Yep that it was. It was a single stick in the box press sampler. Pretty good. I preferred it to the regular Armada.

Do you remember which size? Grand reserva by Fuente is a general term for several different individual cigars.

Since you seem like you're new, maybe give the Fuente 858 in either natural or maduro a try. For the price, those are very good cigars. Hell, I've been smoking cigars since 1996, and that one is still in my rotation because it never disappoints me.

umm the label only had Gran Reserva on it. it was roughly bout 7" in length and had a green wrapper on the foot of the cigar. if that helps.

next time i visit the shop i'll see if they have the Fuente 858.

I am trying to see which ones go well with scotch at the moment. lol

i have a bottle of Grants 12 year and a bottle of Glen Fiddich 12 year that i like to drink.

That sounds like a Churchill. The green banded ones generally use the same blend, but are in different sizes. The ones with the black bands, like the Fuente Don Carlos and the Fuente Hemingway, are a different blend. Now here's where it gets complicated. You will find the ones with the black ribbon at the foot. Those are the sungrown wrapper, and are pretty spicy in flavor, but IMO very good. Red ribbon at the foot like the Fuente Fuente OpusX, and some rosado wrapper selections like the hard to find rosado 858 and rosado Hemingway, are top shelf cigars, but if you try an OpusX for the first time, make sure you eat a full meal before you smoke it, because those babies are full bodied and strong.

Fuente is one of my favorite non-Cuban brands, and they make a lot of cigars. Getting to know which one is which can be confusing!

Couldn't keep it lit, draw was tight, burn problems when it was lit, the stick was heavy as heck but kinda squeshy... not worth the effort on my part bummer

Sounds like it needed a little more time. Most of the Toraños I've smoked were like that. After a month or so in the box, they were perfect.

Kevin...based on your picture, this has to be a 2010 or earlier. 2011 was the first year they started producing this stick in a 6X50 toro size. Not a fan of the 2010 myself...but the 2011 & 2012 :dr :dr The 2008s were fantastic as well.

It's a darned good stick. Well built, very meaty tasting. And like I said, in high humidity...my darker sticks tend to tunnel...this one was perfect...no touching up required.

Holts has a 6-pack of Old Henry Maduro Belicosos for $20. I'm picking up some of these as the robusto ended too quickly.

Me too few days off the truck. I have to say this batch needs some rest. The box had been fresh lacquered and had an intense lacquer aroma and I am picking up a chemical taste on the cigar. I wish they had not done that but c'est la vie. The cigar burns wonderfully and I will let them sit a month to air out as I can see a lot of potential.

Well that sucks. I have a couple boxes and I don't get any hints of chemical. Very sad indeed. Good price, tasty stick. I hope they clear up for you. I have the Robusto and Torpedo's Both boxes are lacquered but zero smell on them.
