Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Today's Treats..... Starting off with.....
Wenge & Black Palm 17" x 12" x 9" 260 Count Pictures didn't turn out very well... as I'm not a photographer.... but the grain on this one is outstanding!!! And, that Black Palm is somethin' else... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/WMWH90F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/WMWH90F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...0/WMWH90F3.jpg |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
I'm calling this one.... "Secret Agent Man" .... (there's a reason for that)....
Goncalo Alves & Walnut 18" x 13" x 10" I didn't measure for actual capacity.... but, using those dims, it would have been a 330 count humidor.... but, my client wanted a "secret compartment" on the bottom.... something to keep currency, passports, and anything else you can think of to put in there.... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/WMWH81F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/WMWH81F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/WMWH81F3.jpg Top simply lifts off..... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/WMWH81F4.jpg |

You should include prices, as I am too afraid to ask.
As I heard long ago, if you have to ask, you can't afford it. |

Take a look at these hand made humis and what work and love goes into this. Also look at you have a custome humi that you can help design. The $ amount does not look so high nor does the question come in. Also look at it as a great piece of furniture that is passed down the family. I can wait to see my finished product and post pictures. Always ask so you know what you need to do to get what you want. |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
I never liked the way dividers fit in humidors.... So, I never put one in mine... I had to do a humi with a couple of dividers today and thought to myself.... "self, there has got to be a better way"....
So... I was looking at the lattice crumb catcher and came up with a "Hey, this will work" moment..... Crumb catcher is removable.... the slots on the side are tacked on.... and the dividers are easily adjustable within every slot - 1/4" apart..... What do ya'all think? http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../Divider-1.jpg |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
wow thats a great idea. the divider in mine doesnt always stay in place.

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread

And one more for the day.....
I have 3 more just about ready..... we'll save them for next time... Goncalo Alves 14" x 10" x 7" 140 Count Adjustable dividers http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/WMWH98F1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/WMWH98F2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/WMWH98F3.jpg |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Those look amazing! I'm guessing that the slot design also helps with circulation opposed to a flat surface?
|
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
That walnut is simply amazing.

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread

I'm very interested in this idea. Are those lattice sections taking the place of a rail for a lower tray to sit on or are they in addition to the rail? I really like the idea of having an easy way to adjust the dividers and have them be solidly in place but I'm wondering how much storage space you lose. I'd guess that the crumb catcher lattice work is around .5 inches so it would be a total loss of around 1" of storage front to back in the bottom. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong... I suppose for the ease of use I'd be willing to give up a half-inch of storage or so. Could that lattice work be made so that it replaces the rail that the lower tray sits on and thus doesn't really take up any more storage space? Randy |
Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
Couple of different things going on today.... I have two humidors drying in the finishing phase.... and started milling some more... and worked on my "prototype" (which is coming along nicely).....
But.... had a couple other things on the back burner... Started this door for an Edgestar 28.... a BOTL had damage to his when he received it from wherever he bought it.... and I told him... "let's build a new door"... and the idea went from there... Still have to glue it up... but, the seal fits great and the glass is tight.... This one is cherry. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/EdgeDiir.jpg Had another idea... so I threw this together this morning out of Mahogany... Gonna get some brass handles & stuff... not sure what I'll do with it... but, the little lady sort of likes it... it may or may not become a humidor... but... it's a good idea for one... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...315_141420.jpg And then.... finished out this Vino Temp 28 that a BOTL drop shipped to me... I think this is going to be my preferred way to do these... as there are a lot of weird nuances involved with all the different wine coolers... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...llee/Vino1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...llee/Vino2.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...llee/Vino3.jpg |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
A while back I posted pics of a computer drawing of a prototype that I planned to build... it was inspired by the Monte Cristo 75th Anniversary humidor....
I've been dabbling with it for about 6 months now.... I even had to start over once because what I thought would work.... didn't.... I've been waiting for an order of wood to come in.... and made some pretty good progress.... Well.... she's all dry fit now and ready to assemble... I have all the spanish cedar cut and dimensioned for a quick fit.... The lid in the picture needs some attention, but - that will be the easy part.... I have two of these going at the moment.... One is going to Canada to a member here, the other is open at the moment. The third picture has a coffee pot for scale.... this thing is huge! 27" x 13" x 19"..... She should be coming off the bench soon... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...B/DSC01004.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...B/DSC01007.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...B/DSC01009.jpg Here's the computer drawings.... http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...ee/VMB/VMB.png http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n.../VMB/VMBII.png |

Plus...the drawer on the front can hold a cutter, lighter, bottle of scotch.... or whatever you might want.... And then, directly behind that is the humidification with an access door, just like the one on the front, for the humidification.... |

Re: Waxing Moon Humidor Thread
OK... I can breathe again.... a little something different. It's always a little harrowing putting sharp steel to wood.... especially when the tolerance is a hair under 1/16".... lol
Waiting for the lid to come back from the engraver in Atlanta.... sand her down a bit more mount the hardware... and she'll be done. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...ee/Handles.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/Handles2.jpg |
