I stopped at the local beer store for some brews for our christmas party and they had the Holiday ale on draft and I unfortunaltly was without my growler.

Olde Johnnie Abbey Amber Ale by Cold Spring Brewing Co. Better than I thought it would be :tu

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?

Cold Spring IPA. Very drinkable but it tastes like the malt and hops are fighting and the malt is winning. Not what I was looking for in an IPA but at the price point it's hard to complain.

Seemed to be one of those beers that start out really intriguing for the first 6 oz, then drag on and on and on for the next 16.

Tried Oude Geuze Boon for the first time the other night. Certainly unique and worth tasting - but if there were ever a beer that it made sense to put in mini bottles, this is it. I could see drinking a small amount of it again, but only a small amount at once.

How did you like it? I love hoppy IIPA's, and I love most of Deschutes' beers, but I was not too terribly impressed with Hop Henge. Maybe I didn't get a fresh bottle, and I'd like to give it another shot but haven't yet.

It was good but not great. Not hoppy enough if you ask me!

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?

Had the most wonderful stout yesterday from St. Amroise - Oatmeal Stout. What makes this beer so friggin awesome is the mouthfeel. Really luxurious with incredible carbonation; like drinking rich silk with a mousse like a fine Champagne. Really first rate beer from a great Montreal brewery. A must try if you like stout; one of the best N. American stouts I have ever had...

Not an over-the-top beer where one is enough. This is real drinking beer!

Fisherman's Pumpkin Stout - This was suprisingly good. Not a lot of pumpkin flavor, which is fine by me.

Pre-kickoff yesterday

This beer scored a perfect 100 in BA Magazine, and took bronze at the World Beer Cup. Hard to find, even though it's only brewed 5 miles from me, but definitely worth it. (Much better than the game :bh)
