Re: Patriots Fans
Kinda late in commenting on last week's win against the Jets-Jets-Jets, been too busy.
Overall a good effort against the Ryan AC. Happy to see more balance to the offense, but dissapointed that Ridley was not more effective- guess he needs some education as to where the holes are. Defense was better, but some of that has to be attributed to the ineffectivness of Sanchez & the Jets. Good thing they don't yet realize what a talent they have in Plaxico and how to use him. Kudos: B-J Green Ellis .... he's got to be the most underrrated back in the league. O-line, not perfect, but pretty good against a very good Jets D-line Tom Terrific - numbers not a gaudy as earlier games, but he handled the pressure very well. Concerns: Defensive line - these boys need to get some pressure on the QB Defensive backs- looking somewhat better in a cover two instead of man to man, but still lacking. Yes, they would benefit from more pressure up front, but they still need to cover. Up next, Dallas with Rex's brother and his version of the Ryan defense. He made Tom look very bad when he was coaching the Browns and you know that Rex will be giving him some help this week. On the plus side, we can probably count on Romo to implode at some point. |
Re: Patriots Fans
I expect a massive win by the Pats over Dallas.

Re: Patriots Fans
Wow they pulled it out on the last drive.
Four turnovers yeah they got lucky. |
Re: Patriots Fans
With Brady (and Romo), the game isn't over until it's over. But the ending's usually predictable. :)

Re: Patriots Fans
Game clock was on their side for once this season.

Re: Patriots Fans
Time for the Pats to bite the bullet and eat the big money and dump Ochostinko.
He had one ball thrown to him once and ran the wrong route, that was the last we seen of him yesterday. I say make a move for Brandon Lloyd with the bye week you would get him up to speed on a few plays,we need a receiver that can take the top off the defense. |
Re: Patriots Fans
Ocho could come into play later in the season. Teams won't cover him as they expect him to drop the ball or screw up... Then all of a sudden he catches the ball.
I hear you, I would trade him if they can, but who wants him at this point? Can he play Special Teams? |

Re: Patriots Fans
Whew, pulled out a close one against the Cowboys. Game was pretty much what I expected as Ryan's defense really made Brady work for this game. Nice to see the Pats win one of these close ones.
Some thoughts: Ochostinko ... I agree he's gotta go. Nice try Bill, but cut your losses and let's see if Taylor Price can play or not. D-Line -- getting better, still not there, but getting better. I keep wondering just how much of the ineffectiveness of this unit is tied to changing over to a new scheme with virtually no training camp and a bunch of new guys. D-Backs - this unit needs serious work. A good QB is gonna kill us. Mcourty needs to see a shrink to be convinced he actually has the talent to succeed in this league. He plays way to conservatively. O-Line ... They did pretty well overall, good run blocking (against a theoretically good run defense), and not bad pass blocking - I know Brady got hit a lot - but... QB ... Tom is an unbelievable talent but sometimes he thinks he can do more than he can do. Even Aikman commented on what little windows he was trying to squeeze passes into. He was mostly successful and doing so was absolutely needed on the last drive, but one of the interceptions was because of his slight misfire. The other thing is -he is holding the ball too long waiting for receivers to get open. This is probably more of a scheme thing as they were trying to go downfield on a lot of plays instead of the quick passes that they felt Dallas had prepared for, but some of the sacks can be squarely laid on Tom's shoulders. Receivers ... Both tight ends get an A, Branch did well, Welker did OK for being double teamed all day and Ochostinko didn't show up. Running Backs ... Gotta love Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis. Just gotta. Ridley and Woodhead looked OK when in there but Benny is the man. It will be interesting to see what happens after the bye week when Kevin Faulk can come back. Special Teams ... These units need some work. The kicker & punter both are doing very well but our coverage on punts is inadequate, (Welker's gonna get killed) and it gauls me to see so many teams run kickoffs out of the end zone to the 30-35 yard line, especially when we only seem to be able to get out to the 20 at best. Overall, nice way to finish before the bye week. On top of the AFC East and in control of their own destiny. Next up - The Steelers in two weeks. |

That's an easy one,Woodhead will be inactive? Listening to Brady on D+C this morning he said Faulk was the most clutch player he ever played with, and was looking to see number 33 on the practice field. We can forget about Lloyd he was just traded to the Rams. |
Re: Patriots Fans
I don't believe what I heard on the radio Ochostinko is going to give a lecture at Emerson Collage about using Twitter:confused
This is a guy that's making 6 million, has six catches, and only plays the last two minutes when the team is running out the clock.:td Chad has been with the team 10 weeks and don't know the play book yet? I give him two more games before he is cut :sl |
Re: Patriots Fans
Actually, I only give him one more, this week's Steelers game. I figure that he had an extra week to get familiar with the scheme they are going with against Pittsburg and if he doesn't show something it's Adios Ochostinko

