Will have to get the Ron Centenario XX next. :tu

I have also come to enjoy Ron Anejo Botran Solera 1893 and Oronoco. I would have to say my favorites so far are Havana Club 7yr, Zacapa XO, Zaya and the Diplomaticos Reserva but I still have a lot of rums to try.

Sweet haul!!!

Diplomaticos is tasty!!!

I just got an e-mail from SV. This stuff is on sale right now for <$30 before shipping. Here's a link: http://www.shoppersvineyard.com/stor...M-302p8827.htm

And there's a shipping discount code for the rest of May. SV5 will get you $5 off shipping. I picked up a bottle of it, and a bottle of Zaya. I've never had either, and haven't been able to find them locally.

Hope this helps a BOTL. :tu

anybody like flavored rums? I do appreciate a good flavored rum. Don't get me wrong I love the Pyrat, ron Zacapa, and Zimcaya rums. But I really like the vanilla flavored rums like Brimley gold and there is a rum called Sebastion's that you can get in tortola. Its fantastic. Calypso Island, now made by cruzan, used to be absolutely amazing, but since they were bought out, they changed and are not as good.

I had some Ron Abuelo 12 yr over the weekend. It was very smooth. It had a nice clean finish.

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between the older bottles of Zaya and the newer ones since the factory was moved?

I understand that there is a slight difference in the labeling but I have no idea as to what it is.

The old bottles say Guatemala, the new, Trinidad, if that is what you mean, sir.
There are one or two other small differences, as I recall, but that is the easiest to remember.

That is great info. I was not aware of the difference in countries, but that is a big help and very easy to remember.

No more Guat searching for me.

I am still looking for my white whale... a bottle of Zacapa with the full palm weave.

Pick up some Pyrat today and I really like the citrus notes. I like it better than the Zaya and the Zacapa is the favorite so far.

Shawn,

I am pretty sure I can get that here. If you want I'll check and see. I'd be happy to pick one up and ship it to you via Fed-X. I've never had a problem shipping spirits to friends or receiving them. Let me know.

Santa Teresa has been on my to find list for a long while now. Was in a little store over in Maryland Sunday cause they had Cruzan Cream Rum on sale for $10 a bottle - and while looking over the shelf's - right there on the top was my prize. Three bottles. I bought two and my friend Bob got one. He said he didn't know what it was but if I was buying two he better grab the last one.

Santa Teresa, huh? The liquor store by our new place here had a good selection when I was in there a few weeks ago. I'll have to loom for it next time I go in there. :)

I'm not big into spiced and/or flavored rums myself - but - if you run across some "Shipwreck Spiced Rum" you may want to try a bottle or two. I've had several bottles now and enjoy it from time to time.

Run Abuelo 12yrs from Panama is a personal favorite. I drank allot of it when I lived there. Unfortunately you can't find it in Canada. Another great sipping Rum is Zecappa 15 or 25yr from Guatemala.

Ron Abuelo is one of, if not my favorite. We trek down to Panama about once every two years or so, and we always bring back four bottles.

Sure thing Peter. And if you can't really find something in those pictures I could always bust open one of the bottles of Zaya "Guatemalan" - in addition to whatever you could find in the other 70 or 80 bottles I might have on hand.

Say - don't you have a trip planned out this way this fall? :ss

Yeah - give or take a few bottles. Probably give. Here is a list from 2009 that I haven't updated since then. When I get my little mini bar area done in the next month, and my shelves up, then I will inventory again.

That bottle of Zafra has me very intrigued. I have read some excellent reviews on it but have yet to pull the trigger due to its price.

I tried the Captains Private Stock this week. Neat and with a cube. A bit of a "cheap, chemical tasting, artificial baking vanilla" finish to it.
I will probably consume the rest with some coke zero or something.

When I drink the Captains, I only drink the Private Stock but I don't sip it - a little Coke Zero helps it.

So popped the cork on one bottle of Santa Teresa 1796 tonight. Had a bit more bite than I expected - but very good flavor and a long long aftertaste.

Been wanting a bottle of Santa Teresa for so long that maybe my expectations for it were a bit high. Compared to the El Dorado 15 I had last night (staple in my collection) - the El Dorado had less bite and a lot sweeter.

Overall though - Santa Teresa is a great rum, really impressed by the long aftertaste that lingers.

Hardly touched??? That's just sinful there. The 21 has been on my "to get" list for some time now. I have a couple bottles of 18 but haven't found 21 yet. Guess one of these days I'll have to break down and start using mail order.
