Re: Cigar Bid

Just a newcomer question:

Are the boxes, the cigars are shipped in, marked as Cigarbid? Or are they standard USPS labels? It would be tons better if it wasn't advertised as to what's inside!

aaron72 02-01-2012 09:24 AM

Re: Cigar Bid

They are not labeled as CigarBid. It's a standard box with something like CI Warehouse or the like as the senders address.

Thanks much, Aaron. Also, does each item get charged a shipping price? Or is it just once price for all of your items?

I believe there is an option for shipping all your winnings at one time to save on shipping, but I am not the master of cbid, so I don't know....anyone? :sh

There's a first item shipping cost (the highest one) and nominal additional charges for each other item. "Shipping Savings Program." It does add up quick though. The company could save us time and money using USPS but I guess they must have a sweet deal with UPS.

You need to set up weekly shipping to get the combined shipping savings.

Re: Cigar Bid

I spent a lot of time on CBID back in '06 and '07--and still have a bunch of cigars around from those days.

One thing to keep in mind is that your tastes will change over time--so the smoke you love today may do nothing for you in a couple of years.

The other thing is that there really are diamonds in the rough with aging--the problem is that you will not know which of your purchases will fit that description when you buy them.

In short, it is a crap shoot. Enjoy it!

P.S. I am still married--praise be to the cigar gods.

Those bahia trins, I like those ones. Real good smoke for the $$. I tried the Bahia Blu, Didn't care for them as much as those right there.

I think I may pick up a few more for an everyday smoke.

Re: Cigar Bid

Those JDN are a great smoke! good haul man! I am in the process of weening myself off cbid....well maybe not completely off...just 20 a week or maybe....40 or maybe just....80......Yup I'm a addict too......:r

$176.00 Mickey.. Shipping and all!

Garry... That was the only one I have smoked so far and was quite impressed. Like you said for the money it's not a bad smoke even if you only smoked 1/4 of it and threw it away.

Jared... I am looking forward to the JDN.... I may have to torch one up tonight!

Re: Cigar Bid

So, I don't know why this is making me think so hard, hahaha. I ordered a lighter, a cutter, a hygro and a few cigars from the "devil-site". Now, the highest shipping price is 4.95. Is that what I'm going to pay, in total, for shipping? Or does each item jack up the shipping?

Well if you go into your account settings and select to have your shipping done weekly instead of each item seperatley it will save you a ton of money. Even if you don't plan on buying anything else. (Hard to do) Each item will have seperate shipping charge added to it if you don't select weekly shipping. Besides.. if you are like the rest of us you will have a revolving account on cbid and be buying things all the time and saving a ton of money compared to retail prices if you do your homework. They ship fill your order on Thursdays and Ship out every Friday whe you select this option fyi...

Happy Bidding! :noon

The items in the merchandise section add $1 each after the first, full price shipping item. If you bought single cigars they ship for $0.25 (a quarter) each with combined shipping. I think 5ers are $0.50. So, $4.95 for highest shipping item plus $2 for additional merchandise and $.25 per cigar. If you got 4 smokes for $1 shipping the total would be $7.95. Hope this helps.

I really wish that Cigarbid would use a moniker like "Walmart" or "Super America" on their charges. On a related note, I really need to keep my wife from seeing the credit card statement... It says CIGARS all over it.

That's a easy fix (next time), get visa gift cards insted. That way you will be spending money you actually have and not credit. And animosity too boot.