Re: Patriots Fans
Bad day at the office for the flying Elvi this week down in Pittsburg.
Two biggest reasons the Pats got beat: 1.) The Steelers wanted it more. They played with more intensity and just plain out hit the Patriots. It was so evident that even Phil Simms recognized it. 2.) We finally ran up against an offense who schemed to take advantage of our glaring weakness in pass defense. I just hope that the rest of the league was not paying attention, (fat chance). Kudos to the Steelers, they kicked our butts and deserved the win. The game was no where near as close as the score indicated. I expect it will be a LONG week of practice getting ready for the Giants. Maybe Bill will even schedule some greatly needed tackeling practice. |
Re: Patriots Fans
As bad as the Pats played they still could have won?
I don't get the cutting of all the d-backs? but they all suck they lost the game . The d-line played well it was all the 3rd and long passes the killed them, that and keeping the offense off the field. |

The Pats are and will be one helluva team to recon with. I think what every Pats fan saw this past Sunday was years of frustration and the Steelers finally saying enough was enough. The Pats have dominated us for so long. I must say it does feel nice to see a victory like that but I know all too well it matters most and that means the playoffs. Both these teams are heading there and if there's one thing I definately know as a huge Steelers fan it is not wanting to see the Pats come playoff time. Brady and the Pats are a great team. Thanks for letting me check in on your thread and give my thoughts and props to your oranization for the success you have had over the years against my boys. Felt nice yesterday for us....finally. :D |
Re: Patriots Fans
Offense for the Pats did not show up at all. Pats defense just stayed above water, but wasn't enough. Steelers beat the Pats fair and square...
Steelers or Pats will go to Superbowl. |

It's time for Bill Belichick to be relieved of his duty as GM and grand poobah of the Pats.
The man cant draft, always trades down for (VALUE), brings in broken down circus dogs, pays them millions and cuts them. More then half of his coaching staff are all young men with NO NFL Experience more (Value) and are all yes men or their gone. |
Re: Patriots Fans
Suffice to say the offense stunk in the first half and the defense stunk on the final Giant's drive. We did not deserve to win and we did not. Best get our act together this week or it will be a long day vs the Jets.
Good news along those lines...Haynesworth was just released! Now if OchoStinko was just right behind him it would be a step in the right direction. |

Re: Patriots Fans
Nice win against the Jets. Probably the most complete game the Pats have played this year. Thought it was interesting that Collingsworth quoted Brady as saying he needed to get back to basics and not try to be too cute with his passing. After a slow start, it seemed to work out.
Some thoughts: Kudos to: the young guys on the Defensive line. They're coming along and, low and behold, the secondary doesn't look too bad when there is a real pass rush...speaking of which : Anthony Carter, still lots of milage left in the old tank. : Gronk and Hernandez both, Welker may have been covered but that just sprung these guys. : Defensive back Julian Eddleman - nice tackle on Thomlinson Ocho - well he bought himself another week - how dumb is this guy that he is just now figuring out the Pats offense? I mean, he's played football his entire life! Concerns: Offensive line, really need to play better. : Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis, just how much is he hurt? : secondary - they're young and thin, that's good in a model, not an NFL secondary--hope these guys are working hard every day to get better, they will again face a coach who game plans to the oposition's weakness instead of his own falsly perceived strengths and they will be in trouble when they do. (Thanks for that game plan Rex) Matt Casell and the Chiefs are up next. |

