There have been some painful sections. I really can't remember the last time an entire game kept me in this state the WHOLE TIME.

There was a section of the last Medal of Honor game that I've awoken from nightmares about. This could very well give me daymares...

I'm on the last chapter (I believe). I'll finish it up tomorrow. Gonna let my eyes rest for the rest of tonight.

Finished it up this morning. A truly heartbreaking game.

The story line is EXTREMELY far from happy, but the story line is so strong and well told that I kept playing anyway. Can't say it is a game that I would recommend to most, though...

Yeah, the story was rough. I liked the game play but really wish it didn't go in that direction.

I think out of boredom I'm going to have to make a second attempt at finishing AC-Revelations before AC3 comes out later this year.

On to happier games!

Got a chance to rekindle my love for Half-Life Deathmatch 2 last night. Killing one of your friends with a beach ball while screaming at them on Skype is way too fun. It is SO fast paced - I had almost forgotten how fast. I really hit my stride when I picked up a CRT monitor to throw at people - got 8 in a row before they finally took me down :r

Payday: The Heist is hard. I've been playing it with my friend who is pretty good at FPS games and we're really struggling (in a good way). It is far more challenging than I thought it was going to be...but we're loving it right now.

The Binding of Isaac is a dark game but with some comedy thrown in. Really simple & easy to pick up. Plus - it was only like $1.50 on the steam sale!

Damn you steam!

I've been oddly haunted over the last few days by the Steam summer sale, as there was NOTHING I wanted.

...that I hadn't already bought.

But today I finally cracked the seal and picke up Fable 3 and RAGE. We'll see.

I agree about Payday being HARD. In fact I think I only successfully completed two heists...the first one about 30 times though.

RAGE was okay.....I expected more. Great graphics though and fun game play.

Yeah, everything I'd heard said the same thing. The discount (66% or something) brought it into acceptable range.

We've successfully completed the first two heists. We have gotten to 91% in the third heist...the problem that we have run into is that this police department has 600 swat team members who are also olympic hurdlers and can leap 15 foot gaps in a single bound :r

I'm in the same boat as both of you in regards to RAGE. I figure it will be worth the small amount I paid for it.

Did anyone pick up Dear Esther yesterday? I played through it last night and was riveted by the story telling in it. It isn't erally a game so much as a story that you have pretty graphics to go along with :)

Put about 45 minutes in last night on RAGE. I'm pretty happy with it. It's hard not to make a Borderlands comparison as far as the setting goes. In fact, even not having played Borderlands in more than 6 months I found myself trying to release Bloodwing about half a dozen times.

BUT I have to say, the fact that the basic bad guys can take two headshots from a pistol at about 5 feet range is a little disconcerting. FPS games have to respect the headshot rule.

Since this is a sequel, there probably won't be much of an appearance from the Brutes which makes me think their weapons will be irrelevant to the story/involvement. The trailer looked pretty cool. The gun that assembles in mid air looked crazy cool. I've already spent my money on the DOA collectors edition, but I'll probably pre-order Halo soon.

the covenant do appear to be remnants of the empire, so brutes could make an appearance. and if nothing else just hav the hammer in multiplayer for grifball and custom games

Yeah I've got 6 hours in now. It's an easy game to walk away from for a while. Borderlands is far far better and it's perfectly clear RAGE is "the most sincere form of flattery" Id could come up with.

I only remember the first one he picks up in the trailer. I'm guessing it was the light rifle. I can't wait to see the other weapons.

I picked up Splatterhouse, the graphics are pretty neat, but I had an awful itch to play a really bad horror game. . . in so far, I'm actually enjoying it.

Fairly linear story, but you don't need much since it's pretty much a button masher with a lot of gore.

How is it? I considered picking it up - but honestly with the steam summer sale I'm inundated with new games.

It's good so far. Problem is with a L55 uberninja with 100 enchanting, 100 smithing, and 100 sneaking, everything's pretty easy.

I didn't get very far yet because Tinkerfest :p (And... I needed to fix my welder.)

I was shocked last night late by two things:

1) Minecraft 1.3.1, which has "trading with villagers" and a couple other new "actually noticeable" features.
2) I found myself starting a new RAGE playthrough so I'd have something I could use to shoot at stuff for a few minutes without having to think too much about it.

I'm basically waiting for Borderlands 2 and Dishonored. Everything else 'til then is a place holder.

CS: GO beta hit for us preorderers last night. It is fun - I REALLY like the changes they have made to the server finding system. I haven't looked - but I hope that I still have the ability to search for the dedicated servers running custom maps and mods. That is what has kept CS and CS:S going for so long (even CZ - the red-headed step child).

