Re: Mobile Stogie moving to new owner!

Hey Colin. I have a few questions/comments. I have v2.0.1. How do I update to the new v3.0? It doesn't show up in the App Store/updates yet. Thanks.

A few suggestions (if not already done in v3.0). It would be nice to have the discontinued year listed in the cigar reference. Also, pictures of the referenced cigars would be an added bonus! :)

Thanks Colin.

We have been working on this for a long time and it is a relief to have it in the app store now. I think people will be very happy with it because it improves search and fixes some issues that were in previous versions.

In addition to that, 3.0 adds the ability to review and rate cigars. Check it out. You can be as specific or general as you want, using stars or descriptions. Also, you can add photos to your cigars in your humidors. So if you do a review and want to take a picture, you can do all that now.

The database of cigars is being updated now and I will let everyone know as soon as it gets published. This update will be available for people with any version of the app.

Thank you. This is great to hear. I'm also excited to hear some feedback on the new features.

Thanks for asking. I've been looking for a way to help people transition from kens version 1.x to the new versions 2.0 <. Unfortunately Ken's version did not have a way to export humidors. Apple sees this as an entirely new app so they won't interrelate.

If you have v1.x then you will benefit from the updates to the database due in a couple weeks just like people with v2.x<. People with version 2.0 will be able to upgrade to v3.0 for free and all future versions.

If you have a 1.x version (ken's version) you will need to buy the new app v3.x< to gain all the new features.

I am going to offer a special heavily discounted price for a short time to make it easier for people with the early version to upgrade. When this is available, I will announce it on this site as well as elsewhere when that happens. It will be available aproximately when the database update goes live in a few weeks.

Thanks for your understanding. I hope that I'm adding enough value to the app to make it worth the switch.

Sincerely,
Colin

Thanks for the updates Colin, however, I have version 2.0.1 and the update doesn't show up in my app store app. How do I upgrade? Thanks.

I'm on v2.0.1 as well--it doesn't show up as an update, but if you search in the App store it's there as a $3.99 purchase.

Colin, does it require a purchase or is the upgrade supposed to be free?

Free for those with v2.x or higher

If you have 2.0.1 or anything starting with a 2, then what you should do is go into itunes (1.)
2. go to "Apps"
3. click "Check for Updates" probably at bottom
4. let it update then sync your device to itunes and it will be there.
5. launch the app and you're done.

If you are doing your updates directly on the device or some other way, then you'll need to read Apple's guidance because I am not familiar with all the ways to get the update.

It is there for you if you have any version 2.x of Mobile Stogie. You just may need to figure out how to get updates for your particular setup. I hope this helps.

So is $3.99 the limited-time upgrade price for those of us with version 2.0.1?

Re: Mobile Stogie moving to new owner!

No, the upgrade should show up in the app store I believe.

Check your itunes. That is where the update shows up if that's how you download apps.

On another note, I am leaving for a week in Havana for work and won't have access to the internet. So please excuse me for not responding to the internet for a little while. My friend who is helping me with the cigar database update will continue to work on it and we should have it ready around the time I get back.

Thanks everyone for supporting Mobile Stogie. I hope you enjoy it.

I Can't seem to get the upgrade without paying for it. The issue is that this shows up as an entirely different app than the original Mobile Stogie.

I get the same thing, that no updates are available for my apps. My concern with buying the program again is that I don't think there is anyway to get the inventory from the old version to the new version, and I don't feel like reloading it all again.

This is the biggest issue for me too, not the $4!

Yes Greg. Before you leave for the course. This would be really good to know.

What happens when you download it? Do you have two separate apps or does the old MS disappear?