Re: Patriots Fans
Nice win against the hapless Chiefs last night. Offense took some time to get on track, but finally got it going late in second quarter. Score could have been even more lopsided had Bill decided o actually TRY for TD's late in the game as opposed to just giving his running backs some work. Defense looked pretty good, had a decent pass rush and they only allowed 3 points. I know it was the Chiefs - with a new QB, but they're payed to play too. I just hope the defense doesn't become too self satisfied, as they will need to be better when they get into the playoffs against some good teams.
All in all a fun game to watch, worth staying up late. Next up - a Philly cheesesteak. |
Re: Patriots Fans
Good win against the "dream team" Eagles. Defense was awful at the beginning but came around after being greatly aided by the general ineptness of the Eagles. Tom Terrific was just that. Once he got in gear the Eagles defense did not really have a chance. Nice to see him back to spreading the ball around, but I'm sure that was simply a function of how the Eagle's defense was positioned.
All in all these are the types of games we have come to expect of Brady and this offense. As for the defense, not a lot of talant there, but they do seem to be playing the Hooded One's schemes pretty well and the overall group has improved as the season has progressed. We probably won't really see what they are made of until playoff time. Up next ... the Colts; No, this year make that the Dolts. |
Re: Patriots Fans
Tom was very lucky to get out of the first quarter in one piece after the beating he was taking.:sl
|
Re: Patriots Fans
Well, a win is a win. Pats played well during second and third quarters. Took a while to get started in the first, (defense needed to get off the field) and then there was the fourth. Someone forgot to tell the Colts that the game was over...Oh, wait a minute it wasn't. I'm sure Bill will remind the team of that lapse in judgement today..(yes, a rare Monday practice has been scheduled by a less than joyful holiday elf named Bill).
No accolades to give out, all were forfeited in the fourth quarter, even Gronk's. Next up the Redskins. We'll need to play well ALL FOUR QUARTERS in this one. |
Re: Patriots Fans
Yes, we won down in Washington. No, it was not pretty.
Usually at this point I would moan and groan about the defense and how it is not going to be good enough in the playoffs...and I do beleive this. But, I'd like to offer a DIFFERENT look at how the defense has performed this year. This year's defense is probably Bill's best coaching effort in years while at the same time being his worst performance as a General Manager. Bill the coach has taken a bunch of castoffs, third and fourth stringers and offensive players and created a defense that is in the middle of the pack in terms of points allowed, (yes, worst in the league in yards allowed, but yards don't win games, points do). We would all like to have the defense we had during the Super Bowl years and Bill has certainly made many drafting errors but, no other team in football has been able to remain at or near the top of their division for so long a period of time as have the Patriots. I guess Bill the GM has been doing a little bit right (notice for example how we have not really noticed the multiple changes in the offensive line- you know the guys who protect "The Franchise"). Having said all that... I think it will take a lot of smoke and mirrors for this team to go deep into the playoffs. Good offenses are going to eat them up. Well, on to Denver to go up against the Mile High Miracle Maker. I expect I will need a big bottle of antacids for this one. Go Pats! |
Re: Patriots Fans
I'm going to have to agree with you, that Playoffs are going to be tough.
It was a great game, with a lot of action. EVERY time the 'skins got a good pass through, it was because their guy was WIDE open. It didn't seem like we were firing on all cylinders throughout the game, but just in sections. They'll have to be doing a lot better this next game, or we're going to feel the hurt... Also, I'm glad to se that Occho has come around. The first half of the season was scary... And Gronk... He reached up and plucked that throw out of the air, I swear! |
Re: Patriots Fans
I see a blowout in the making this week Denver should kill the Pats?
Tebow running the option, and passing in the zone behind the backers the safety's are so bad there is wide open space in front of them Not only the D can't stop the pass it has gotten so bad they can't stop the run. Ocho coming around your kidding,15 catches and he dropped to the ground when he caught a pass last week. I was watching film of him and he is a freakin dog pulling a Moss can't get off the line and starts jogging when the play is still going on,that's why he is not playing? BB would cut him in a heartbeat, but it would make him look so bad for signing him to big money. Playoffs...this team will be one and done. |
Re: Patriots Fans
I wouldn't say one and done, but I don't see them getting past two games sadly.
I work at Sports Authority and this 19 year old came in and bought a Ochocinco Jersey ($120!) and we talked about 'em a bit. He's completely positive that BB is "Saving him for the Playoffs. That he's purposely playing like **** so teams that are double teaming Welker or Gronk 'forget' about him." I'm not kidding lol. |

Re: Patriots Fans
Whew, what a game. Pats offense was as expected ... 41 points! Defense was another story. I could not believe how bad they were in the first quarter...and I thought we had already seen the worst they could be. BUT they made some adjustments, changed from 4-3 to 3-4, altered some blocking schemes and suddenly got more agressive (it helped that the offense continued to score). Bottom line, a win and we're the AFC East Champs.
During a week in which Green Bay lost, Indy won and the Jets looked just awful, for the Patriots to make the necessary adjustments during the game and come back from a miserable first quarter to beat the mile high messiah was a very positive development indeed. Just goes to show that they're still one of the very elite teams in league- even with the awful defense. BTW, Andre Carter will be missed - big time. Special kudos this week to Aaron Hernandez and Mark Anderson, both really stepped it up. Let's not forget Gisele's husband either - he's so good that we've come to expect this type of game from him. No doubt- we New England fans are spoiled. Next up is Miami on Christmas Eve. I hope the Pats don't overlook the reinvigorated Dolphins. That whole team is playing for their jobs now and could be very dangerous. In the meantime ... NE Fans - bask in the sunshine of another AFC East Championship. :tu |
