Question: I'm not well versed like you guys so I'm looking for a solution or three. My wife doesn't like beer in general, but she picked me up a Sam Adams variety pack the other day and drank the Chocolate Bock and liked it. What are some other brews in that vein that she would like? Thanks.

Had a Great Lake Christmas Ale and a Sam Adams Winter Lager between classes, now drinking a Founders Breakfast Stout.

Re: What beers are you enjoying?

A local pub just tapped a firkin of the Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA...got to get over there before it's gone...

http://www.dogfish.com/community/new...simul-cask.htm

Johnny Cask has entered the building! We've retrofitted a 15 barrel tank to perfectly produce a very special cask conditioned ale (so, we have a little time to play around during winters at the Delaware coast). This beer, known as Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA is a blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a special whole leaf cascade dry-hopping session. Post-hopping the beer gest transferred into firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup from the ole family homestead (actually the first batch will be re-fermented with maple syrup from the farm up the road from ours since ours won't be ready until late March. We plan to ramp up our maple house activities to get a lot more syrup for Immort Ale, 75 Minute and future beers in the coming months and years).

Cool. Thanks for the suggestions. Are either of those going to be "bitter" to the taste at all?

To me the Rouge is roasty and chocolaty but not excessively sweet; think baking chocolate. I only had the SA Choc Bock when it was in the bomber, but I think Rouge's has a similar profile. Left Hand's Milk Stout kind of sweet and creamy - I know several people who really like it who don't tend to like beer. I don't find either bitter, but I have the palate of a goat (and I like bitter - Stone Ruination = :al)

I agree, the ones we all mentioned have very little to no bitterness, at least to me

My :2 about Rouges Chocolate Stout its more of a dark chocolate flavor. The Double Chocolate Stout seemed a tad lighter. Will be cracking my second/last DCS this month.

The only one I've had is Young's Double Chocolate Stout, which I really liked.

Sipped on a Guinness Draught the other night (thats the one with the widgit in the bottle). Can't say I really "enjoyed it", but the only reason I'm tipping one from time to time is a good friend had brought over a case for me.

He just misunderstood when I told him I enjoy "Guinness Extra Stout" in a bottle. Probably needs to tune his hearing up:D

i have a drink that a friend told me about and now i'm hooked. Its not exactly beer (only).

You take a pint of strongbow and add a shot of Jameson. The ycall it a "johnny jump up". Its a VERY good holiday drink!

Back in August I made a hombrew Vanilla Bourbon Imperial Porter. It seemed pretty harsh initially, but a month or so in the bottle has done wonders for it. No, it's not Founder's KBS, but it's pretty darn nice. I'd feel good sharing this with anybody.

Is the 09 still on the sweet side Eric or as that calmed down?

Still very sweet. And this particular bottle had quite a bit of sediment on the bottom.

This year two tickets per person and 4 bottles per ticket for a total of 8 bottles.

They started running out so when I finally got mine they kicked it down to 3 bottles per ticket. I did get back in line for 3 more bottles so not to bad.

Plan on going next year. Should be in roughly 4 months! :noon

8 bottles is nice. How long did you wait in line last year Dave?

Got there around 10am and waited inline for the brewpub to try Vanilla Bean Dark Lord. Got in the DL line around 4/4:30 and got my beer after 5pm. Spending the night before in the area so I can get there even earlier.
