Widmer Pitch Black IPA, not typically a huge IPA fan, but this one is quite nice and not nearly as bitter. :tu

Started the night with a pals bretty saison which was excellent. Always nice to get a good homebrew!

Finishing it up with the SN Ruthless Rye which got to VT a few days ago. I like it. Haven't had many rye beers, but they do a good job with this one it isn't over the top.

Absolutely. I don't drink this beer enough. I love how crisp and clean this beer is. What I enjoy most about craft beer is the exploration of all of the different beer that is out there. There are so many good craft beers that I'm constantly trying new stuff. As fantastic as it is, I forget how good some of the old stand-bys are.

Last night at a mini tasting:
Ballast Point Victory At Sea
2011 Cigar City Brewing Marshal Zhukov's Imperial Stout
AleSmith Speedway Stout
Founders Breakfast Stout
2012 Founders Double Trouble

Fresh Double trouble was awesome, and the Cigar City stout was the best of the beers. Super rich and focused espresso/dark bitter chocolate. Great stout.

Really liked it a lot.
I haven't had much by them. In fact maybe only the 2XIPA which didn't seem all that interesting to me.
I'll be buying more Unearthly though :tu

A pal just got some double trouble and abrasive in in trade. Looking forward to sampling this weekend!

Last night enjoyed a few things while watching the game:

Gift of the Magi
Mother of All Storms
St. Bernadus 12
More Brown Than Black
Fantome Noel

Yeah I really liked this years batch of Double Trouble. Although I think I liked their Harvest Ale better.. 2011 Harvest was stellar, and from what I hear people enjoyed it better than Surly Wet Hop.

Long night Saturday with friends - out to dinner, watched some bad-ass roller derby and then out for more drinks:

Hopslam (2)
Ruthless Rye
Saison Dupont
21st Amendment Bitter American
Hoegaarden
Surly Furious (2)
Summit EPA
Dos Equis (2)
And a massive headache on Sunday.

My Dad and I went to have dinner in downtown Chicago, and the restaurant we were going to turned out to be out of business.

Found a bar/restaurant a couple blocks away, and to my delight, they had Founder's Breakfast Stout on tap. :dr

Ok, the Samuel Adams link was a big fail as you have to enter your birthdate to get to it. Here's a picture.

2xIPA is actually a good beer by itself but compared to Unearthly, Oak Aged Unearthly or Gemini it really isn't as interesting. Southern Tier has become one of my favorite breweries of late

Tonight:

Hopslam
Double Trouble

I am feeling hoppy

Drank my last 2 bottles of 2010 SN Bigfoot Barleywine last night!

Had a Hopslam last night for the first time. I definitely enjoyed it, was hoping to pick up a little more honey though.
