Re: What beers are you enjoying?
Finishing a bomber of Oaked Unearthly IPA right now. Not usually a HUGE fan of oaked brews, but I have to say the oak really compliments the hops in this one.
On a more serious note, found out that Surly had to pull out of the Chicago market due to them not being able to meet the demand in even their home market. Apparently it is an indefinite pull out, and the barkeep I talked to said that it would be at least three months before they resumed shipments, and probably will take until the end of the year. Dang it! I can still find most of their brews around, but furious is nowhere to be found, at least not where I can go without a car. |
Re: What beers are you enjoying?
Had a nice big bottle of Three Philosophers last night.

I can tell you what beer I'm NOT enjoying...
I just bought a sixer of Magic Hat's summer seasonal...the Wacko Summer. It's pink...and fruity. I hate fruity beers. Ugh. |

Re: What beers are you enjoying?
21st Amendment Monk's Blood. It's decent, but it's not half the beer that La Fin du Monde is, at the same price. If I'm going to spend $10 on a 4 pack in the future, it's going to be on LFdM.

Re: What beers are you enjoying?
Tonight I tried Southern Tier Mokah, I must say it is a great stout. It is a mix of their Jah-va and Choklat stouts and I loved it. At first all I could smell was chocolate then all I tasted was alcohol (its 11% abv). But after it warmed a little it became fantastic. I give it :tu:tu
Thanks to Richard for first turning me on to this brewery :) |
Re: What beers are you enjoying?

Re: What beers are you enjoying?
Had Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout and Founders Devil Dancer the other night. I will probably pair a regular Bourbon County Stout or a Stone Imperial Stout with a Partagas Black Maximo tonight.

Just had the same coffee stout a very good brother shared with us a my local as well. Very good, same Bourbon County goodness with some great coffee finish. How do you like the Stone Imperial Stout? and what would you compare it to? Does it have that same great texture as the Goose Island? |
Re: What beers are you enjoying?
Yes the GI BCCS is awesome. I'm going to age one for sure. The regular Bourbon County is very good, but aged it is awesome. It has been a long time since I've had the Stone, but it is awesome. I had a bourbon barrel version of it on tap once - amazing.

Re: What beers are you enjoying?
I've been drinking some good brews from Ska brewery in Durango lately, but decided to change things up with a Barley Wine from Estes Park Brewery. Sweet, malty & in your face... Very good stuff if you are into barley wine.
