I'd say I'd rather suck a pine cone, Dave, but it's the exact same thing. :pu :r

Got a care package today from a friend in Iowa. Drinking the Psuedo Sue right now. Even though it's listed as a pale ale, it's very much like Old Nations M43 NEIPA, with maybe less body. Very tropical aroma from the hops. :tu

Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout. Had this in a bar last summer, now one at home tonight. Definitely a "dessert" beer, tastes like a Hershey bar in every bottle...though it paired surprisingly nice with an Upmann.

The last full on chocolate stout I had was Sweet Baby Jesus. I didn't really care for it, but I'm willing to give others a try.

Dragons Milk Reserve Salted Caramel. :tu

Thought it was going to be too sweet after the first sip, but it toned down. Still very much a dessert beer but worth picking up if you can find.

Just keep in mind, I'd consider this only for a dessert type beverage, too sweeet to drink more than one. :2

How was the Grand Armory, Bob? I've had the Horny Goat PB stout, that tasted like liquefied salted shells....not really very good.

Really good Admiral. Very pronounced PB flavor. And not very sweet, so you can drink more than one.

Glad the coconut was muted. Not sure how one would really enjoy that.

on another note....I picked up a full case of KBS yesterday.
I sure hope my wife doesn't look too close at the credit card statement!

If only it wasn't an IPA. ;s :pu :r

I had 3 Mephistopheles (Avery Brewing) from Batch 5 (Dec 2009): 16.83% ABV.

I was hammered. :r

Unfortunately, Avery axed by favorite two of their brews (Mephistopheles and Czar) last year, so no more of those. I would like to try their Callipygian (an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with coffee, cocoa, cacao nibs and vanilla beans). It's over 17% as well.

I guess it will not go on my shopping list, Julian!

Had a couple Left Hand Milk Stouts with dinner out last night, the only other stout/porter choice was Young's Double Chocolate, so I opted for the lesser of two evils. :r

You know Tom I hated IPA's too, until I tried M43. It's not your typical west coast, piney IPA. It's a New England style IPA (NEIPA) and very much tropical in flavor. I still can't drink one right after the other but I'm finding I can drink more APA/IPA that use the newer varieties of hops.

I'm open minded, especially if I go to a place that will give you a sample or sell you a little 2 Oz. glass for $1 or something. I'd give a NEIPA a shot if I see one at one of the pubs I hit. :tu

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?

Cool. I can't remember if I'd already mentioned the NEIPA's. They're very hazy, from all the hops.

A lot of it is still sitting on the shelf here where I live. Let me know if you ever want to work out a trade.
