Semyon Varlamov for a 1st and a 2nd.....hummmm......:sh That is not to say that I am not pleased to have him between the pipes for the Avs....just question the compensation to get him.... God knows that first may be VERY HIGH....
Hejda signing gives them a physical D man....hopefully he can further(start?) the Avs change the philosophy of "defense is optional, let's just outscore the other team" mentality..... |

LULs. If you cant beat them.........
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=568344 I really like White. I think the Wings aquired a great D man. I was hoping they would grab that POS Eirhoff. Canucks get a little less douche letting Torres go and Eirhoff bring in Sturm. I am starting to like the Sharks chances of coming out of the west. I think adding Handzus will soften the loss of Seto and Burns is a D upgrade. |
Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Handzus was a slug when he played for the Hawks. :tu
I agree on White, much better way to go for the Wings than Kaberle. :2 |

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Lol that team finished 13th in the west and was brutal. I can see not liking much about that team.
Handzus suffered a torn ACL in the 06-07 season as a Hawk 8 games into the season and missed the rest of the year. In the 8 games he played as a Hawk he had 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points in 8 games. Sounds like he was having an epic season before tearing up his knee. :r. He only played 8 games as a Hawk. With last years loss of Malholtra and Nichol now gone they needed a good reliable center who can kill penalties. Reminds me of manny. Assuming your joking. Hes 6'4" 220, a good penalty killer with a 52% face off win, and he stands in front of the net which the Sharks need. I saw him a lot when the Sharks played the Kings and I never thought he was a slug. I do think he is an under the radar player a lot. |

I like the trade Havlat got 22 goals 62 points on a team desperate for offense.
Heatley 26 goals 64 points on a team that scored mote then enough. Clears 1.3 million off the books perseason but adds a year of obligation. Havlat 20 million for 4 years, Heater 19 for 3. I said it after Handzus I like this team this year and am starting to think they may be deep enough to get out of the west. |

Goodbye Tomas Kaberle. The B's gave up a ton to get him and he SUXED Soft like a doughboy, puck moving d-man don't mean dumping the puck before you reach your own blue line.
Hello Joe Corvo he had his best season last year with Carolina and should be better with the Bruins if he has anything left in the tank? I like this signing |
Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
I would definitely take Corvo over Kaberle at this point in time. :tu

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Yeah I think you dont forget stuff like that so easy as a player. When you use someone as motivation thats saying a lot. I think there both professionals and as long as he plays well he has no concerns, but if not it could get ugly.
Are there any rumors in Wings land about a big trade? Im not a big Wings guy its well documented, but I was really expecting more of an effort to rebuild. I know this years free agent market was weak, but White who I am a big fan off was it and thaf was replacing Rafalski. I dont see any ground gained on the Nucks or SJ and still trying to decide if I like what the Hawks did. |

Intertesting insight on the West from Tim Sassone. Forgive the Blackhawk bias, he is a Chicago writer.

The lack of news on Stamkos is disturbing. I think the Lightning are dropping the ball, or puck, on this one. :td

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Blackhawks re-sign Stalberg. Whoopie.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Actually, it seems that the Lightning are going to match any offer sheet thrown his way. They haven't made any huge signings and have let a few players slip away. So, as of now, I am pretty confident that Stamkos will still be a Bolt next year and probably many years after that.

Reports are Stamkos agreed to a 5-year deal with the Lightning. More info to follow.

Kudos to Drapes. Class act all the way. He also personified the blue-collar attitude this city loves and embraces. He might not have been the most skilled NHL player but, he worked his tail off and never hesitated to sacrifice himself to benefit the team.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread
Draper always kind of reminded me of Terry the marionette on Pee Wee's Playhouse. ;)
Enjoy the retirement, Mr. Draper. |

My hockey world is caving in. WTF is going to happen to the Isles? I hope they move to Brooklyn or Queens but I get the sinking feling they will either be sent north to Quebec or disbanded in a few years. FML

No way the league will disolve a team. They may move them.

Yeah its always weird to see a team with a true history facing movement. Almost like if you won a few cups movement should be much harder.

The Stanley Cup is coming to my hometown on August 24th. I have to F'ing work. That would have been awesome b-day present to get my photo with the cup and goalie Tim Thomas. FML.

I do agree that being disbanded is highly unlikely but if they move to Hamilton or Quebec it might as well be the same as far as I am concerned. The Isles are a strong young team just a few years out of Stanley Cup potential. Kind of like the Nords were when they got moved, Hmmmm! Milbury is still a douce!!
