Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Ball makes very nice stuff.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Ball is sold all over the place in Singapore. Hardly see a store in US that sells them, but out there it is common as Tissot or TAG. Pretty cool watches. There's some nice finishing details. The displays have a dark section so you can see diodes working.

Love my Ball Hydrocarbon Ceramic XV

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Ball makes some nice watches, their Hydrocarbon and Engineer lines are my favorite. Don't own one but I certainly admire them.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
They have a dive watch with a similar bracelet to the current Brietling Super Ocean style which is very comfortable. The watch was cheap too; like 1K USD. Great buy.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Put the vintage on a new black Ball leather strap... I like this combo a lot with the blend of old and new...

They had a great deal, 24 month same as cash interest free financing. Bit the bullet.........and the gun.........and anything else around. Darn free Heineken bottles did me in. |

High end brands are scaling down the diameter just as fashion houses are toning down logos on their bags, etc... Asian market, especially Chinese are preferring the more conservative styling and they are the driver's seat for both trends. Just as well; I don't want a pocket watch on my wrist. If you ever get to Grenchen Switzerland, the Breitling plant is really cool looking. |

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I just got an offer in the mail from Torneau; they are doing 24 months 0% interest.
They may not be the least expensive retailer, but offer longer warranties than most places.... |

Mine came as result more of a life and attitude changing event. Problem in life is we always put things off for tomorrow. Throw in that interest free financing and a wife nudging me over to get it and didn't really think twice. Hope that new attitude for life remains when the bill starts coming in.:r |

I don't foresee a new watch for me this year. Buying a 2nd home right now and want to save for a sedan in the semi-near future. That could change when I am back in Singapore this fall... Watch fever sets in and any responsible decision takes a back seat. There's a couple of particular watches on my hot list, but I can't say I have really "earned" them yet. There's a cool Breitling boutique in Singapore; 1 of 2 in SE Asia. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
My most recent experience with Torneau (T) came when I bought my wife a watch last Christmas. The watch she wanted at T was retail. They were unwilling to negotiate. We went to another shop with better stock and bought it for 20% off MSRP. Same warranty, plus I'm set to negotiate for our next one. I paid with a cc and got the miles to boot. So, to me, buying a watch at T for MSRP is not worth it. JMO in LA.

Here's a nice small quartz diver from Alpina. In this day when watches are mostly huge, it was nice to find one at 38mm for my skinny wrist.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I had a mishap not too long ago and lost a prized watch.
Fortunately, I had it insured. To replace it, went with another long term dream of mine. I can now die in peace.:D http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...3651536cad.jpg |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Fancy. I have been really digging the polished ceramic bezel, but can't go wrong with blue and gold. Very nice.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I have a question and apologize if it's the wrong place for it. I have two invicta watches and pins have broken on both of them. I have the 8932 and the 15180. The pins are 18 and 22 mm respectively, but I can't for the life of me find how thick the pins are supposed to be. I see 1.5, 1.8, and others. Anyone know, and yes I am a watch dummy, sorry. I searched for an hour and can't find the info. Maybe I am an internet dummy too.:tu

I used to have a watch fetish. But every single one would look like I dragged it behind my truck in a couple weeks. It's because I'm a hog.
That Rolex is GORGEOUS, Carlos. You are blessed, my man!!! :tu |

I am thinking of picking up a Ball the next time I am in Singapore in a couple of months. I saw one model that had a similar mesh style bracelet like the Brietling Super Ocean for around $1200 that seemed like quite a bargain. I just looked on their site and did not see a watch with that bracelet. I found in general that some watches, the dealers have more options than what is shown on the site. Especially for Rolex; there's too many variants for them to post all the combo's online. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
This was my first one. The Hydrocarbon Ceramic XV voted watch of the year 2012. I got it at around 20% off. The red label I bought used from Topper for more than half off retail. I think they're a great value and I get plenty of compliments on them.

Damn thats three weeks salary for me! Nice watches Ball and Breitling are on my bucket list of watches.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Have any of you been to a Ball watch vendor? Their displays are pretty cool.
Ball does a great job on the finishing. Seems like Middle East & Asia are their main markets. In Singapore, tons stores sell them; then again Singapore is the watch capital of the world by a long shot. Typically, the mid level kind of stores where Breitling, Ball, TAG would be their highline brands. I couldn't find a quick picture of the Ball mesh bracelet, but it's exactly like the Breitling which is super comfortable and en vogue right now. |
