On Saturday we watched No-No a documentary about Dock Ellis pitching a no hitter on L.S.D., very interesting

Sunday we watched a documentary on Quite Riot, pretty good :)

Southpaw - Meh, reminded me too much of the Rocky story lines.

San Andreas - cheesy, especially the ending line from The Rock. If you've seen the movie 2012, you can skip this one.

Electric Church: It's basically a concert film of Jimi Hendrix's performance at the 1970 Pop Festival in Ga.......the 1st half of the film is set up how this was documented, but never released and it looked like it was bigger than Woodstock the rest is Jimi's ENTIRE performance......I really enjoyed this....it's on Showtime right now.

It was about Frankie Banali and Kevin Dubrow's frienship and how Frankie was trying to resurrect Quiet Riot post Kevin Dubrow. If you have a chance check it out. We also watched the Jimi Hendrix documentary, that was an awesome performance :tu

In the last couple of days, the wife and I watched St. Vincent, Bill Murray at his finest :tu and Birdman (What the hell was that all about) :confused:

Peter, I think you'll like Hercules in about 6 months if you give it another chance.
The beginning is really offputting, because you're expecting Hercules in "Troy" style and you get a "band of hucksters".
I did just what you did. :lr
Revisited, I liked it. But it was busy around here. So then I watched it again and gave it proper attention. Then I found it was good. It's got some good "300"ish, comic-booky jokes. It's a guy's movie.
I hope you'll try it again once you get over getting screwed on the first go around.

Lisa and I watched self/less last night.

I only mention this so that I may save one of you guys the pain and the 2 bucks.
The movie has ZERO opportunity for redemption. Unless you can use the dvd for an ice scraper this winter, or something.

Here's the thing:
The story was really just a rehash of any standard, out-of-the box time travel movie.
But then they tickled it with a little bit of "fear of future technology because IT WILL GET US!!!" and a touch of "YAY!!! The humans are smarter and saved us all again, just like they do all the time cause we're freakin awesome!!!"
I bet the book is good. Seriously.

Then they had crappy budget, needed Ben Kingsley and Ryan Reynolds so they at least had a couple names to sell this dogsh1t they will be creating, then cast the rest of the movie with, well, nice people. But not actors.
Then they set upon neutering both actors, wasting a lot of people's time, and making a movie that is just truly awful.

I can take away one plus from this.
Lots of folks got put to work, and it put food on a lot of tables.

It was OK -- a good movie to watch on cable. If it had lived up to expectations, it would have been worth seeing on the big screen.
