Deschutes Brewery Jubelale. This years is, as always, very good. It only ever really feels like fall when the Jubel hits the shelves.

Fantastic.

I got a friend out near the Deschutes Brewery, might have to give him a call to grab some Abyss. :tu

Have to give it a try Paul. Don't much care for the pumpkin ales it seems. Then again, don't much care for pumpkin pie so maybe there's a correlation there, :r

Give Southern Tier's Pumking a try if you haven't already. To me the Shipyard was just bland and fizzy...

Got together with a few of my fellow beer loving friends and tried a few things:

Russian River Redemption
Great Divide Old Ruffian
Lost Abbey Red Barn Ale
DFH *****es Brew
Spaten Optimator
DFH Theobroma
Kern River Pumpkin Ale

Looks like you had a line up.

How was the DFH Theobroma?

romwarrior 10-04-2010 12:15 PM

Re: What beers are you enjoying?

I wasn't overly impressed by the Theobroma. It had hints of chocolate but the chiles were practically non-existent. Decent but I won't necessarily be seeking it out again. I'd give it a B.

This.

Not a very good DFH brew at all. I was extremely bored by it.

Drinking Sierra Nevada 30th anniversary Imperial stout. Pretty tasty, my 2nd bottle at 8.99 it's a good buy.

Appropriately, had The Kaiser ;) last night, Avery's Imperial Oktoberfest. Good stuff, kinda on the sweet side.

Followed it up with a SN 30th Anniversary Jack & Ken's Ale (barleywine.) Grew progressively awesomer as it warmed up. :tu

Both were on draft.

Not enjoying anything special tonight besides some Founders Dirty Bastard... but.....
I found what will be home base for me the first two weeks of December!

Good beer, far away from home:

It's a craft brew bar only two miles from my hotel in Tokyo!

Victory Donnybrook Stout
DFH Chateau Jihau

All were tasty but the first two were my favorites

Last night was a bomber of Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale. The best way to describe this beer would be the evil love child of a Imperial Porter and a IPA. The Hops punch you in the face, and then the bitter roasted flavor runs over and steals your wallet. It was awesome.

I went to the tour at Surly Brewing tonight. Lots of fun. Omar seems like a real 'normal' guy. He gave a lot of credit to his parents, who were there. Very nice. Sampled Furoius, Bender, Surlyfest, and CynicAle. IMO Bender deserves more praise. Stopped on the way home at Old Chicago for a bite to eat, had a 2 Hearted Ale. Its been a good night.

I've considered it, but I'm not sure I want to be the lone middle-ager standing in line amongst a thousand 20-somethings. I don't really know any other "beer geeks" locally, and it seems like the type of event where it's best to go with friends. Even at the tour last night I was sort of a loner. I'm guessing there were 75 people there, and almost everyone seemed to have come with one or more friends.
