Wasn't even close, I scored it 11-1 Floyd. Whoever convinced Canelo that he should "box" and not try to brawl early gave him some rotten advice.

CJ Ross needs to be fired. I hate Floyd but damn the man can box.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

I was really surprised Canelo didn't come out just going after Mayweather. He was way to timid and by trying to out box Mayweather was a terrible call. You are right, Pops.

CJ Ross is an idiot. I don't know what fight he was watching to give Canelo 6 rounds. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

No joke. Hated that the main event didn't start until almost midnight. I was fighting sleep by then and didn't get to fully enjoy it.

Agreed. It'd make my year if Pacquiao had Orlando Bloom as part of his ring entourage and he stomped a mudhole in Bieber's ass for the whole world to see.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

“MAYWEATHER VS. PACQUIAO DEAL DONE ... Fight Set” read the headline, setting in motion a social media meltdown of the highest order.

There’s one problem: The story was incorrect.

Mayweather shot down the story Saturday, posting a message to his social media (with a photo of himself in a hammock): “Laying back, relaxing, enjoying good weather, palm trees and pina coladas. While they continue to lie about making the fight… I’m just going to continue to travel and explore the world on my private jet. #FightNotMadeYet”

ESPN senior boxing writer Dan Rafael discusses Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s and Manny Pacquiao's private meeting.

Showtime Sports general manager Stephen Espinoza, who is involved in the negotiations, wrote on Twitter after the story was posted, “TMZ usually has good sources. This time, not so much.”

Sources from both sides directly involved in the fight also told ESPN.com that the fight is most definitely not set at this point.

“Not true,” one of the sources said.

Another said of the story, “Absolutely untrue. We still have significant unresolved issues. Nothing is happening before mid next week at the soonest. Not that close on deal terms.”

While many are hopeful the fight will finalized -- May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is the date and venue if a deal is completed -- there are still a number of issues, mainly on the broadcasting side.

Showtime, which has Mayweather under contract, and HBO, which has a deal with Pacquiao, are trying to work through the details of what would be a joint pay-per-view telecast for what would undoubtedly be the richest fight in boxing history.

The kid says he's gonna order the fight here and split the cost up amongst his buds.
Me and Weeze will throw some money at it, she digs boxing, too.

I think Pacquiao can get under Mayweather. And I don't think the mouth will take him seriously. And I think Mayweather is scared of him.
I'd just like to see a good fight, really. :tu

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

Mayweather wins. What will be interesting to watch is the early rounds. Those are the rounds Mayweather usually gets tagged and he has never seen anyone with Pacquiao's punching speed. Pacquiao could do a lot of damage early and switch things up when Mayweather thinks he knows what Pacquiao is gonna do. It will be close and I think we will see some fireworks.

60-40 money split for Mayweather, that is a big win. Especially when he doesn't have a promotor hanging over his head.

Although they are saying the fighters will take as much as $100 million a piece for this fight. Would have been more exciting if they fought 5 years ago and they were both still young, I would also be happy if Bieber fought in place of Mayweather... I'd even pay to see that one.

I know big mouth is a dancer and I haven't paid for one of his fights in a long time either, but Freddie roach says they have a strategy. I'm going to my buddy's to smoke cigars and play some croquet. Then eat a big meal and watch this thing. I'll chip in and hope for a great fight. Maybe I'm a fool but I think Floyd has been ducking this guy for a reason. Man, I hope it's as good as I'm thinking it might be.

A lot of thought that Floyd didn't want this fight to happen now either, he was making some pretty silly demands of Manny and Manny just agreed to them all, well not the 70 / 30 split or the 65 / 35 split but Manny did agree to 60 / 40 just to get it over with. I'd like to see Manny knock him the eff out, but we'll see.

I just heard the story about Manny running away from home when his family ate his pet dog, talk about growing up poor, I grew up poor but heck at least we had "dented cans" from the grocery store, we never had to eat one of the cats. :|

I think the only reason is financial. If one thing Floyd knows how to do is make money...

If Mayweather loses in a blockbuster fight of the ages; you can only imagine what re-match will bring in.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

Regardless of who wins, Vegas will be hopping and raking it in.

The MGM arena only holds around 16,000, but all 300,000 hotel rooms in the city are sold out this weekend. People just want to be here for it. The Riviera is closing forever in four days, but they're getting around $900 per room Friday and Saturday. It was reported the little hotels in Primm, about an hour away, were getting $150 a night instead of their usual $30-$40. If you can even find one, the cheapest seat way up in the nosebleed section is selling for over 4 grand. All the luxury boxes at the clubs are gone. Taxi companies are putting out extra cars. Airlines are staging larger planes than normal for their routes coming/leaving here.

I believe I'll be staying as far away from the Strip as I can this weekend.

I missed Woodstock too. :D

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

Just channel surfing and ESPN is live at the weigh-in, I think they just said there are 16,000 in the area just for the weigh-in.

The gloves had to be sent from the manufacturer right to the NV athletic commission for inspection (72 hours ahead of time), the gloves are then locked up till the weigh-in when the fighters can finally try them on and they will mark them so everyone knows they are the same gloves (the fighters mark them), the gloves are then locked up until the fight.

Interesting the tricks fighters use to break down the gloves and try to move the pad away from the knuckles, supposedly the boxing commission will be looking out for that.

Manny uses Reyes gloves made for a puncher with less padding around the knuckles, Floyd uses pussie gloves made for someone with tender hands.. :r
