks awesome! Randy |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
I know I had posted some pics of this along the way... but, I just finished her up today and thought I would post the final pics.....
Bird's Eye Maple & Macassar Ebony 30" x 14" x 9" (more like 12" counting legs & drawer) 540 Count Two way mirror/cigar band lid Hidden Drawer - sort of disappears in to the front molding.... The BOTL that owns this humidor told me a very touching story that involved his father..... so, it was decided to name this humidor... "My Father" Enjoy..... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106F3.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106F4.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../WMWH106F5.jpg |

|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Wow just wow that humidor is stunning!
|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Ed, my first official post on this forum. My friend, you are one of the most talented people I have ever met. You took my ideas and made them a reality. This humidor definitely has a story both from my end and yours.
Now get that thing shipped over!! Thanks again my friend!! |
