I'm thinking about ditching the Xbox (after 5 committed years) and switching to PS4.

The last "new" game I played was Halo 4. Loved it.

Lately I've gone back to old reliable titles...Just Cause 2 is awesome for just hopping around and wrecking stuff. The dialogue is hilariously cheesy, but the sheer scale of the open environment is amazing.

I also started over on Splinter Cell: Conviction. I've been playing co-op with it for a while and my skills have improved. So I'm trying the campaign on harder settings. Plus it's the last SC game with Ironsides as Sam. :(

Traded in a couple of games for Need For Speed: The Run. I love NFS: Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit, and finally decided to snag this. It's different, and harder -- but it's a bit addictive. Definitely glad I snagged it.

Reserved "The Walking Dead" (the first one, not the second game with the guys from the actual show) through Redbox.com (which is a great way to save a crapload of money, IMHO). Played Episode 1 so far, and whereas it's not a fast, action-packed game, it's definitely a cool game to check out. I don't want to say too much as it would ruin the surprise and the gameplay for you -- but I recommend renting it if possible.

Re: Games thread!

Just returned the rental of The Last Of Us, which has been nothing short of fantastic. After my first time renting it, I was cursing it out. Apparently all I needed was to step away for a day and reconsider my plan of attack in one area.

The soundtrack is fantastic, the voice acting excellent, and it's probably the best "capture" of human interaction I've seen in a game -- less creepy than Heavy Rain. I suggest checking it out.

I loved the Walking Dead, check out pages 91 & 92 for my takes on it.

Anyone getting caught in the fever of the Steam summer sale? I picked up BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider so far. It's making me crazy.

Finished the story on Lego Batman 2 the other day, now giving it a break and have been playing Tomb Raider (Highly Recommended)

Traded in a few games Tuesday and picked up Ni No Kuni -- not a big JRPG fan, but it got really good reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot. Slow to start, but it's picking up.

Also snagged the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, which has all the DLC -- the DLC makes it COMPLETELY worth it.

Civilization 5 has consumed my soul.

Also - nice pickup on Fallout: NV. I have played through that game 3 or 4 times now. Love it!

Re: Games thread!

Played D3 on Xbox for about a week, I don't know why but it didn't grab me like it's predecessors, was good for a play through though, decent story for a Diablo game.

GTA 5 is awesome, the special abilities are great additions, the cars are 1000x better than any other GTA game, they look so much like real world cars they might as well have "Ford" or "Chevy" or "Bugatti" stamped on em. It's also a lot more graphic in other areas, so much so that I fully expect GTA 6 to have full on hardcore ****o scenes.

That said, some of the dialogue is stupid, especially in Franklin's early missions, I ended up muting the TV for most of them because I was just tired of hearing it.

Yeah I got bored with it really fast. (PC). I definitely regret having dropped the cash on it.

I'm not sure about Destiny. I looks really cool but I hear it's going to be a lot like WOW. I'm not sure if I want to get into a game that sucks you in like that. But it looks so cool.

Been playing GTA 5 for the last few weeks. Great game, especially playing as Trevor. He's like the embodiment of the past GTA games.

Stick of Truth will be next whenever I get bored of GTA.

Stick Of Truth is fun and fairly short (from what I have been told, but well worth it).

I've heard the same. But since I've heard it's really short, I'm waiting until I see it under the $20 mark.

I think the REAL news right now is that goat simulator is finally out. We can all experience goatliness!

WoW.

The evil, evil WoW. The new interns at work caught wind of the fact that I used to play and are all encouraging me to start again.

BUT I KNOW THAT WoW IS DA DEBIL!

I very nearly don't understand why I like it.

I've never been good. I've never done any raiding or endgame content. I've never gotten above level 60 or so. Hell, I never even group.

But it's just nice bubblegum for my brain every now and again.

I'd so much rather play EvE for the same effect, but you can't avoid the pvp nightmare of EvE.

I enjoyed it for a couple of hours.

...and haven't really played it since. It's just GTA5 with some basic hacking included, albeit very dumbed down hacking.

Not to mention on PC driving a car is hilariously bad. I have to switch to my 360 controller just to not feel drunk.

Damn steam sale. *twitch* Bought a couple things not worth buying just 'cause of my itchy trigger finger. All the big name stuff that's going on sale is stuff I've already got.

I thought about picking up Metro. But...meh.

EDIT: Along with the few hours a week of Saints Row IV, which I always manage to get in.

I liked Borderlands 1, never tried 2... might give that a shot.
Waiting on a reboot of an old old game I used to play on the C64 - Wasteland... to finish.

I enjoyed the hell out of 2. But I did enough playthroughs early on that when they started spamming DLCs (and there are a LOT of them) I just got bored. The writing in 2 is a bit lackluster; a bit heavy on the beavis and butthead humor.

Nothing beat the DLCs from 1 though.

I'd say wait 'til it goes on sale on Steam for some ridiculous price.

I did like a few of those DLCs... zombie islands and whatnot.
Is 1.5 coming out for the new consoles? I've been thinking about getting a new console but haven't seen a game which looks fun enough to pull the trigger.

Not for the new ones. The homepage says 360 and PS3. They'll port it eventually, no doubt.

Nah. Just started over. 3 15s in a few hours.

I've actually no idea. Just a "new player" recommended low volume one. I don't guild generally, so it didn't matter.

Low pop servers are a bad idea. Everything is expensive and gold is harder to make. High pop servers are best, but a good medium isn't bad either.

If anyone lands on Kil'jaeden, Horde obviously, and needs anything. Let me know, or if you're horde on any server...I can probably help you out quite a bit.
