Re: Photography Thread
Nice to see everyone shooting vigorously.

Re: Photography Thread
Damn you guys are good. Great pics.
Ever think about a CA photo contest? Monthly, semi-annually, annually? |
Re: Photography Thread
We tried a small weekly one. Winner picked the next weeks theme. It died. Lol
|
Re: Photography Thread
What was the theme again, lol. Did we ever pick another theme? I do kind of find that regimentation takes the
fun out of things for me. |
Re: Photography Thread
:r Brad.
Well took a trip down to the pier this morning for a bit before the rain came. Pix coming shortly. |
Re: Photography Thread
Pulled a Justin today. I have a Nikon D70, but even when I snapped my cheapest lens on it, I still felt really bad about
my plan; to leave it in the car 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, extreme heat to bitter cold. And even though I have three other cameras I like more, I felt bad about, if nothing more, leaving a good battery to die under those conditions. So it was an easy decision when I saw a beat up, used D70 at Ado today for $99. I prefer to pay $75 for a beater, its more fair that way, but I get another charger, another battery and a beater body for $99....I can leave that one in the car without whining about it. And I may even sell the good D70 one day to my landlord. So after telling the story, that's not ALL that Justin-ey, but don't we REALLY all know that he is gonna buy another camera here in about a month or less? Don't we? I guess what I really pulled was a Brad. |
Re: Photography Thread
Yeh you pulled a Brad, Brad. :r
Nah. Next camera I buy will be a Canon 5D mkII, and even then I'll have to sell the 60D to help fund that. |
Re: Photography Thread
Here's 5 from my trip to the pier. Waves were shitty today.

Re: Photography Thread
I should have some more pics after this weekend. There's a huge parade in Dearborn on Monday, and the Civil War Remembrance activities at Greenfield Village all weekend long. That should make for some interesting material!

Re: Photography Thread
The new Flickr sucks a55.
I tried to read EXIF data on one of my own files and I can't even do that anymore. The page loads are egregiously slow, thumbnails won't load, it puts way too much emphasis on what my contacts are posting, as if it belonged right there in my face every time I visit the site. Nothing new comes without effort, but this new iteration of FLICKR SUX. |
Re: Photography Thread
I agree Brad.

Re: Photography Thread
The disease continues....I only wanted to have a camera for the car, in hot times and in cold.
I couldn't bear to think of my D70, with it's 1/500th of a sec flash sync speed getting wasted like that, so when they flashed a $99 one in front of me, I had to have it. Then I decided to find the cheapest lens I could get to throw in the trunk with it, and there was this $30 Tamron 28-200. SO now they are together forever in the trunk. And after my second D200 arrives next week, I PROMISE I WILL BE DONE with this GD Nikon Acquisition Syndrome http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps248618fd.jpg http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps04afc4a2.jpg |

Re: Photography Thread
Yeah, technically that's a waterfall. A man-made one. I wondered exactly how it was done until I saw it during a drought where the water was really low and not flowing over it. It's actually a dam, straight on one side but coming down in steps on the other to give it a natural look, using a lot of natural rock. it's part of a hydro-eletric generation system that Henry Ford had built at his mansion. In 1916. I mean in 1916 that was unheard of!

Re: Photography Thread
Well me and a buddy went out late last night to shoot the city at night. Should be posting those up today.
