Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I was a member of floridaconcealedcarry.com when I bought my 1911 and was in need of a holster. Everyday on that forum there were folks singing praises about a holster from pantherconcealment.com. They are located in Jacksonville, Fl. They don't have a storefront and they work out of their home. They sell on the internet and a few stores in Jacksonville. I kept looking at different holsters and kept seeing the daily praises on the forum. They were giving a 10% discount to forums members as both of them are members there. I emailed them and asked a few questions. I ordered an IWB from them and I carry that 1911 full size 1911 daily with perfect comfort. Anyone that is needing a great holster at a great price and unbeatable customer service wouldn't go wrong by buying from them. I have nothing to do with their company, just wanted to put it out there for those who might need a very good holster.

My friend Mark showed me this place that does custom cerakote. http://blowndeadline.net
Guy does some unbelievable work. Not cheap, but pretty cool if you have the cash. |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Well I thank you all for your help and advice. I just ordered the M&P Shield in .40S&W a few minutes ago. I ordered the pistol with two extra 6 round mags to go with it. I had almost decided on the 9mm but a friend at work told me he can get ammo for a .40 (he is buying one soon) for free through a mutual friend, so I figured why not as I was leaning back toward the .40 anyway. Will let yall know what I think once I get it and fire it.:tu

I picked up a Desantis Superfly for the Shield when it gets here. Anyone have any experience with it? I had a cheap Don Hume leather pocket holster for the Beretta Tomcat. But the superfly seems to be a lot better. Here is a link for the superfly on youtube: https://youtu.be/bX808F5KyUI I intend to carry the shield in a cargo pocket mostly. |

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
First thoughts on the M&P Shield. I got it outta the box and this thing feels good in the hand, I already had pawed one in a local store but only for a minute. It does seem pretty stiff on the slide but I am sure after some rounds that will loosen up some. Although it comes with a 6 round flush fit and a 7 round extended magazine, I made the choice to go ahead and get two extra 6 round flush fit because I intend to carry this as a BUG or in a pocket and the smaller the better, and I also like to carry two spare mags. Almost all of my fingers are sore from loading up the mags because DANG those springs are stiff. I also had already bought a Desantis Superfly pocket holster for it and I like that holster. It is very sticky on the sides and it also has a velcro piece that covers the whole pistol in a pocket. You can also remove the piece for a front pocket type carry. I have carried a Beretta Tomcat .32 in a Don Hume leather pocket holster for a while in the cargo pocket of BDU type pants and even though the Shield is bigger than the Tomcat it doesn't seem to be as heavy in the pocket. The superfly holster holds the gun upright in the pocket very well. It will probably be a few days before I get to shoot it but i think I love it already.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Last weekend I picked up an M&P 9mm full size with the VTAC sights. That model also seems to include an upgraded trigger/sear package. Will never warm up to the flat dark earth finish but the sights and better internals are quite nice.
Got it low miles used from a new friend at a very good price. It shoots lights out dead on. The enhanced trigger pull accounts for a lot of that. |

I picked up the shield last Tuesday and haven't really had a chance to shoot it til now. I just had time to shoot a couple mags, but I gotta say that the recoil on the .40 Shield wasn't as much as I expected after reading about it in various places. It is well manageable, will take a little getting used to since I am using the 6 round mags since concealability as a BUG is what I got it for. I am used to shooting my S&W E Series 1911 45 for the last several years and haven't had a short gripped gun in a while. I don't think it will be a problem though as the gun feels like it was made for my hand even with the flush fit mags. |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Anyone have any new stuff in the hopper or in their sites?
Looking at getting one of the limited run Colt nineteen-03 general officer models 32acp they redid and a regular old m1911a1 made by the same company. |
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Love to hear your thoughts on the nineteen 03 if you do go that route. I'm researching now getting the nineteen 11 defender model in .45 caliber. Have always wanted one as the full size 1911 I have isn't a good CC option. I love it, but don't want to carry it. Been packing away a few bucks here and there to get it and I'm real close.

Defenders are nice. Those little mustangs are nice also. Laughing at the stashing away because I do the same. ;) We call it she money, money she don't know about. :r Picked up two double barrels yesterday off a guy. Didn't need them but the price was right so I made the purchase. One is a Crescent and the other is a Springfield Stevens I think. Both are pre 1930's and all of the metal is in good shape. The stocks on the other hand….one has a crack and the other may just be loose. |

Need some info. from you gun guys, any idea the value (ballpark) of a complete AR10 .308 Maten upper? Barrel, muzzle brake, rails, complete bolt carrier group and charging handle. Again, ballpark figure.

Just purchased a Colt Defender, 1911 3 inch, semi-automatic. Don't have it in my hands yet, but it's on it's way. I settled for the .45 caliber. I have the Colt Special Combat, full size, but always wanted this gun for some reason. Easier carry option from what I read, so looking forward to receiving it.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
Been building up the gun fund by selling off magazines and other accessories from firearms long gone and not missed. Spent some of it on a S&W Shield 9mm this weekend.
It's as tall and almost as long as my M&P 9c, just a bunch skinnier and lighter when loaded. The trigger on this Shield has a slight rough spot, but some use will take care of that. Seems to have less over travel than my other M&Ps. I put a Pierce base plate extender on the 7 round mag so that my pinky has something to grab, that helped in draws, handling, and shooting. It hits just a tad high past 10 yards or so, not really a problem. I see why my friends like theirs. |

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I have been thinking about a pocket gun for some time, but the choices are overwhelming. Every time I think I have settled on one, I stumble across something else. I can't really decide between .380 and 9mm (like the firepower of the 9mm, but I think the .380 would handle better). I was kinda fixed on a Ruger until I went shooting on Saturday and one of the guys had a Kahr CT380. Nice pistol with a great trigger.
|
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I have a .380 bodyguard for a pocket gun, 9mm shield and a .45 compact for IWB carry and a full size 9mm.
|
Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I love the Shield 40 I bought as well. Haven't fired it a lot yet. I have a Desantis Superfly holster and a cheap ARC appendix holster for it. I have taken to carrying it appendix as a backup to the 1911. Nothing better than carrying a gun, except carrying two guns. LOL

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
I have, and love, a Kahr CM9. Took several people shooting with it and they like it a lot and got the same thing. It is my pocket carry and because of that it's the one I carry the most. I also have the M&P 9c and that's not carried much just because I like the pocket style. I think both are great guns. Suggest going to Youtube and looking up Hickock45 who does gun reviews/demonstrations. He has one on the CM9. I personally would never buy the PM9, it's higher end brother, just because the differences are not worth the extra in my opinion. A CM9 can be had for $350. Good luck.

Re: Second Firearm Thread...
It's no surprise to me that there is such a divergence of opinion when it comes to "pocket carry" sized guns. Wasn't that long ago, the choices were .380/.38 special or smaller, caliber wise.
As long as I've been around firearms, I'm still willing to try new things when they come along, the learning never stops, and permanently settling on something is short-sighted, no wordplay intended. For ME, even these little guns need a decent set of sights, but I'll leave my reasons out of this so as not to be a windbag. Point being, that takes certain offerings off the table for my use. I would ask that those of you haven't experimented with carrying a fuller size gun at least keep an open mind, and try a few of them out too. Holsters and belts are better suited to this than not that many years back, it's way more do-able now. |
