Re: Photography Thread
Yep. If u shoot raw I would use auto wb. Easy to correct in post. Is 200 as low as the ISO goes?
|
Re: Photography Thread
With the D100, yes. I really would like 100 or even 64, but, it is what it is.
|
Re: Photography Thread
Yeh. My d90 I had was the same way. My canon 60d is 100 which is nice.

Re: Photography Thread
So you now have three lenses, Shark? 18-55, a tele zoom and a 35mm 1.8?
That's a nice grouping. A few days left on my Easter vacation, then its back to the grind in Memphis. I will be in the Western NC mountains tomorrow, so I will try to shoot something good. I took some photos in Charlotte yesterday, my nephew drug me and his new Olympus DSLR around town and showed me some nice scenes. The light was perfect downtown yesterday. As is the usual with the D70, I get 1/3 gold, 1/3 crap, and 1/3 crap that can be fixed in Photoshop. If I get it together tonight I will post a few of the shots I took yesterday. Some of them are REALLY nice. Pedestrian but nice for me so far. I am evolving with my skills on this camera. I was a master of the P&S camera, now I am a roundhead again, a plebe. |
Re: Photography Thread
OK, these are not so hot, but I like the way this thread is rolling along,
ehh, might as well do my bit. This one was just too cool not to shoot. http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...psc4b484da.jpg I really liked the way the sun was coming through the flags, and the buildings in Charlotte are very photogenic. http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps3285e678.jpg Of course sometimes things just LOOK like a picture http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps0395ce14.jpg |

Check crumpler bags. I have a 7 million dollar home of them and is pretty awesome for walking around. I use a backpack for when in the field though

Doesn't he know that skateboards are for sidewalks. You can't skate on a BENCH!
Call me ole' school, I like the flower best. Delicious use of DOF. |

So its FLOWER DAY IS IT??
[http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8103/8...7e8ae32482.jpg One Good Day by MemphisBrad, on Flickr] Shark, are all these shots with your new camera, or are you still trying to kick the habit? Those Panasonics are a drug....they take great pics and make you leave your D100 at home. ;) |

Yay flower day!!

I think I can come up with a few more FLOWERS.......
We ought to come up with an assignment for next week..... Let's say 'Funny Signs'. Has to be posted by the morning of Wed next week. Has to be new. My lizard shot is almost a year old. Everyone who reads all this regularly should give it a shot. |
Re: Photography Thread
Ok but can we change it to Thursday by noon eastern time?

My Western Fence Lizards are in hiding, but another variety of cymbidium is about ready to open up:D

Re: Photography Thread
Great photo op coming up this weekend. Not so great for the person whose funeral I am attending,
but it is early enough on Saturday that I can drive over from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to shoot a good bit. Out of the past 9 weekends, I have been in NO once for Mardi Gras, and counting this weekend, THREE funerals, and once in Charlotte for Easter and again in Nashville to herf with Bill86. 7 out of the last 9 weekends I have been on the road, and I am sick of it. You would think being out of town would be just as effective as being at HOME, the goal is NOT to be at work. But not having those days to loaf around really wears on a person after a few months. But again, since I am not the one going 6 feet under, I guess its all good. I will be all alone in NO, with no one to tell me we need to hurry along, or we have to be here by this time or that. I will be able to shoot as long as I want wherever I want. I should come up with some dynamite shots. I can't think of a more photogenic city than New Orleans |

Re: Photography Thread
Samyang.................great name. I think I will prefer my Sigma 10-20. Same basic effect without the
distortion........well...not as MUCH distortion, lol. Although there are times when ONLY a fisheye will do. I will say ONE thing, though. Out of all the lenses I have ever owned, shooting ultra-wide is more fun than any other kind of shooting I do, except for nude glamour with ANY lens. There was a time when I would walk up to a woman in a bar and hand her my card and offer to shoot her nude. You'd be surprised how often I was able to complete the sale. |
Re: Photography Thread
By the way, you own HOW MANY CAMERAS, and that's the best you could shoot that box, lol, :r
|
Re: Photography Thread
The fisheye will do great for shooting skateboarders up close on ramps. Lol my iPhone case has a lot of scratches over the lens protector.
|
Re: Photography Thread
BTW. The Samyang/Bower/Rokinon/Pro-optic Fisheyes and 14mms are actually really good lenses if you don't mind having to MF and use the aperature ring on the lens. MF on this is a joke though. Being a 8mm fisheye the DOF if so large that you really don't have to MF unless it's something really close. The lens body is all metal too.
