Yesterday was my 49th birthday. We celebrated with my best friend, who prepared an amazing dinner, and suprised me with 3 Pliny the Elder and 3 Blind Pigs he brought back from a business trip to San Francisco. I was totally suprised. I'd never had either beer before, and see now why they are so highly regarded. It was a great birthday.

Had some of that on tap a couple of weeks ago, surprisingly tasty - kinda salty in a good way. Just finished an Okocim Porter, thinking about a Founders Nemesis 2010 next.

Awesome Sam! They had it on tap at Darkness Day but never got to try it.

Never had Darkness, or even step foot in the Surly Factory so It seems I miss alot of tasty treats ;) But the Surly Smoke went down great!!!

Completely convinced it was not worth the 18$ price tag, and knowing it was a Smoked Lager.... For how dark and rich it was I would still grab a bottle of KBS or Breakfast stout any day, and for kbs = 18$ 4 pack, way more cost effective. :su

Its both a cocktail and a bar in town :tu

1 part Dragonberry rum, 2 parts sprite and a splash of Key lime juice. I feel like a chick drinking it but it tastes like a jolly rancher :tu

Saranac India style Copper Ale.

Tasty. Don't go Saranac too much cause I grew up on it, but I forget, for a "big" craft brewery they arent' that bad.

No head, but there is evident carbonation when you drink it. Wouldn't expect much head at that ABV. Wow. Intense, and delicious. The brandy is VERY evident, but in a good way. Nutty, dark fruits, raisens. Not overly sweet to me, not cloying at all. Absolutely no hop character at all.

If I could afford it this would be a staple.

I'm drinking Surly Cynic Ale tonight. I'm on my second. I've had this several times before, but these ones are really shining. They were canned only last week, so I'm guessing the freshness is making a difference. They seem much more triple-ish than others I've had in the past.
