Re: Motorcycle Thread..
Cold is no reason to stop riding :) I just put my air shocks back n replacing the lowered springs in the rear, the lowering was great but the wife liked the air ride better. New handlebars (already looking for some new ones) these are a bit to much like a drag bar with extra pull back. Pics in a book are decieving. New speakers YEA, crappy HD OEM are gone. I now have treble and bass.
I am looking for new winter gloves. Looks alone do not tell you how well they actually look. Would love to see some scientific reviews on motorcycle gloves. My old ones ride well, just not warm anough and the idea of heated ones seeems like a lot of hassle. Quote:

Re: Motorcycle Thread..
I have never had a lot of luck with gloves that are not made specifically for motorcycles. Usually they are not articulated enough for long rides. Plus, what works for a 20 min down hill run will not work for 1 - 5 hours in the cold on 2 wheels. The ones I have are "ok", the best I have found so far, but the search continues.

Tourmaster Winter Elite I may try a glove inner liner this year. A lot of people seem to have luck with them, but I hate bulk..... newenough.com is an excellant place to shop from and I have had superior experience with the Tourmaster products. They peform exactly as one would expect, made by mototrcycle people for those who ride. Winter is: Firrst Gear HT Overpants - I do not like the look of the latest version, but damn they perform. Warm and dry Tourmaster Jacket similiar to the Flex series (again the new stuff doesn't look as good). Schampa balacava (with long bib) toasty :) Fleece lined blue jeans in the 20's and below. I can usually ride in the 30's and into the 20's comfortably with some clothing layering. It's the gloves that kick my a$$ (long rides get the Walmart hunter chem heater inserts). We will see what these new ones will do. |

Re: Motorcycle Thread..
A trick we use around here for winter proof hands are latex exam gloves under our winter gloves. Really help hold in the heat without the bulkiness of liners. I use them when I'd golf in the 20's.

Have had some mornings here already where it's below 30 when I left for work (5 am), and while my hands got cool, they were never cold. I'm imagining that' probably colder than it gets by you in the dead of winter. Can't speak to the rain proof cause I haven't got caught in the rain with them yet, but if you can find a dealer with them near you I'd check them out. |

Re: Motorcycle Thread..
It was 42* when I rolled out this morning - not to bad. Still using the chaps, the warm clothes will have to be broke out shortly though.

I hate reading this thread. After my injury a few years ago I have not been able to get on a bike. I have been looking at trikes. Has anyone here given the Can Am spyder a spin?

It went from this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ke/73CB500.jpg To this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...Ustom500-1.jpg That is my '65 Corvette Coupe in the background. I built the bike on a modified Amen softail frame (first softail frame I know of) I molded and painted. Sorry for the pic but it was scanned off a Polariod from back in '74. I have been riding something since mini bikes in the oil fieilds. I now have a Honda '05 VTX1300 (80ci) and man is it nice to ride. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/100_1823.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/100_1827.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...e/100_1822.jpg |

Nice bikes up there Mike! I dig that vette also! :tu
Got my new pipes for christmas and it only took me 2 1/2 hours to put them on. Waiting for the right ECU to show up in the mail so I can take it for a ride. |
Re: Motorcycle Thread..
I rode a VTX 1300 for about 2 years. Moved to a Yamaha 1700 from that. The VTX is teh standard well built honda. Very dependable and made a couple of multi thousand mile trips on it. Should last you a long time.

Re: Motorcycle Thread..

Have the XR fairing waiting for paint and a set of Jumbo strong hard bags is next on the list. http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/w...o/DSC_1967.jpg |

I have a 07 Road Glide, with a set of 13" carlini ape hangers, love my ride. Everyone has their own personalities, to each his own. I ride with harley's, sportbikes and anything in between. Nothing is as great as the open road.

Was in the 60's down here over the weekend so I was able to get some riding in. Headed up to the shop on Saturday morning for a class and then they reset my TPS. Hope this weather stays nice! :banger
Anybody else get out this weekend? |
Re: Motorcycle Thread..
Looking at buying my first road bike. Just going to get a sportster, but I need help. Is it wise to buy a late 90's bike to save money over an early 2000's? Keep in mind I plan on changing most the forward controls and gauges immediately...have they really changed enough to justify the extra money?

Here's some updated photos I took today. Added pipes, rear fender, and clutch goodies. With spring on the way lets keep this thread going. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...icture3059.jpg http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...icture3055.jpg http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...icture3054.jpg |
Re: Motorcycle Thread..
Finally got around to rebuilding my Duc from my 2008 wad-a-thon at Sears Point late 2008. Thought it was all done save for the pegs I'm having made. Fired it up and it immediatly started gushing gas from the bottom of the tank. Apparently the quick release gas lines got nicked or got hard. No biggie, I'll just a couple news ones.
Ring ring, 'Hello Mr Ducati parts counter guy, I need new quick release gas line thingies." 'Sure, they are $60. Each.' "Click." :( Okay so I didn't really hang up but I did have a minor stroke. |