Also put in some time on Trine 2 the other night. Right in line with the original Trine - bed time story in video game format.

Been playing a TON of Just Cause 2 lately. Mindless destruction? Sign me up.

For my part, on Monday my desktop exhibited a remarkable flash, followed immediately by a popping sound before dying and filling the room with an acrid stench that's only now dying down.

I pulled the power cable with my feet (faster than bending over) and thought about it.

I've spent too damn much life playing games over the last 35 years.

I'm neither going to diagnose nor replace the thing. I'll pull the hard drives and attach them to my laptop to suck what information I can out of them, then put the whole thing in the basement to hold open doors.

enough is enough.

My point of view is that if I'm enjoying the time, then I'm not wasting it. But if you feel like gaming is stealing focus from more important things to deal with - then cut it off.

Best of luck :tu

Heh. Indeed. I'm NOT trying to claim any high moral ground, and the imminent releases of Dishonored, Torchlight 2 and Borderlands2 are going to seriously test my mettle.

But I've just about literally spent 35 years getting home from work/school, plopping myself in front of the computer and pew pew pewing away, sucking away entire days in the blink of an eye. I do so enjoy it. But it's been at the expense of an awful lot.

I even bought a mac laptop last week so I could write on the train. Between that and a couple other things that have gone on in the last week. I'll take the synchronicity.

:)

I've heard/seen good things about Guild Wars 2. I'm not picking it up for about a week, though. I'll wait and see how server stability is through this next week/weekend and then make a decision from there :)

Finally got around to installing and playing RAGE. Not great...but not bad.

yeah I liked RAGE. Nothing fancy. Trying DESPERATELY to hit the Borderlands crowd. Frankly I wish it was longer by about 3x.

GuildWars2 is absolutely amazing. Char cap of 5 is cramping my style with 8 classes. (none of those klunky dual class mechanics from 1.) There's a lot of neat things like ad hoc events (a la Warhammer and RIFT.) Your skills are based on what weapon combinations you have equipped. Crafting has recipe discovery in there. Account shared bank. And the classes are truly distinct some with mechanics that literally had me leaning back in my chair wide eyed. I may buy extra slots.

It seems like an hour or two is just about the right amount of time for me on that game. I still don't fully get it - very different from most other similar-styled games that I've played.

I've got to say, the more I play it the more I like it. I can't abide playing Charr, or those little bug-eyed freak things that look like they're straight out of Final Fantasy Eleventy Billion.

Crafting is solid. The amount of variety in each class is really impressive. I ended up buying extra character slots to have one of each.

For reasons I can't quite put my finger on I've gotten sucked back in to EvE as well. Might be all the Honor Harrington I've been reading (read the full 13/14 book main line twice in the past few months.) So my mind is edging towards things of that nature. It's really changed quite a bit. Mostly for the good.

Still though, I'm only half heartedly playing anything because in two weeks I'm going to disappear into the the Torchlight II and Borderlands II holes.

Then Dishonored coming out in less than a month and I'm just totally screwed. I guess I'll start dating again next year :p

It's... EvE is great when it's great. But yeah. After a couple weeks I'm reminded why I always end up re-quitting.

What we need is a space mmorpg that's... normal.

So since I loved "Spec Ops: The Line" so much - I realized that I've finally turned into a gamer that actually cares about story lines.

I've had Heavy Rain forever and couldn't ever find the desire to play - but I put it in on Sunday and it was all I played until last night at 12:30 when I finally beat it. Fantastic story line. Mediocre game play at best - but fantastic story telling. Gonna start trying out some of those games that have been in my "when my tastes change" category for too long. Starting with "Uncharted" tonight to see if it is more my speed now.

Checking out Borderlands 2, seems alright. The guns are quite annoying and unrealistic though :td

You shake like you have a serious case of parkinsons with the rifle, hard to hit stuff. The shotgun is accurate to about 15 feet if your lucky....lets hope it gets better but so far a bit frustrating to do something that should be simple.

They mostly start out with only one good stat and the rest are crap. As the game progresses and you get better guns the accuracy/dmg/reload speed/rate of fire/clip size all get better across the board :)

I've been playing it and have enjoyed the gameplay + story + humor immensely :)

Yeah I can see it getting better, we'll see. First boss fight sucked immensely, I'll admit I pretty much found a way to negate taking any damage and engage them without them hitting me.

Sniping from the area before. Killed 2/3 without taking a shot, probably the only way I could do it. I find the pick ups are a bit spare when needed and abundant when not.
