Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Definitely feel its strength at first sip, once I acclimated to it it was delicious. Lots of cherry vanilla notes . Then I did a side by side to 4 Roses single barrel and got really drunk and couldn’t decide which I preferred more, both are excellent and will stay in regular rotation!

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Gabe, I can't tell you how many times those "side by sides" have been my downfall. :r
Two pours of Old Ezra last night, it's definitely become a favorite. https://i.imgur.com/DVvn55q.jpg |
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I let QT pick my bourbon last night. Had to open the one she chose, but she done good. Real good. Sip Awhile good. :D

Bourbon and cigars a fine night indeed

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I finished one Jack Daniel once when I was 18 years old. :D I did it because of a challenge, which my sisters. I was almost about to get caught to my Mum but I was lucky because there were so many guests at home on that day. Anyway as I know Jack Daniel is not a Bourbon. Isn’t it? It is a Tennessee Whiskey. However I must say that it was an unforgettable day. :r

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I've been looking for 8 months for a couple bottles of BT and Wal-Mart of all places came through for me.

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
If you have a problem when those are gone let me know, Kyle, we almost always seem to have it around here.

Saw these for $50 bought 2 blind as in I’ve never even tried their regular offering. I gotta say this is one of the best Bourbons I’ve had to date! Sooooo smooth tons of flavor and long finish! Does not feel like 123.2 proof |

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I also have two bottles of the Larceny A120, although one is half empty. Really good stuff
|
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I've heard the A120 is better than the B520, so good deal. I've still never tried any Larceny product, hopefully a bar or a party will lend the opportunity. Not gonna buy without a try. :r
On a like note, had a dram of Weller Full Proof that Huy sent me. Really didn't want to like it that much. But I really like it that much. :D |
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Reports are all over the place on WFP, had a friend who helped a store pick theirs and the three samples BT sent were all trash. They still picked one and that's probably how a lot of them go, but there are supposedly some gems out there. Regardless nothing would stop me from buying one if I had the chance for anything less than 2x MSRP
|
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
That stinks that they probably just picked the "least bad" of the 3 just because they wanted a store pick to be able to make a little more scratch. At their customers' expense as well.
I know the SP from Huy's place is money, so I got that goin' for me. Which is nice. :D |
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
WFP is a good pour. Couple bars by me have picks of them so I'm lucky. But I wouldn't pay the secondary price for one.

Not gonna lie this Larceny BP is phenomenal. Did a side by side with my EC BP and its toe to toe. Wish I could’ve afforded to buy all the bottles they had

So I reach out to our own 8lug (Mark) and ask if he's close. He picks 'em up for me, ships 'em the next morning, and Bluegrass was in my grasp. The guy who reached out was legit. I send him a real nice 3 pack of Coobans even though he didn't have to go or ship, just for reaching out and letting me know. |

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Yes I do need to move it... from the bottle to the glass then from the glass to my mouf, a couple ounces at a time :al
I don't actually have it yet, found somebody who said they had an extra to sell but it would be a couple weeks before he could ship. He said it's mine but I haven't paid yet or anything, price after shipping was still better than I've seen in some stores around here for a recent release so I figured it's worth a try |

I really wanted to like bookers more then i have to the point that i gave up and sold off what i had. Country Ham is my favorite of the more recent releases and would probably buy again. I have tried almost all from 2018-present. some of the much older ones i have tried have been great though. |

Still have the 15 and a couple 16s yet to open, but so far the pre 2018 standouts for me have been Off Your Rocker (16-05) and Front Porch Batch (17-03), which had the craziest neck pour I have ever experienced. I'm actually looking forward to open my backup when I have a bourbon friend over so they can verify. :r |
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Killed a Elijah Craig BP C919 last night. Don't fret, I have more. :D

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Waiting on your thoughts...
Took out all my EC bottles last night and realized I do not have a backup of C919 like I thought. I had a pour of C919 while commiserating |

Texted my thoughts, Ben. ;)

Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Anybody else participating in Bourbon Heritage Month this month? 30 days, 30 different bourbons, doesn't matter what they are so long as they're bourbon. Started off last night with Booker's Country Ham, shouldn't be a problem finding 30 open bottles :al:al
|
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
I won't hit the 30 different in 30 days but looking forward to having a few this month. Reminds me I need to stop by the local store ....

I may drink 30 different bourbons this month but it will be in less than 30 days. Already at 3 after last night: Elmer T. Lee Little Book Chapter 2 Eagle Rare |
Re: The Bourbon Thread!!
Sazerac Rye and Sam Houston bottles within reach right now. Prolly had enough of each for tonight.

QT drove me out about 45 miles from home to a liquor store that also has a small tasting bar. I bought pours of ORVW 10 Year, Smoke Wagon Desert Jewel and Little Book Ch. 4. The owner then kept feeding me half pours to taste, I remember Noah's Mill, 2 different Wilderness, Weller 12 and some other stuff. It's such a blur. Bought a bunch of liquor we didn't need as a thank you of sorts, only one bourbon though. Came home and a little hair of the dog before bed. https://i.imgur.com/hefZaBI.jpg |
