Anyone ever use Fiocchi ammo?
Seems majority of it is now made in the US. This is a great price given current ammo prices/demand. http://palmettostatearmory.com/index...mjbt-308a.html |

Hey Justin, did you notice that DSGarms makes cigars? :)

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I have run 9mm Fiocchi through a couple of my pistols with no problem. Price is always great with it.

Just filled out an application for a handgun permit and I've never owned one.
Trying to decide what to buy...I want something I can conceal and I can get in the $400-500 range and I'm ok with buying used. Not sure what I really care for as far as 9mm, 40/45, etc and thinking a 4" variety. My brother recommended Springfield XD and Glock...what would you recommend? |

I like my glock and cannot go wrong with one. Just all I have seen or tried are not comfortable to carry. But just like cigars, everyone likes different options. Before buying see if any of your local ranges have some that you could rent before spending all the money. |

I have now learned what I had been told previously, feel them up, it's a personal thing. They all feel different to you than to me. The XD is a great gun but thick and may not be what some like with the way the safety is set up. I thought I wanted one until I held it. Glocks are fantastic, as I own a 21 and can attest but almost bought a 26 for concealed but also felt bulky. Ended up with a Ruger LCP for true tiny concealed and a S&W Shield which is slim and incredibly low recoil and is truly my favorite. However, finding one is the challenge due to demand for it. Gun shows or a large dealer are the best place to go. Lastly, shoot it. Amazing how many you eliminate once you fire them. BTW, that XDs is an amazing little, slim powerhouse but you sacrifice by having low capacity in mag due to caliber. Probably my next gun as is only XD that is slim. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Quote:
I just sold my LCP for something a little more powerful I don't feel like I have sacrificed capacity. The Xds is 5+1 the LCP is 6+1, heck I will give up one round to carry the.45 vs .380 :2 I have my LCP holsters for sale over on the WT/S thread :r |

I now seldom use my LCP since getting the Shield. I do love that XDs quite a bit and see it in my immediate future, specially since now seeing Bud's selling it for $599. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Can anyone here tell me where I can find a bolt carrier group and 16" barrel for 5.56? Trying to finish a build and everyone is out of everything. I know a lot of local places might have parts though. Like around here I can still get high capacity magazines at normal prices. Please PM me if you know of anywhere that might have these in stock. I have spent 5 days searching the internet with no luck. Thanks!

Re: First Firearm Thread.
i have a glock model 32 which is chambered in .357 sig. i love it. same ballistics as a .40s&w just a flatter trajectory and it has the same knock down power of a .357 mag just in a semi-auto platform. it is a necked down .40 so the same amount of rounds. it is the sub-compact model and i carry it everyday with no problems. since im a big fan of the glock i will not weigh in on whats better but i will say go for what fits better in your hand. if you can find a gun range that has loaner guns that will let you try them out.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Justin I personally wouldn't touch that Taurus with a 10' pole - to many mim parts. Kind of too different animals a 5" 1911 (well sort of, haha) compared to the xds with a 3.3" barrel. What are you looking for a range .45 or a carry .45?
To answer your question I like it, I shoot a lot in 2011 fired over 10k rounds. i do find the recoil pretty stout. It is almost identical in size to my glock 26 & 27 just thinner in the grip which makes it easier to conceal. Its a nice change I used carry my glock 20, then went to the little ruger LCP now I feel like a man again :r Quote:

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I may or may not have back ordered 4 more stripped lowers during the late night hours. If I did, that makes 8 stripped lowers from 8 different manufacturers are on order.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
I am looking at getting a Remington 870, prolly 18 inch barrel in a month or so.. Doing the research still.
|
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Dennis I have no problem with the MIM parts. I used to own a Metro Arms AC2 that was basically the same deal, and it ran great. MIM parts when done right are fine.
I want a carry and range gun. I know I can carry a 5" 1911 with a good holster as I did that before with the AC2. Decisions decisions. |

pistol grip has it's purposes... but damned uncomfortable to shoot em :(
Went ahead and pulled the trigger on a couple of inexpensive stripped lowers. I have serious doubts they'll show up anytime in the next 18 months... but *shrug* |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Hey guys I am looking into getting a sub compact or whatever they are calling these days. I have shot a M&P 40c and am looking into the shield not sure if I want the 9 or the 40. Also looking at the Walther pps or the kahr pm. What do you guys think? Anyone you like better? Is there something else I should be looking into.
|
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I had a Kahr CM9 which I loved! I think Brian has the PM9.

Hey Justin I don't want to come across as a gun snob....:r
MIM parts matter to me, they are used for one reason and one reason only and that's to save a buck! I have seen many mim parts just snap / break . If I am surrounded by walkers the pistol I want on me hopefully will have no powdered metal parts :r:r Quote:
