Look at it this way Hugh, you didn't go up. Gotta turn it into a positive somehow. Plus, are your clothes fitting better? Feel better? More energy? Anything you can use to keep the train rolling in the right direction helps.

Looks like I lost an inch off my waist. Realize it's an uneven road, but still a bit bummed. Hopefully I'll have a decent loss next week!

196 today. Still stuck, which makes sense because I've been almost 100% sedentary for the last week or two.

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

214.4 this morning. Only 1lb this week, but I'm cool with that. Per my scale, I lost some body fat as my percentage dropped. I can tell I've put on muscle, especially in the arms/chest.

Did a 3.16mi run this morning in 33:30. That's it for me for the week. Tomorrow is a rest day.

Saw the doc today, since a year ago, my total cholestorol went from 6.1 to 5.5 and my triglycerides went down from 1.5 to .75, and my blood pressure is great she said at 110/68 and my sugar is good too she said :) :) :) (whatever the fck those numbers mean i duno, but she said sh1t was good ) :D

Now if only i could get some god damn sleep so that i could lose some more weight (yes lack of sleep is what i believe is messing me up)

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

Awesome news Myles. That's always a motivator when the numbers at the doc look good.

Today marked day 30 of my foray into the Power 90 program. At least I think it was 30 days. I know I wasn't less. :D

Anyway, here's pics of my progress.

Day 1:

Day 30:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/pictur...pictureid=6109

I"m down ~12lbs, about 3% body fat. I need to pick up a tape measure so I can start recording any inches lost. I do now I"m down a belt notch since starting.

I joined the 255 club on Sunday morning! :noon
Food cravings are a thing of the past for me, which I'm surprised about.
Well, except for that whole ice cream thing a week or so back :r
I find that I'm still losing weight despite treating myself a bit on the weekends.
Two weeks ago it was some birthday cake, this past weekend it was a six pack of beer.
It's nice to know I can cheat a little without falling all the way down!

Broke 195 last week.. then the weekend came home from the lake at 200+. Been fighting it this week with 2 a day cardio. 195.9 this morning. Should be moving again towards 190 by the end of the week/next week. I get big swings (5-6 pounds) when I push it too far trying for a new number.

Kinda quiet in here lately. How's everyone doing? I took a few days off this week from working out. Did only some minor exercise yesterday practicing soccer with my neice. Did get back into the swing with a cardio workout today. Legs felt like lead, but powered through it. Was 212.8 this morning.

Nothing here Myles, but I guess like all lifestyles, there's going to be people that can/can't do it. I have no doubts that anyone can live a successful life doing low carb, it's just having the fortitude to stick with it. Problem is our society is too centered around carbs for our main source of food. Corn is cheap comparatively to meat and with the surplus we have, they have to keep finding ways to make things out of it. So the temptation is always there to eat carbs.

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

I was up to 202 last night when I got home from vacation. We'll just have to see what happens for the next week. I did eat more than normal while I was away, but that was by design. We tried a lot of new things, a lot of really nice restaurants and laid on the beach and blubbered around like a couple big, fat elephant seal hogs.
It was glorious. :D

It takes two to argue, bro. If he doesn't want to do Atkins, he sure doesn't need to, right? I know that's not the crux of the argument, but it still falls under "live and let live", "smoke what you like...".
As long as it works for you and you remain wholly healthy, I'd not waste the time to argue with him. Ask him how the wife and kids and his mama are doing, that's far more interesting. Plus you're going to do what you want with your life anyways, as it should be. :tu

Been on a peanut butter/oatmeal kick this week for breakfast. Mix in one serving of crunchy peanut butter to a cup of prepared oatmeal, along with some cinnamon, a packet of splenda and a pinch of salt. Mix it all up.

minus three lbs this past week. Back in the right direction. My goal to be under 300 for the SH is not going to happen, but I'll be within 5 lbs of that goal, so I can't complain too bitterly. 250 by early April for my annual is my next goal- doable methinks.

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

I'm already back to 196.2 this morning.
I put in a heck of a bunch of eating time on this vacation in order to push myself up to 202. It kinda gave me pause, and made me realize how often/how much time I had to have been spending in order to keep my weight up at 250.
I should start a new all-you-can-eat diet where you can eat all you can stuff in your hole for x minutes at a time for x minutes a day, then you decrease that number gradually for over a period of time till you're eating normally. :D

Wow, it's been a while since I checked in here and it shows. I've basically done nothing for the past three weeks and am up about 6 pounds. I start back to work in a week, so I need to get my butt in gear for it. Gonna get in a workout today for sure. I have let myself go for a bit and have let myself down, but vacation is almost over. Time to get motivated.

Well, except for that whole ice cream thing a week or so back :r

Way to go! My way of beating the dessert cravings is to freeze peeled banannas and chuck them in the blender with a little vanilla, some soymilk, some water, a tiny bit of cocoa powder + cinnamon and blend to a milkshake like consistency. Often I will chuck in some pineapple, misc fruit, or berries. I picked up some greek yogurt the other day, I think I will incorporate some this weekend.

I've been doing something similar for breakfast the last couple of days. 1 cup skim milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, creatine, 4 oz cottage cheese, two teaspoons ground flax seed, one banana, and a handful of ice cubes. Blend until smooth. Makes a filling shake with loads of protein, fiber and good fats. I did a scoop of peanut butter one day too.

Congrats Myles. Any number going down is a good thing.

I'm thinking the 5K run I signed up for in October shouldn't be too bad. Did 3.36 miles last night in 34:26. That's a 10:15 mi/min pace. I'm hoping to be under 10:00 come race time. My legs are sure telling me about it today though.

Just wanted to pop in here...My gym membership expired and I havent been in over 3 weeks...I know I know! However on a positive note my better eating habits have allowed me to maintain right around 206-207. My lowest was 204. I'll get back on the train soon enough...just been soo much crap lately and my gym wants the membership up front in full for the year. That's a lot of sticks! LOL

I've been a slacker the past couple of weeks. Pressures of the summer semester coming to an end along with my maternity final have resulted in my falling off the wagon just a little bit.

Anyway, I called my old LA Fitness today and I'm going to rejoin. I'll get my same rate of $25/month which is for any location. I'm going to hit the spinning classes 5 times/week along with a couple of boot camp conditioning classes. Based upon my prior experience in the spinning classes, I should be burning at least 5,000 calories/week.

Ok, I'm back on track now. I weighed in at 220.0 this morning, which I knew would be happen the way I binged the past 2-3 weeks. That's expected and should come back off relatively quickly I'm hoping.

I signed back up at LA Fitness this morning to begin my spinning classes and really looking forward to that 4-5 times/week. I also saw my new doctor this morning and he prescribed Adipex to assist with the appetite suppression. I explained that I have some really bad periods of binging and I'm hoping this will curb my appetite a lot. I took my first pill around 10:30 am and all I've had up to this point was my coffee this morning. Still not hungry at all. :tu

I was 201.0 this morning. That's not unusual, it should be back down to 193 in a couple days. I think all the vacations are done now. The kids go back to school Wednesday and things will be back to normal. I can get my eating back to "normal", too.
