bayou morning with some coffee. I love how this starts my day

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Nightcap in my cob this morning on the drive to work. I suppose I should get some EMP so I can stay within the naming implications.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Enjoying a bowl of Mac Barens Golden Extra ready-rub in the meerschaum volcano, while the Mod is keeping a close eye on my posts:D;)

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Late evening pipers...
Thursday - "Mitchells Blend" in the meerschaum volcano. This is named after a member on PipeSmokersForum. He'd mentioned a blend of his which I thought was interesting that follows: 1/3 Old Joe Krantz, 1/3 Golden Extra, and 1/3 H&H Signature LJ Hearth Virginia. I substituted the H&H Sig and choose Anniversary Kake instead. I purchased 1oz OJK, 1oz Golden Extra, and 1oz Anni Kake from Pipes & Cigars. Mixed all ingredients until well blended, and stuffed and compressed into a wide mouth pint Mason jar. That was on 03/12/2015. I removed the lid on Thursday 04/23/2015 and this stuff rocks. Friday (today) - Russ O' new blend Spectre in the meerschaum volcano. Think I found another favorite to smoke on a regular basis. Last smoke this evening was Mac Barens HH Vintage Syrian in a big bowl meerschaum. Good stuff! Have a good rest of the evening everyone... |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
New cob and Lane BCA. Nice hour long smoke on the porch at 70* and low humidity. Its expected to make 90* today but hopefully low rain chance. Wet and 90 is a miserable condition for enjoying the outside.

MATCH Walnut in the big bowl meerschaum this morning and a cup of joe on the side :cf1:pi

Lane BCA in diplomat MM cob. Second pipe Sutliff Rum & Maple in smaller mm cob. I'm really enjoying the cobs just now!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
After a unseccesful night of driving uber thanks to the black hawks being in the playoffs I spent the evening on the deck. First was a big bowl of nightcap. And now a mix of vsnilla, 3 cherries, and Georgian cream.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Anniversary Kake with about a year of age on it.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I still have Anni Kake on my list, I'll have to get an order in methinks.
Enjoyed some Star of the East in the Billiard that was courtesy or Kevin (ksknnr). |

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I love Anni Kake myself. I have a new tine maybe 5 months old and another a bit older but it is almost gone. The older it gets the sweeter it gets. I had some 7 yrs old and it was heaven! Of course I smoked it up like a pig now its gone!

Re: Whats in your bowl?
MB Latakia Flake in a Savinelli 320 w/coffee
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Penzance from '09 in my Chacom Alpina custom.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Going outside to smoke a Cob General (MM) with some franken baccy. Its all I have thats dry. Lots in fridge drying but none toasty just yet. The Franken baccy of odds n ends and some Drew estates 7th ave blonde.
I have a tin of Mississippi River but dont care for it much. Also a tin of Scottish Mixture and am undecided on that also. The Peter St Lux Bulls Eye Flake is pretty strong for me. maybe it will mellow with some age. The H&H Anniversary kake is also decent to smoke. I need to buy a lot more to age so I always have some choices! |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I had two firsts yesterday. Pete's University Flake. Nice Va flake with a hint of berry topping though not enough to qualify as an Aro. I really enjoyed this as a change of pace flake.
The second was Samovar. I'm not sure my words can give this blend the justice it deserves. An absolutely amazing Balkan. That said, don't buy any, it's horrible. I'll just go ahead and stock up to save you from yourselves. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Note to self. Invest in Samovar. Stock may be moving up!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
it's ridiculously delicious.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I was afraid those reviews set my expectations too high as has happened in the past. TR can be a great tool but can just as quickly betray you.

But, if you hadn't twisted my arm so hard this morning, I would not have had to place an order this morning for 2 tins of Samovar and 8oz of John Patton's Storm Front:D;) |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
You're in for a treat Mark. I hope you like it. I think I'm going to grab some Wilderness and Legends next order as McC has some great blends that don't get the spotlight they deserve.
As for TR, you're absolutely right. I find I cross reference a lot and am now taking more notice of reviewers that seem to share my tastes. You have to laugh at the posts in there that seem to be reviewing a completely different tobacco ("sure you're in the right tab dude?"). So as not to derail this, I went with Samovar last night in a Savinelli full bent and cobbed some nightcap on the drive in to work this morning. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Abingdon in my Oguz Simsek Storm Trooper. Abingdon is always a nice treat.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Tomorrow morning is set for a Comoys pipe and a new blend for me. Trout Stream. I have heard good things about it and it smells great opened bag!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Ooh! I like Trout Stream a lot!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Sutliff Black Kathy in a big cob. Not quite as good as Trout Stream but decent!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Enjoyed a big bowl of John Patton' Storm Front in a new CAO meerschaum that I recently won over at *Bay. A really good tasting burley/cigar leaf blend:pi

Oh my Mark! That is beautiful!
How does it smoke? |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Very nice!:tu

Storm Front uses a couple of cubed burley blends and cigar leaf. So, when the burn got down to that half way mark in the bowl, it started to narrow, and for a while, it tasted like I was puffing on a good stogie for a time... |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Looks great :tu
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Penzance (thanks Neil), Abingdon, and Blue Mountain yesterday.
I've realized how much I love Balkans and Orientals. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Trout Stream and Stokkebye's Peaches & Cream. Both in big cobs.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Anniversary kake in the Sav Alligator. Always a good smoke!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
How's that Anni Kake working for you Bill?
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I like those alligator Sav's Bill. I'm considering picking one up.
Mark, how did Samovar treat you? Edit: forgot to add my smoke. I picked up a 2nd tin of 3 Oaks Syrian so I could open one up to try. I really enjoyed it, similar to Samovar but a bit sharper (right from the tin). I can't get enough of that musty earthy taste. |

Still a good stand by. It has moved away from a daily however now that I have found Trout Stream!:tu |

I have 2 Sav's that feel the same. Can't say I have any inclination to use those filters, I just sip slow on those two.
