Pretty late commenting on the Miami game, it's been busy. Let's just say I'm glad the offense changed over to a no-huddle for the second half and got on track. I did not recognize that team out there in the first half.
The good thing - We won and have a first round bye.
The bad - yikes - the first half!

I do not think there will be a lack of motivation for Buffalo this week after that early season loss, so... Pats should end up as #1 seed in AFC with home field until the Super Bowl. Just imagine, talking super bowl with the worst defense in the league . Maybe I'm delerious but ....

Re: Patriots Fans

AFC East Champs - check
First Round Bye - check
Home Field throughout playoffs - check

and along the way - the best record in the AFC. All with no defense!

Congrats Pats on a great season. Ask yourself, why do you watch football? If it is to see great offensive play, watch a future hall of fame QB in his prime, cheer for a never say die team, and cheer for a team good enough to have the best record in football in that past decade then you should be a Patriots fan, like me. :)

Now still on the checklist:
win AFC championship _____
win Super Bowl ____

It should be fun to watch.

I'm a Pats fan, but you know what the Pats have not beaten a team with a winning record :sh
The playoffs are a whole different animal they will be one and done unless they get the Bangles first game?
The Pats get behind early like the last few weeks they will get blown out?
I hope not just being realistic.

Re: Patriots Fans

Didn't play this week and still lots of news. In the "who woulda thunk it" catagory...we are going to play Tim Tebow and the Broncos AGAIN. Oh, and to make it more interesting we'll have Josh McDaniels on the sideline. You know, Hollywood writers wouldn't dare write this stuff - too implausible.
Here are my concerns:
* We won the first game primarily because of turnovers, I'm not so sure we can depend on them for this next one.
* Tebow listened to Elway and actually pulled the trigger a number of times vs. the Steelers - I know only 50% or so completions... but -well you know- Wow! If he throws deep like that against our secondary - bad news.
* Then there is this whole what I call "player perception" thing. Let me explain. I really believe that once a team has decisively beaten someone during a season that they come out flat for their second meeting. Witness the Patriots against the Jets last year. No matter how much the coaches drill them or the players themselves say what a great team the opponent is, deep down in their subconscious they feel that they are better and just don't play as hard. This also happens with teams that they ave not yet played, but just feel they are better than - witness the first Buffalo game this year or the deficits they have allowed themselves to get into the last three games. Short version: I'm real concerned about the Patriots coming out flat.
At any rate, we are about to be sujected to another week of Tebow hype. Bottom line is that we should beat these guys easily, but then again Pittsburgh should have too.

No more Brady-Moss; on the scoreboard in 2 minutes. I agree, we need points early. 1st half has to be a success for both offense and defense.

Re: Patriots Fans

There's a lot to love about this time of year!! I always worry about the Pats after a bye week in the playoffs. Most people say "gets the players the rest to recover", I say that it slows the momentum that they had. We haven't had some greats starts lately. I know that they have said that Brady's left arm is hurt, but ever since the Chargers game his right arm hasn't been well either in my opinion. I think that he injured it when he got tackled in that game and has been playing hurt.
Got offered tickets from my ex-boss but the wife has no job right now so from the couch I will be watching.
Hope everyone enjoys the game and I just heard that the first 20,000 people into the stadium get hand warmers!!!

Probably beats Peyton trying to glue his head back onto his neck so that his share of the Geritol can actually be drunk. Vic go on you tube and look up tebowie and let me know what you think.:D

Im not totally sold on Tebow. But two things are self evident:

1) Tebow makes plays.

2) the Pats defense is horrible, probably the worst in the league.

And when a playmaker plays against a crappy defense, anything can happen:)

Wow, not how I expected the Pats D to play!!! I'm glad that they finally did get something together though. I can't believe that Gronk had more yards than Tebow did all together!!!! That's awsome!!!!
I don't know who I'd rather play next week. Houston is the quiet team that's sneakign up on people. Haven't really seen much of them this season for me to like them or not.
Hope all of you that went yesterday are all thawed out now!!!!

Re: Patriots Fans

Now that was FUN, great win by a very motivated team. Both offense and defense obviously came to play. I'm thinking Denver is going to have a really tough decision about which way they want to go at QB for next year. BTW, thanks for firing Josh McDaniel and thanks too to St Louis for letting him go. We're happy to have him back in the fold.
Kudos to the whole team and coaching staff for a very good game plan that was very well executed. Only a couple of (minor) sour notes. TB made one very bad pass and it cost with Denver getting their only TD off the interception. I noticed that he blamed no one but himself on the sideline. Also, I questioned having so many starters still in there in the fourth quarter. Hopefully, Hernandez was not seriously hurt when he went off with some sort of head injury.
A fun thing that may have not been noticed on TV was that the entire stadium was yelling Teeeeeeeeeeeeeebow, Teeeeeeeeeeeeeebow in a derisive tone each time he appeared during the second half. :D
All in all the best game the Patriots have played all year.
Down to the final four now .... next up bigmouth Ray Lewis and the Ravens. Should be even more fun.

AFC Championship is going to be a game for the ages!

I was hoping Raven-Texans would be beat each other up more than they did. This is going to be the toughest game for the Pats in a long time.

Regardless of who you were for, what an awesome game.
An example of the way all Super Bowls should be played.
Kudos to both teams as the py both deserved to be there.

Re: Patriots Fans

Being a huge Pats fan and looks for things to nit-pick on, i could not find any. It was a well played game. I still disagree with Brady trying to go deep for Gronk. It was about 5-10 yards short (not because Gronk had an "ankle sprain"). In the end, our secondary just couldn't keep up. That's been our weakness all season. I am still suprised we made it that far!!
Great game, and although I hate to say it, Congrat Griants.

Some really awful dropped passes by the Pats WR's. Brady made some mistakes as well, but mostly the WR's stopped the Pats from moving up field the last 38 seconds.

Yeah, that was painful to watch. Welker's drop killed me...and I didn't like that long pass to Gronk that got picked...that seemed like a REALLY bad decision.

Congrats to the Giants...they played one hell of a game...and Eli is clearly a beast in the 4th.

Doesn't hurt that he had yet another miraculous catch by a receiver on the game winning drive. Change anything one inch with that pass to Manningham, and it's incomplete. Was about as perfect as it could be, to be a catch.

I'm thinking he threw the ball short, because he might have shortarmed the throw on that pick just a bit in the anticipation of the shot that was being lined up on him.

I think next year is setting up even better for the Pats, though, with the draft picks they have this year. They have 4 picks in the first 2 rounds, if I'm not mistaken, right?

...and let me state, as a Vikings fan, I hate the Giants.

themoneycollector 02-06-2012 06:18 PM

Re: Patriots Fans

It was pretty good game overall.

I think once the Giants made that big play to get into fg range, the pats should have let them just make the td. Instead, they let them waste 2 more minutes off the clock, used up their to's and still ended up handing them the td just so they could get the ball back. It would have given them the ball with 3 minutes instead of 1 to come up with a game winning td. But of course it's all clear in hindsight.

The other one was that defensive penalty that the giants made with 12 men on the field, they didn't reset the clock and that was strange to me.

They'll trade down for 8 thirds and 12 fourths.

And they'll make the playoffs again.

And my torment will continue.
