Yankees beat the Astros today with a 5 run bottom of the 9th that ended in a walk off walk. :tu AJ started for the Yanks and actually looked good with his new motion. of course he looked good last year until the 5th inning arrived. :r

Yankees and Rays played to a 1-1 tie today. Yankees only sent 4 starting position players on the trip. Garcia & Nova both pitched well.

I agree. Watching the Yankees take the division even after Boston spent all that money will be a beautiful thing :tu

It looks like Colon is impressing some people this spring
Reports indicate that he may actually be in the race for a rotation spot!

MedicCook 03-07-2011 10:59 AM

Re: New York Yankees 2011

I like Garcia over Colon. I think Colon is going to break down over the season.

MedicCook 03-07-2011 11:02 AM

Re: New York Yankees 2011

It will be Oswalt vs Burnett today.

jonumberone 03-07-2011 11:02 AM

Re: New York Yankees 2011

Actually From the report, the Yanks feel the same way!
They are considering going with Colon and starting Nova in the minors.
When Colon wears out they would cut him and recall Nova.

MedicCook 03-07-2011 11:04 AM

Re: New York Yankees 2011

As long as Nova is starting that is good. I don't want to see him pushed into a non-active bullpen role. He is going to be a nice middle rotation pitcher in a year or two. Add him to the 2 young guys in the minors and the Yankees future looks nice.

Yankees looked good today. AJ went 3 perfect innings.

jonumberone 03-07-2011 02:17 PM

Re: New York Yankees 2011

Just not ready to get worked up about AJ's performance!
He might have been the Yanks best pitcher through may, last year.
If he's above 500 by the break I might start to believe.

Re: New York Yankees 2011

He needs to stick with his new delivery. Last year he was 3/4 or lower with his arm, now he is more over the top. It was nice to see his pitches stay in the area of the plate instead of breaking to the back of the batter box.

Did you watch the game Dom?

jonumberone 03-07-2011 03:27 PM

Couldn't watch No Yes network at work
Something we are trying to remedy

That needs to be fixed.

They interview Granderson after he finished playing and he will make a great announcer after he retires.

We gave Calon a shot two three seasons ago, he had absolutely nothing.
Watch how fat he gets once he starts getting big league meal money :r

Yankees are playing the Braves today. Yanks are up 3-0 and Freddy Garcia is looking good. :tu I think they will be having Betances and Brackman pitching next.

This 3B/1B Jorge Vasquez has a big bat. He has no speed though. With A-Rod & Teix at the corners this kid has no place to play except DH next season.

He can hit, like Dom said trade bait. It's nice to see so much good young talent for a change, I don't think the Yankees are in all that bad of shape. Plenty of youngsters around to give chances to, plenty of prospects to trade if they need something come trading deadline. I'm curious to see who gets the backup catching job since Cervelli is hurt, and Martin is about as durable as glass these days.

MedicCook 03-09-2011 06:54 PM

Re: New York Yankees 2011

I think it is going to be Martin and Montero at catcher. If Montero isn't playing up to par then they can send him back to Triple-A to play everyday when Cervelli comes back. When Martin gets hurt and he will get hurt then they can rotate Montero & Cervelli.

Yogi fell again today while in the Yankees clubhouse. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital. They are saying he is ok. The Yankees need to get him a scooter.

Yeah, he didnt bang his head so he`s ok. Sweeny tweeted it
when i was listening to 660.
But damn 7 to 0. At least CC went 5 shutout innings, but Doc went 6.
Then the prospects gave it up. Pryor didnt look too great.

Re: New York Yankees 2011

Yankees started making roster cuts today.

*Rule 5 pickup Daniel Turpen was returned to the Red Sox.
*Left-hander Robert Fish was claimed off waivers by the Royals.
*Right-hander Hector Noesi was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
*Right-handers Adam Warren, David Phelps, Brian Anderson and Buddy Carlyle, left-hander Andy Sisco, infielder Bradley Suttle and outfielders Austin Krum and Daniel Brewer were sent to minor league camp.

The Yanks' spring roster is down to 53 players, including 24 pitchers, in the wake of Sunday's moves.

is the best young pitcher he`s seen in 20 yrs. :D

Yankees & Orioles are on YES right now. Yankees are up 1-0 after the 1st inning.

Re: New York Yankees 2011

Yankees beat the Orioles 10-0 tonight giving up 1 hit. Nova got the start and went 6 no-hit innings with his only blip a HBP. He is making it hard for Joe to not choose him to start the season in the starting rotation. Mo tossed his 2nd inning of the spring and A-Rod hit a HR tonight.
