This is my first gun purchase in over a year. It's not up to par with some of the goods being flashed around here, but it will be fun to shoot.

Colt AR-15/22.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...0MFer/Colt.jpg

I found these Plano Gunguard cases at Wal-Mart for $30 each, so I bought all five that they had. While I was buying the Colt the gun shop had the same case for $110 each. Seems like a found a hell of a deal.

Have fun with that .22, those things are a blast to shoot! ! !

My scope came in for my AR-22 faster than I thought, the expected delivery was supposed to be the 19th.

Picked up a Bushnell 1-4x24, seems like a pretty decent scope for the price, now I need to order scope rings.

OK guys this is going to be embarrassing to admit but I don't know squat about 1911 style guns. I've picked up somethings about other popular makes but for some reason I just never picked up on the 1911 . So go ahead and laugh :D.

I'll be going to shot this year and hope to pick up a deal on one say from baer or nighthawk; reason is everyone is telling me if I'm going to get one that I better do it right. We're a dealer for both bear and nighthawk so the price although high will hopefully be right, depending on what the big boss let's me get;). Is there anything that you guys can tell me about the platform to go down the right path.

I know that every company has lemons and I've seen both a nighthawk completely fail and a front sight fall off a les baer but never seen or heard the outcome of either events. But if you've had any experiences with either customer service departments I'd like to hear your experience. Or am I better of just getting a Kimber. Remember I'm I'm Cali and don't have all models available to me so I was looking at possibly the baer custom carry or a hawk grp.

I had a gun that Ed Brown himself built, back when he was building them. It sucked. I had to have a local gunsmith fix it.

That was back in the 80's. I hear his stuff is better now.

The brand is American Classic. The model is American Classic II. Same model as the FIrestorm DLX. Made by Metro Arms in the Philippines. Both sights are dove tailed. No rattle at all. The slide to frame fit is very tight. It shoots great. Here are two reviews.

Any 1911 fans here have a Delta Elite 10mm, new or original release? I'm curious to know how it shoots compared to say a G20 or 29.

You could most likely check on the glock forum. Lots of 1911 fans there and a 1911 sub-forum. I'm sure someone has owned both

I've owned a Delta Elite, and nowadays have a Glock model 20. I believe that the Glock soaks up recoil better in 10mm than the 1911 design, but neither has ever been unpleasant to shoot.

My main reason for having a 10mm handgun is for carry in places with predatory animals bigger than humans. Gotta say I feel better armed with the 15 +1 rounds a Model 20 carries. Also feel less anxious about bumping around the woods with a super tough tenifer finish instead of bluing or even shiny stainless.

Also, the Glock will likely handle a lot more rounds of hot ammo than a Delta would without issues but that's a moot point to me.

I'm about to "pull the trigger" :r on getting a new pistol for bear protection. (I've been carring my Glock 22 in 40 S&W.) I'm working as an assistant hunting guide in Southeast Alaska. I keep changing my mind between 45 and 10mm. Actually I was all set to buy the 10mm but then the guy I work with got the 45 and I thought it would be nice if the crap hit the fan, if we had the same ammo and mags. Thoughts?

You have more power with the 10mm. And I'm pretty sure the G20 can take a barrel conversion to 40S&W round. Also a 15 round mag, 1 in the chamber is a good thing too, and its a 10mm:D

.460 S&W mag. I have one and love it! I can do 7" groups at 100 yds open sites and it packs plenty of punch!

You have to consider that in a panic situation you may have trouble with follow up shots. These super magnums like the .500, .460 and .454 may jump right out of your hand if you are firing off a quick shot. Better to be pumping in more lower powered rounds on target.

OK, I realize it's not a pistol, but for stopping power and quick follow up shots...I'm just saying!

If I was guiding in Alaska I would carry a stubby 12 Gauge with slugs slung on my back, I am a pretty good shot with a pistol but when I am sharting down both legs I might not be very accurate :r
