Re: Whats in your bowl?
Can't wait to dive into that Stim package, look great Neil. I have a lot of jars going right now though and should finish up a few first.
This morning I had a half bowl of DE's Gatsby Luxury Flake. Very well behaved flake as far as burn goes. The goodness of this stuff atones for that cherry mess they sell. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Hobbit Weed in the MM Legend. Thanks for sending me a sample Matt (mhailey). Very cherry aroma, especially coming off the top of the bowl and drifting up your nose. Then again, a gentle snorkle produces the flavor too!

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Scottish Blend in the Boswell poker. Hot outside looking to be 88* with full sun today. is over 10* hotter than normal for this time of year. Cranking the AC!

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Chicken and Waffles in a Peterson System
Dried it a good 8 hours, but still a little gurgle. Mildly aromatic, nothing drastic. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Eagerly anticipating GLP's next release, Philly Cheese-steak with extra hots.
I kid I kid.... |
Re: Whats in your bowl?

Some more "Chicken and Waffles" in a 1940's Belvedere pot. This is an early Nutcracker restore. It's a solid feeling pipe that sits well in the hand, but is heavy to clench. I think it would be better suited to flake. (Just by the hefty look). Given it's vintage, perhaps some Squadron Leader. I mean it does look like something a Spitfire pilot might smoke! |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
'09 Penzance in my Chacom Alpina 28 custom. :tu

Re: Whats in your bowl?
GLP Cairo in the 320ks.
Neil, the Stim Pkg is great. Definitely more going on than the 10 Russians (still love 10r).I got a lot of spice flavor coming through a larger sized bowl. I'm going to keep playing around with which pipe fits it just right. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Seattle Pipe Club Mississippi River in a cob. At first I hated this one. It is growing on me slowly tho. Might need a bigger bowl.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Ten Russians in a Peterson Dublin bent apple sandblast.
Different fro Stimulus Package - a little more towards a maduro cigar taste, less Latakia. Nice. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Mixed a little 1792 with bullseye flake in the prince. Balances out nicely.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Germain plum cake in my new Sav full bent. Interesting mixture, I think a bit more dry time for the next bowl. Burn was nice but I feel like the flavor was muted.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Thanks Darren, I'll try today. I mean, burn-wise it was good for how moist it was but I think the steam masked some of that goodness.

As a matter of fact, I had some Plum Cake drying for about 11 hours in a sort of dry box and it's about perfect. Dry like cigarette tobacco. I just moved it to a small mason jar :tu |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Harvest on the Hudson in my "4th July Peterson" I acquired from Bam-bam.
Muted - I had a big bowl full, but not a great deal of taste to show for it. Nice aroma though. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
P Stokkeby luxury flake from RevSmoke in the poker from Neil last night.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
Marble Kake. Smoked three bowls of this while cleaning up the yard from winter's ravages. Loads well, burns well, tastes good, doesn't bite.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Sutliff Rum and Maple over top of Anniversary Kake in a Grabow big pipe. Sometimes I just love to mix.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Penzance in a little Dunhill bulldog. It needs to dry a bit - had trouble keeping it lit.
Tasty stuff to be sure! Still get that iodine feel though |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I put some tobac in a zip lock bag and put it in the fridge overnight. works well!
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?

I've taken to mixing 75% PS Bullseye Flake with 25% something else. Today the small portion was Frog's Cellar. Nice flavor and aroma without being too overpowering and I got that nice slow bullseye burn. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
maybe add some milk for the too hot burn! On second thought maybe not.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
briar fox. im liking it. nice mellow smoke.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Thomas' Blend (Gift from Rich at 4noggins) in my Luciano volcano.
Lots of smoke - great room note, not a great deal of flavor. Helping the break in of the pipe, throwing some wicked cake. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Cracked a tin of Blue Mountain a few days ago Courtesy of TheBeard. What a nice smoke.
Nice and smooth and loading/lighting was idiot-proof. Perfect right from the tin down to a nice ash. Definitely worth stocking another tin or two. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Franken baccy in a cob. A mix of old 7yr aged leaf and some new. Burns well and seems nice. Im drying most of my new stuff in the refer now.

Re: Whats in your bowl?
I enjoyed a pipe of trout and stream. Long time fan of the stuff but the last pipe i smoked wasn't good. Tonight redeemed itself. must of needed to dry. Im still figuring all this pipe stuff out.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Coming back to Virginias again. Gave it a try with a very tight flake when I first picked up the pipe and couldn't get it to burn well.
Back at it with McClelland No. 2010 Classic Virginia. And I'm really liking it so far. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
I've recently begun the fold & stuff method with flakes and find it works very well. Might be worth trying out Flynn.
I've been working on some 2 y/o Capstan Blue as well as the Blue Mountain. Both very tasty. Also, I just started a new job Monday and have a few tobacco shops nearby. I'll be stopping at one on the way home today since the wife and kids are out of town and will try to grab a tin of Nightcap. I've realized Dunhill has yet to disappoint me and I'm long overdue to try this famed mixture. |
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Some Hal O the Wynd lately breaking in a new Ian Barnes custom pipe I had made.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Dunhill Nightcap this evening. Really loving it.
|
Re: Whats in your bowl?
Just finished that bowl and, for the first time ever with a pipe I'm feeling a bit light headed. Didn't think it would happen from a pipe considering I have smoked some strong cigars and never really felt anything.
