Glad to see you are riding that thing. :tu Hoping to be up in VA again sooner than later.

Had some buds in from VA over the holiday week/weekend. We did some riding but it was hotter than a muther out there. The temps here stayed in the lower 90's which made it a real turd when you were stuck at a light. Picked up some black header wrap at the Harley shop and wrapped my headers in the attempt to knock down some heat. Worked pretty good.

It might even be here today.
I fixed my trunk bag so it won't tear again, and tested it by hauling home a big bag of grass fertilizer. I'm going for a ride today, no matter what. :tu

So it looks like the machine shop is going to be done with my pegs for the Ducati this weekend, so yay for that. This week I thought I'd fire her up just to hear the lovely clatter that is my bike. No clatter but a whole lotta gas dumping out from under the tank. I'm stoked cuz I totally needed another project instead of riding. :r :r

Nice! I've got an '05 Ironhorse Slammer. Haven't rode it in 3 years due to Kidney Sheer. I miss it, but can't bring myself to sell it.

Ducati 996S, carbon fiber everything for 7k or a KTM Supermoto hooligan machine for $3.6k. Come on boys, it'll give you an excuse to come have a smoke in CA while you pick up your new bike. :D

I'm planning on bringing home me and Weeze's bikes this week. They're stored in the inlaw's shop. I checked them out this weekend, they're under a foot of dust. Good thing we covered them, but I'll still have lots of cleaning. (not that I mind.)

Bikes are sold, waiting for the sale of the truck to go through. Then what? 2012 Ducati Multistrada S Touring time.

I think this is the point in my life where I admit to myself I am no longer a spring chicken and that getting old sucks a wee bit.

Re: Motorcycle Thread..

Recent knee surgery (buff and clean, not replacement) left me uncomfortable putting my feet down and maybe slipping on some sand or gravel. A little knee torque with 850-lb of Goldwing could be real mess. So, after thinking I'd be riding that 2003 GL1800 until the End of Days... gasp - I sold it.

After three weeks without a bike I wasn't feeling right. A few test rides later I moved over (or up, or down, depending) to a 2007 R1200R BMW with a few trimmings. At nearly half the weight of the Honda I ended up with better MPG, lower miles on the odometer, ABS (wow - really), heated handgrips (another wow), heated jacket and gloves (double wow), hard bags and a rear carry-all, three windshields (sport, 20" and 24"), forward-mounted MotoLights and a Sargent saddle. It's fast, it's quiet, it handles great and, above 5000rpm it rips. Never had a BMW bike and what can I say? Hey - I'm a fan.

Great bike, Dan! Used to ride a buddy's BMW in Louisville, they are sweet.

Taking the bike to the gym today for the second day in a row....just happy to still be riding in Chicago in mid-November.

At 61 the cost of comfort gave way to age. I don't know how I made it this far without Gerbing on my six. Rode 70mph, freeway x 200 miles, last week with temps running 36* to 39* - Gerbing (Rocky boots and thermal bib overalls) made it a pleasant ride. Never had a 3-hour sub-45* ride that left me smiling unless I looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy.

And 30-years living in NC has made me a cold-wimp. :<

Congratulations on the new scooter, Dan!!! :tu
I haven't rode a BMW since I was a kid, all of 30 years ago. I was used to riding Hodaka's and Kawasaki's in the dirt, I remember being shocked at how a motorcycle could ride like that with so much power. I was in love with that thing, I used to shine it up for free just so I could be around it. :D
