I bought a 6-pack of Sierra Nevada the other day . 1 each of the Glissade , Bigfoot , Stout , Porter , Pale Ale and Torpedo . After seeing all the talk about the brewery I figured I'd give it a taste .

Picked up a six pack of this last night.

One of my new favorite beers! Thick, malty, smoke flavors are crazy in it. The finish gave me a flashback of my old friends basement with the wood burning furnace going. It's very unique beer that I can't compare it to anything I have ever had.

If you enjoy thick malty beer with a bourbon taste I would highly recommend this.

i wasn't as impressed with the 120 min as i thought i'd be. i'll stick to the 90 and 60 min.

anyone on the west coast want to do some trading? i'm really into IPA's and DIPAS and Stouts and there is a lot i can't get here being in FL.

Have yet to crack one.. What are your thoughts on it? Looks like a ideal beer to :set and forget: for a few years... Not sure if I have the best set up though, if anything I may leave one in my fridge for.. well... as Long as I am able too because when it gets summer time.. my house will be a little Warmer than 50-55* :r

It's a great beer. It's also seasonal and it's done for now until December. I got about 3 more places to check tomorrow. If not I got a four pack to last me for a bit.

Wow! did not know that, well damn I will have to snag another 4 pack if I get the chance, When is there going to be a Midwest Beer/herf? Alot of great beer geeks up here that would probably be a great addition to any pub or shack for a smoke and a few quality brews ;)

I highly doubt we will be able to find a pub to smoke in, if there is one good enough-Smoking aside I would be willing to drive a few hours to get too
Otherwise any given place :tu ( if another thread is started be sure to link)

Stopped at the beer store this morning. I was just planning to pick up a 12 pack of a nice sessionable beer since I've got lots (too much?) of high abv specialty brews. But I saw this and had to buy it. I think this may be the first "really hard to find" beer that I've purchased. Cost $19 with tax, so I blew my beer budget for the week and don't still have much in the way of sessionable brews. :ss

Re: beer hauls

Nemesis is a once per year brew done by Founders, this year being the first. Each year it will be a unique release. I understand that there were only 4 barrels made. It was due out in December, but they decided it needed more time in the barrels, so they delayed the release until February. I've got a cold, so I'm going to wait until I have my full sense of taste back before I open one.

Founders Description:

The 2009 release of Nemesis is best described as a Maple Bourbon barrel aged wheat wine holding 12.% abv and 70 ibu's. The barrels have been resting deep in the mines of Grand Rapids for nearly 9 months and have been most effective in developing a great product.

The Bourbon barrels we used in this creation were once used to age Maple syrup from northern Michigan, then emptied, and procured for our use in ageing this beer. The combination of American oak, Kentucky Bourbon, Michigan Maple syrup and our golden/tan wheat ale has provided a delicious malty sweet ale distinctive of strong vanilla and bourbon notes.

Here is a nice article and a very cool video down in the caves.

Great selection. I feel fortunate at the number of excellent micro-brews available here in Wi. Lake Louie is one of the best and almost no one out of Wi has access. I have been drinking the Ale Asylum hopalicious lately.
