The two I would add to the list would be:
Tim Buckley
and his son
Jeff Buckley

Thanks for the assist.

I have much disdain for Sting still, but I can admit he is a good singer. :)

I just assumed that Acarr (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showpo...7&postcount=71) was referring to a brother (cousin?). I dunno.

How can you have a list of great male vocalists and not include Tom "The Voice" Jones?

Or Sammy Davis Jr?

Or Big Joe Turner?

Or Captain Beefheart?

Or Tom Waits?

I'm not really much into gospel but colelctively, The Blind Boys of Alabama also belong (gotta go back a few years though, they had one or two members die in the last few years)

Also Cee-Lo Green when he's not rapping, is like Marvin Gaye, just an octave or so higher.

And of course William Hung.

I'm surprised they slipped they (nearly) through the cracks

The duet he did with Shakira was just indescribable.

I'd have to say that Burton Cummings of The Guess Who had the quintessential rock & roll voice and for country/folk it would have to be Gordon Lightfoot. :2
