I've been a fan since I was a boy in the 60's, but Jerry is making it tougher and tougher. A coach (who is a complete dumbass) who has no control over his own staff. Jerry let the best part of the coaching team and front office leave for Miami. And after a completely humiliating season he wants "continuity". How such a successful busineman can be such a complete moron is beyond me.

Hmmmm - you know, Romo now has 2 complete seasons under his belt. Comparing his first two seasons to Hall of Fame (2006) Troy Aikman's first two seasons: Aikman won exactly 8 games - Romo has 20+ wins not counting his half season of 2006. He also has 2 pro bowl selections.
As for records: 16 games with 300+ yards over Aikmans 13. 36 passing touchdowns over Danny Whites 29. First Dallas quarterback to throw over 4,000 years in a season. And tied with Aikman for 5 touchdown passes in one game. And this after 2 1/2 years on the job.

Personally I think Garret left a lot to be desired with his play calling this year. Added to the mix a front line that can't pass block nor open a lane for the running backs. And why even trade for Roy Williams if your not going to use him - waste of talent there.

Plenty of blame to go around for a team with this much talent.

As a fan since 1962 through the good and bad - well there is always next year - hopefully.

My assessment is purely subjective. I just don't see the skills that Aikman had.

I'm not saying Romo is the greatest thing since sliced bread now - but which Aikman are you comparing him too? The two years under his belt Aikman or the ten year veteran Aikman? Makes a difference. At the two year mark it's Romo hands down. Will it change at the 3, 4 or 5 year mark? Maybe. Maybe not. Just have to see.

Re: Cowboys Asylum

Romo moves better than Aikman but doesnt throw better right now. Give him a solid O-Line and time to throw and any QB can look like a star. I think we need to start with the coaching. Jones knows what he's doing or they wouldnt have 5 rings. He'll do the right thing im sure. I would love to start with getting rid of TO.

That would make him 3 for 3. It's amazing that the most talented WR (IMO) in the game can be such a negative to a TEAM.

I had the biggest smile on my face when I read that headline on ESPN. That's the first step in the right direction, hopefully we have many more this off season.

Yeah, they found out about another shooting....Guns, beating Hookers, beating up his body guards....Makes Plaxico look like an alter boy :r

Is TO Next?

Re: Cowboys Asylum

I know I'm in the minority here, but I hope TO stays on the team.. :lv

He's an unbelievable talent, and his outbursts and temper tantrums only happen when we're playing like garbage. The head coach sure as hell isn't going to yell at the team and light a fire under them so someone has to. All the crap this season about the WR meeting with Garrett was not made public by TO, it was leaked by someone else in the Cowboys locker room. You didn't here all of this BS last year when we were 13-3. :2

Rock Star 01-07-2009 10:56 PM

Re: Cowboys Asylum

well iu think TO is very talented but not good for the Cowboys..He is a major distraction and we would be better off without him..its not like we are lacking good receivers..we need to sink more money in our defense and offensive line imo, let some of the TO $$ go else where..

white_s2k 01-07-2009 11:01 PM

Re: Cowboys Asylum

I can't argue that we need help with the O-line and defense, but if we get rid of TO I hope it's for the right reasons.

No way!??! Romo was terribly banged up this year. Elway, both Mannings, and plenty other QBs have taken awhile to win the "big game." No Romo and we're screwed for years. Remember Quincy Carter!!

Wasn't Haley a position coach with Dallas a few years ago?

Well, Dan Reeves isn't coming to the Cowboys. Looks like Coach Jerry wanted it his way again and Reeves wouldn't fall in line.

I was bummed that it didn't happen. I read that Jerry wanted Reeves more involved with a larger time commitment but Reeves didn't want to spend that much time there. Don't know the real story but it's too bad nonetheless.

Re: Cowboys Asylum

:tu:tu For this offseason.

I love the moves the Cowboys are making this offseason. With no T.O. there are so many options on offense. It's weird that taking away a potent option now gives them more options but when you have to direct 30-40% of your looks towards one guy, or he'll have a temper tantrum, it really leaves you with a lot to work with. No T.0., Tank, Pacman, and Roy Williams (whom I'll miss b/c he was all we had for a few years). Some nice key additions who are role players and not selfish. Lookin forward to a great year:wo

I gotta give credit to Jerry Jones.. it seems like he finally got his head on straight this year and realized he needs to put the team before the $$$$ and the publicity. He let T.O. and Pacman go for all the right reasons, and I'm glad to see it. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming season, and want to see that Barber/Jones tandem tear it up this year.

I love the Boys and have since I was a little kid living at Carswell AFB. I am skeptical still though....but I am hoping for the best. I too and glad to see T.O. and Pacman off the team. I do not like going out on a limb to acquire a player who might be worth the b.s they create!

I wouldn't be surprised if we draft one or two receivers in the late rounds. We have 11 picks this year and will probably be looking for special teamers and backups. Unless Jerry plans on lumping some together and trading.

Oh crap, are you guys seeing the footage of the practice facility at Valley Ranch collapsing??

65mph winds, the entire structure came down DURING practice. 27 rookies, entire coaching staff and video crew was inside. Minor injuries to some of the video crew.. everyone else seems to be okay.

The footage is pretty amazing to watch, I'm sure it will be on ESPN for anyone outside of the DFW area!

Team seems a lot more "together" and focused than they have in recent years. Looking forward to an awesome running game this year and Roy Williams stepping it up and showing he's a superstar. Hoping Romo goes back to how he was 2 seasons ago.
